apprentices, incase no one has told you, as an apprentice you are kinda owned by the jatc/ibew if you go anywhere out side of the u.s. or canada to a non ibew company , you will get droped from the apprentiship program, unless something has just changed.

No, nothing has changed. In fact, in local 46, just south of Matt's 191, we have a 18K loan we have to repay if we leave the apprenticeship or work non-union in the 5 years following turning out, so Matthew may want to look real carefully at what sort of agreement 191 had him sign when he joined.

After investigating further work overseas for apprentices is permitted as long as its cleared by the JATC training director, and the training committee.

New Orleans is near the bottom of the pay range for electricians. If you don't mind starting as an apprentice you'll make more and get better training if you join the IBEW in Seattle. We still have lots of work and a first year IBEW apprentice in Seattle starts at more than most New Orleans journeymen make. The catch 22 is that the places that pay well usually don't accept your experience and training if it occurred in another country. Which is why you'd have to start as an apprentice.

I once thought that of a guy when I was 24 I have since come to regret that thought. You have no idea what you are talking about but one day you will I have more experince in one finger than you have in your whole body which in construction is enormous, I was commended from disney as the only person EVER to have completed a project on time with no errors ever in their history so keep working one day you may get there

Josh Perry in Huntsville, Alabama

We are currently looking at a job that would involve sending (70) certified electrician and (37) fire protection specialists to do work in Iraq.

We are currently in the proposal stage

The job is for (1) year and the option for (2) 6 month periods after that. We would like anyone who volunteers for the project to be a SEI employee.

Pay Example for a Electrician
$35 to $40 a hour
Guarantee at least 60 hours a week (could be around 80)
70% uplift

$40 a hour X 70% uplift = $28 ($40 + $28 = $68)
$68 a hour with uplift X 60 hours = $ 4,080 a week
$4,080 X 52 weeks = $212,160 a year

Please send resume to josh.perry@seigroupinc.com, by Sept 12, 2008...

Sorry about it being so quick.
