I do not understand you guys, all wanting to go to war zones?? The money they pay is not that good, at the end of the day everyone posting on here is looking for work abroad. For two reasons 1) money is alot better 2) see some of the world. I have been working over seas for a good few years now, yes the money is good and you see a few nice sites but 9 times out ten you are in a crap hotel and see a busy airport. So lets face facts you are just after cash, as there are no sites to see in Iraq or Stan. So be honest guys we are all after money and the best way is to get into the oil industry!!! thats what I am in and I love the money! This year worked I have been to Namibia, south africa, cameroon, Italy, Holland and I am currently working in Croatia. You guys just have to look in the right place and you will soon get there! |

Well i have never worked for either but are you not smart enough to ask the questions and cut the deals for retirement etc. And if you do not like working for them why did you stay for more than 1 day. Thousand bucks says you voted for Obama and are always looking for hand outs and are deffinatly a democrat.Plus a union member working for non union companies.Typical |

This is to usa.electrician: I was getting ready to make a LONG post detailing how you're pretty much a complete idiot but decided you're not worth my typing skills. There are so many mis-truths and plain old lies in both your posts it would take me too long to point them out (and you would probably keep your beliefs even if I provided contradictory facts). You said 'flour is on my "do not hire list"'. It sounds like you are on THEIR do not hire list and you're just whining. But thanks for your pertinent response to my request for information. |

to whom it may concern, i have and am currently fluor and have worked for kbr. i am still working and fluor does NOT cut the wages of elestricians. whoever is passing this rumor on has no idea. and by the way if you think there is someone over here paying 278,000.00 a year for an electrician then your more mistaken than i thought. also if you really dont know lets not spread rumors. were not in high school anymore. |

LOL I agree, but we all know the construction industry is THE rumor mill. Show me a pay stub, until then, someone is a liar about 278,000/yr. |

Alright people. First off, there are three divisions associated with the name Fluor. They are Fluor Daniel, does electrical and mechanical, is non-union and the one doing the work in Afghanistan. There is Daniel, which technically just does the mechanical end. Then there is Fluor, which is Union. Fluor does electrical and mechanical. There currently have the new contract at Plant Jack McDonough and the maintenance contract there and at Plant Bowen in Cartersville, GA. I am 100% Union, out of Local 613, Atlanta, GA. Nothing against you non-union guys, but Union members don't work Rat so you Union guys need to rethink trying to get non-union jobs overseas.Inglett and Stubbs does alot of UNION work in Afghanistan, so check them out. Think for a minute, People. The jobs overseas are limited so nobody on here is going to give out their contact information to their competition. If you luck up and find something on your own, in order to get the tax free status that sounds so good, you have to commit to and stay a full year. If you get fired, quit, or they run out of work before the year is up, you WILL pay taxes. They cover all your living expense except phone, internet, laundry, and personal items. At the end of that year, assuming you have no bills here at all, you could come back with around $90,000 in the bank. But if you have a house payment, car payment, or even a family to feed, you will be paying it out of that same $90,000. It is not a free ride, it is bust your ass, hard, dirty, nasty work, and not the ride in the park that everyone seems to think. I have actually found several companies online who are accepting resumes from Union members and are legitimate and honest companies, but NONE pay the $278,000 someone has been dreaming about. The number of positions are VERY limited and will hire about 10 at a time out of God knows how many people manage to find out about them and find the correct website to submit your resume through. Good luck to all. |
