this to aldotersigni in west virginia;
if you go with kbr, they aint union. they would cheerfully close their doors and commit suicide before ever becomming a organized company. i had 14 years with them bums dating back to 1969, in 14 states. it has always had the reputation of being the greatest union hating outfit on earth. the entire electrical bunch has had a history of firing anyone ever caught with a code book on the job and immediately after one warning. I was on 6 different large 350-400 man electric crews back when we still built plants in america. It was always all about how much conduit you had to re work and how much wire you had to re pull and excuses for both, by the bushell. they got throwed out of colorado, and embarassed to death in alaska. Who bought the most beer always got the top jobs. Now, teng , out of chicago has the contract to send 70 state licensed master electricians to inspect some 70,000 buildings in afghanistan to try and do something about all the juryrigging with the wiring by kellogg brown and root. Its all from the united states senate investigation into the 27 troops electrocuted by immitation kbr electricians. teng is offering 278 thousand a year contracts now and due to deploy the inspectors in january. the american government is doing something to rein in the jury rigging immatation contractor from houston texas as soon as it is possible. the news is clammering for criminal trials . why would some respectable union electrician want to be part of that sub standard gang, is beyond me. I am not union, but i will not work for trash at any price. and i will not endanger troops for them.

apexeter in San Diego, California said: I'm wondering why the HUGE compensation discrepancies for like jobs between Fluor and AECOM? I've had an offer from AECOM at a seriously lower scale than Fluor (if my info on Fluor is correct), KBM or even Dyncorp. Any input appreciated, I'm due to fly soon.

Dycorp is only paying 91,000 for electricians. they are tring
to do the job with unskilled labor, ( mainly indians and Iraqes).
they are trying to keep the money for themself they don't know
how to run the job and they don't seem to care about the job
or the employees. ik you plan to work for them it is a big mistake!!

KBR and Dycorp Pay more for a licensed electrician than they
do for a union electrician even though the union electrician
is better trained and knows the job better than a non union
electrician,( in most cases). I have worked overseas with the
non union electrician and saw just how much they didn't know.
that part of the unskilled labor force is partly why that the
work is so BAD!! The other part is that KBR and DyCorp are
so greedy that they just don't care. it is all about the money.
the more people they have over there the more money they make,
it isw a numbers game, and that is all they care about. when
I told KBR they wetre doing the grounding wrong they agreed with
me, but they said that they already ordered, recieved and charged the Goverment for the material so they are going to use it knowing
it was the wrong way to do the work. they said if theuy say anything now it would open up a new can of worms. that is how KBR
runs work. know wonder they have problems!!!!!!!!!!

I do not understand you guys, all wanting to go to war zones??

The money they pay is not that good, at the end of the day everyone posting on here is looking for work abroad. For two reasons 1) money is alot better 2) see some of the world.

I have been working over seas for a good few years now, yes the money is good and you see a few nice sites but 9 times out ten you are in a crap hotel and see a busy airport. So lets face facts you are just after cash, as there are no sites to see in Iraq or Stan.

So be honest guys we are all after money and the best way is to get into the oil industry!!!

thats what I am in and I love the money!

This year worked I have been to Namibia, south africa, cameroon, Italy, Holland and I am currently working in Croatia.

You guys just have to look in the right place and you will soon get there!

they have anchorage alaska, and nothh slope work. you can not take anyone to the north slope. it is leased to the oil companies and non-employees are not welcome.the pay in anchorage is good per american standards, but get ready for a financial shock when considering the cost of living in anchorage. your wyoming license will recipricate with alaska, plus 200 cash

1953,,,,,must be 56 years old.......and, wanting to make a last ditch effort to build your net worth prior to cashing in. your request was for information about flour daniels in greenwood south carolina and their so called orientation. This is all to common with us non-union electricians with many , many years of experience.
I been in this slave society for 41 years with way to much experience with flour, brown & root (kbr) and many dozen sweat shop illiterate outfits just like them. Flour should be doing what kbr did not do. kbr did not positively set in place, a , program that would insure that their electricians would keep their mouth shut about all of the deadly jury rigging of wiring on united states military facilities in iraq and afghanistan; resulting in the electrocution deaths of at least 27 american combat troops.
Many people believe that g dubya bush orchastrated this money grabbing scam prior to the 911 incident. G dubya's right hand henchman dick cheeney, was CEO of haliburton. haliburton owns brown & root. Brown and root was handed the LOGCAP contract on a silver platter. The welfare handout was only for 150 billion tax dollars.
The elected united states senators and congressmen have responded to the un-necessary murder of american troops and fired brown & root. Flour was big enough to staff the job and try to recruit workers worldwide. I person ally have more experience wiring hog pens than flour has wiring commercial tiny structures and tents. Both companies (since my puberty) have had orientation programs that teach union hating, union hating, and union hating. ( did i also mention the union hating ?) I am living proof of the necessity of this great program. I spent, and am still spending my money for my self education, as real appretisship programs never existed. Electrician licenses never existed and both companies only performed in areas that had none. Thus, the substandard wages

this for grwood1953@aol.com
any well meaning, hard working, tax paying, honerable american electrician that has ever worked for kbr or flour, now has no retirement, no insurance and no savings, and no electrical education. the lucky ones come from texas where electrical licenses were passed out by the thousands in a political scam orchastrated by texas contractors and texas republican politicians. Flour dont have haliburtons money and their first move wes to cut the electricians wages in afghanistan by 30 thousand dollars per year and line their corporate pockets. Ditto for dyncorp, from texas.
If you want to know the truth, good american electricians command more than 700 dollars per day overseas, monthly paid r&r's business class air travel, hotels and all sundry expenses. do the math. somebody is getting screwed, not just the american tax payers and soldiers. There is as a company from turkey with part of the LOGCAP contract, and one in chicago. the one in chicago is offering 278 thousand dollars per year.
Its your call. flour is on my "do not hire list" i would not hire them to build a hog pen , if i liked the hogs. and.....i would not let kbr near the hog pen.

Thousand bucks says you voted for Obama and are always looking for hand outs and are deffinatly a democrat.Plus a union member working for non union companies.Typical

This is to usa.electrician:

I was getting ready to make a LONG post detailing how you're pretty much a complete idiot but decided you're not worth my typing skills. There are so many mis-truths and plain old lies in both your posts it would take me too long to point them out (and you would probably keep your beliefs even if I provided contradictory facts). You said 'flour is on my "do not hire list"'. It sounds like you are on THEIR do not hire list and you're just whining.

But thanks for your pertinent response to my request for information.

to whom it may concern, i have and am currently fluor and have worked for kbr. i am still working and fluor does NOT cut the wages of elestricians. whoever is passing this rumor on has no idea. and by the way if you think there is someone over here paying 278,000.00 a year for an electrician then your more mistaken than i thought. also if you really dont know lets not spread rumors. were not in high school anymore.

LOL I agree, but we all know the construction industry is THE rumor mill. Show me a pay stub, until then, someone is a liar about 278,000/yr.

Alright people. First off, there are three divisions associated with the name Fluor. They are Fluor Daniel, does electrical and mechanical, is non-union and the one doing the work in Afghanistan. There is Daniel, which technically just does the mechanical end. Then there is Fluor, which is Union. Fluor does electrical and mechanical. There currently have the new contract at Plant Jack McDonough and the maintenance contract there and at Plant Bowen in Cartersville, GA. I am 100% Union, out of Local 613, Atlanta, GA. Nothing against you non-union guys, but Union members don't work Rat so you Union guys need to rethink trying to get non-union jobs overseas.Inglett and Stubbs does alot of UNION work in Afghanistan, so check them out.

Think for a minute, People. The jobs overseas are limited so nobody on here is going to give out their contact information to their competition. If you luck up and find something on your own, in order to get the tax free status that sounds so good, you have to commit to and stay a full year. If you get fired, quit, or they run out of work before the year is up, you WILL pay taxes. They cover all your living expense except phone, internet, laundry, and personal items. At the end of that year, assuming you have no bills here at all, you could come back with around $90,000 in the bank. But if you have a house payment, car payment, or even a family to feed, you will be paying it out of that same $90,000. It is not a free ride, it is bust your ass, hard, dirty, nasty work, and not the ride in the park that everyone seems to think.

I have actually found several companies online who are accepting resumes from Union members and are legitimate and honest companies, but NONE pay the $278,000 someone has been dreaming about. The number of positions are VERY limited and will hire about 10 at a time out of God knows how many people manage to find out about them and find the correct website to submit your resume through.

Good luck to all.
