Any suggestions/tips/advice for taking the NYS written exam? Should I focus my studies in any certain area? |

Don't know if you have taken the exam yet. I've heard from all the girls who graduated before me that state law, anatomy, structure of the skin and some chemistry all part of the exam. Read very carefully too-one word can change the answer. These are the things I am studying. |

I went to school in Virginia. I transferred everything to NY and have to take the NYS exam in order to be liscensed here. I will check with my collegues about good local schools. I have heard that Jon Paul is more expensive. Good Luck. |

Know the skin layers and sanitary procedures. |

Thank you Jennifer. I have heard that they are more expensive but with the price of fuel i figure it may even out. Have you had any luck in finding a job in the area? This is my biggest concern is finding employment after I take the exam. Let me know if you do here of another school in the area that offers this course. It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again,

I work at The Medberry Inn in Ballston Spa, on Front St. I also do massage. It helps to have duality. Maybe whatever school you go to offers nails. It is nice to be able to do 2 things. I will check about other schools for you. P.S.

Congradulations!!! that's great that you passed. I know the Medberry in fact i had an appointment for a facial yesterday and had to reschedule for end of June. Are there any others that work with you doing facials? Last time I was there a lady Gerene did my facial but I here she no longer is there. How do you like working for them? I buy my mineral foundation from the Medberry. Best of luck to you, maybe you will be the one doing my facial! I actually did cosmetology when I was in high school back in the 80's and never followed through. I lost my job of 10 years last spring due to closing the company. I was an office manager / book keeper and I think it's time for me to do something different. Just have concerns with the economy the way it is right now. Thanks Jenn |
