Josh Perry in Huntsville, Alabama said: We are currently looking at a job that would involve sending (70) certified electrician and (37) fire protection specialists to do work in Iraq.

We are currently in the proposal stage

The job is for (1) year and the option for (2) 6 month periods after that. We would like anyone who volunteers for the project to be a SEI employee.

Pay Example for a Electrician
$35 to $40 a hour
Guarantee at least 60 hours a week (could be around 80)
70% uplift

$40 a hour X 70% uplift = $28 ($40 + $28 = $68)
$68 a hour with uplift X 60 hours = $ 4,080 a week
$4,080 X 52 weeks = $212,160 a year

Please send resume to josh.perry@seigroupinc.com, by Sept 12, 2008...

Sorry about it being so quick.

Looking for and researching overseas work for electricians. I am doing research for my husband who is interested in oversea or northern work. He was master electrician and former contractor, with about 20 yrs experience. Unfortunately we had to close our business–and relocate south owing to my health about 1 ½ yrs ago. His company specialized in industrial electric and explosion proof and classified locations. Worked a lot with natural gas pipelines in the mid west–also has some coal and mining experience–but in truth there is not much he has not done. He did do time in the military in the 80s and had top security clearance/ was honorably discharged with a rank of E5. He is currently employed–in larger hospital projects–new and remodeling of, but the work is not exciting enough for him–he is by nature a road warrior. He was trained up through the IBEW–but the union is not very strong in Florida and his Iowa license has expired. We have the results of his experior test, also his code up date taken in 2006 and he is willing to retest, for requalification as needed. My health has improved and our children are nearly grown now, he just turned 43 Saturday, and he’d like to get back on the road for a few more yrs. Been researching KBR, does anyone know of any other companies beside KBR that are hiring for overseas work? He is also interested in Canada–the pipeline and mining jobs owing to his past experience in–about 10 yrs. I note Canada wants red seal qualifications/ certification, does anyone know how an American can go about getting? Thanks in advance for any help you can give us. Email is flwilson65@yahoo.com

Doug Pettifer in Hamilton, New Zealand said: I am a electrical contractor in New Zealand. If you are interested in work in New zealad or Australia try looking on the following url seek.co.nz .This is a job agancy in NZ that lists jobs both in NZ and Aus . I know there is a shortage of good electricans in the mining and industrial fields in Australia and they are paying top dollar for sparkys . You could also try your local ADECCO employment agents " these folks are world wide and handle international jobs . I got work through them in Australia .

Hi Doug,
My name is Tim Davis and I am about to finish a 4 year electrician apprentice program with IEC (Independent Electrical Contractors). At that time I will be eligible to take my Journeyman's exam. The last 2-3 years I have been specializing in Fire Alarm Systems and have tested for my Level 1 and Level 2 certifications from NICET. Do you know how these certifications transfer to New Zealand?
My family and I would like to move to New Zealand by June or July of 2009. We are looking to move to Christchurch and I would like to apply for the Skilled Migrant Workers visa. Any helpful hints or direction you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

CV-curriculum vitae-every employer looks for one. Yes they will look after you, well some do, and help you relocate, depending what type and where the job is. If you are looking for change, thats up to you, where do you want to go, the job you want to do? my first overseas job was on the Brunt Ice Shelf, Antarctica the next year, working in the jungles of Belize.
