I just got my NY state license as an esthetician, but i'm moving to florida. Can I use it there? Or do I have to take a florida state test as well?

Your best way to find out is to contact Florida's state board directly. Do a google search on Florida cosmetology board or try cosmetologists for a link.

Generally speaking, any license issued by an entity such as a State is good only in that State. So my answer would be "No."

I'am 47 license in fl and here you only need 300 hours I know NY needs a lot more you only need to take a quick test and apply for a fl license.

You will only need to pay for the Florida's license b/c you get grandfather into the state (Reciprocity). Then you'll have to keep up your license by paying every 2 years a fee. That's all! Just like being a nurse and moving around states, like my sister! I began Esthetics school in June (Yvonne de Vilar Scientific Skin Care) of this year and currently reside in D.C. but am hoping to leave this area, even though they say the pay is the best. . . honestly I need a place that is a more affordable way of life, not all about stress, like DC is! I hope to move to Indiana next year after graduating and passing Virginia's new State Boards. Good luck!

Go to myflorida.com...they have information on board of cosmetology. There is not a state board exam in FL, you shouldnt have a problem transfering to fl. Here is a number for cosmetology board 850-487-1395

Has anyone ever done personal esthetic services for client at their home or office? Is it allowed? I got a request to offer a basic facial twice a month to a client. I told her that I didn't know if it was allowed.

I just took my NY state exam for esthetics. I was out of time for the last section which was makeup app. and I was in the middle of the lip liner application and still had the lipstick to do. Also after the main examiner announced the test was now over and before she told us the instructions on when we would get the results, I asked her if we would find out today if we passed or failed. I asked her still in the test area why we were all standing waiting for the las instructions. Will I automatically fail? And how much do they take off for what I explained in the makeup part?

I would like to inquire to someone who has completed the program or is actually performing the job: What are the actual physical demands of this career? Unable to continue in the cosmetology field due to standing all day. Is this the same requirement with being an esthetician - or- can someone sit and stand throughout when assisting a customer? Before I consider training in the field of esthetics, I would like some input.

I graduated from Graham Webb in Rosslyn, VA. I too am also looking to leave the Washington Area. I looking for a summer job in Florida. If I like it there I will stay. Do spas hire for summer (seasonal employment)?

I was told that when you get your lic in that state is only for that. and you need to call state board let them know then i think you might take a test for the that state or pay a fee. good luck have a nice day.
