I'm moving to Pennsylvania and will have to take the practical exam there. I'm currently licensed in WA and OR. Is anyone out there willing to give me the low down on the test? Specifically, I tested on a mannequin in WA state and am curious about the set up with a live model. Interested in other details as well once I find someone willing to help. Thank you!!! |

Hello, I am a licensed Esthetician in PA and just got my license in January. The Practical is very easy! You bring your live model in and most times they lay in a lawn chair in a small room with a bunch of other people. Almost every thing is simulated except for certain parts of the facial. Make sure you sanitize your hands A LOT. You should seperate each step into a bag and label them. Why don't you contact the board in this state they will send you a sheet that shows you what they go through? It takes a lot of mess ups to fail the test. Good luck! Alyssa |

Thanks Alyssa! It looks like the PA test is almost identical to the one I took in Washington except for it's on a live model. I used toothpaste for our simulated soft wax, do you have a better suggestion for using on actual skin? Also, I used Play-Do for the hard wax, did you use something different? Thanks!!! |
