What do I need to do to become an Equity Research Analyst

Rheinmeister7 in Flushing, New York 22 months ago	I have spent the last 10 years working in Clinical Research with the pharmaceutical companies developing new drugs. I am looking at the possibility of moving to a role as an Equity Research Analyst in Pharmaceuticals but I am not entirely sure if without an MBA I will not be successful. I have been working as researcher in Biology for the last 10 years and would like to work in equity research as I think I have the good analytical skills. Out of curiosity do you think your age is a factor against you getting into the field? I'm 33 and don't really see it as a problem. I have tried some of the bigger investment banks but haven't had a lot of success. I am in the process of getting my CV rewritten and then I am going to try some of the smaller shops in the city. From people that I have spoken to that work in other areas of finance they have recommended that I at least find a financial modelling and a business writing class - it can't hurt!! Brad in Melbourne, Australia 17 months ago	Most Equities/Investment Analyst type jobs here 'look favourably' on the CFA qualification.
