Rasa, as the co-owner of a spa, I can guarantee you it would limit your job opportunities. It would make me wonder, "hmm...I wonder what else she's not willing to do...I wonder if we're going to have other problems with her." Unless you're able to do Brazilian waxes, then you're not fully an esthetician. Look at it this way, would you hire a maid who advertised that she didn't clean windows? If I were you, I would keep this preference quiet, learn how to do the procedure, and then see which of the estheticians you work with don't mind doing them so that you can refer clients to them. FYI though, you're going to be missing out on some good tips. I would open your mind a little. Good luck, Colleen

Look , this is the stupid judjment that you have for people who don't want to see people private areas, what do you think that every doctor should be a OBG, or esthetician jobs is like maid's job , I think that the states have to regulate the waxing procedure about Brazilian, and not to judje people, let say esthetician license who only do Brazilian , for me that is more fair.

Fair?!? Yeah, well maybe you're just narrow-minded. And maybe you're a little too obsessed with private areas.

I say leave the Brazilians for the people who really want to do them. We didn't even have enough people come into our school for Brazilians for us all to learn, Thank God! My friend just told me she did a Brazilian the other day and the woman was unclean in that area in more than one way. Gross!! I would assume Dr's offices and resort spas would have less call for the Brazilian than a regular salon. I am working on my own to choose what I will and will not do. As for cleaning ladies and windows, that generally costs extra just like a Brazilian. I can't get mine to do them, appliances, etc....HA!

Believe me, brazilians are not easy to perform.
If you are uncomfortable with it your client also
Will be. I suggest learn the technique and be
Selective of your clients if possible.

I have been an estheician for over 20 years and when I went to school we seriously learned how to wax everywhere. I live in LA and when brazilians became popular I went to Lori Nestore the wax queen and learned how to do them. Why did I learn this, because I'm a professional and this is part of servicing my clients and furthuring my education.

I have been working at large resort spas where I am the only one on staff who knows how to wax properly. I let a co worker do a brazilian on me and not only was I bruised for over a week but she took all the hair off my mons pubis and left all the hair on my labia...very unusual looking brazilian. I am very clean and only 110 pounds so there was no reason but incompetancy for this to happen. I now know why we get so many complaints about waxing at the spa.

I suggest if you don't want to wax because your uncomfortable with it then choose another profession more suited to you rather than provide poor service to clients.

to say someone is not fully an esthetician b/c of preference not to brazillian is not true, that's got nothng to do w/ the health of the skin, it's a wax procedure and is completely optional in my opinion. Im an este and i dont do brazillians. I take offense to your statement. It's really porno, imho.

While I agree no one should do a service they do not feel comfortable with because you will also make your client feel uncomfortable by not being skilled at waxing. However it is extremely ignorant of you to say a brazilian is "porno" as many women in LA and all over the world get brazilians and they have nothing to do with the porn industry. The spa owner was giving good advice in saying estheticians should at least learn how to do them properly then refer out if they did not feel comfortable performing them.I work in LA and personal would not hire someone who was so narrow minded as yourself.

Esthetics have been around long before the Brazilian (centuries). Brazilians should be a certificate course, just like peels, micro, etc. Let people decide what they want to excel in. I personally prefer the feel good aspect of facials while my bus. partner prefers waxing. Why does everyone have to judge?
