Did you or anyone you know ever work for this place called European Wax center?

I am reading reviews about it but not seeing any info on what its like to work there and how much they get paid. Are their benefits - Im hoping since its a franchise. I have an interview next week.

Thanks

Had my interview.

Info I learned at interview:
They advertise w/ Massage Envy but not connected business wise.
Its not membership based people can buy packages and save on their treatments.

Payscale:
You have different levels. U start at 5% services and 10% retail commission. I think hourly started at $8.00 She didnt explain the other levels payscale but its described in colors.

Retail:
I was told the stuff is pharmaceutical grade and U gotta sell the ingrown hair serum especially when wax a man's back or he will definitely get ingrowns n bumps which freaked me out.

Benefits:
1 week vacation -not sure if thats for everybody
no medical or dental etc

I was interviewd to b on-call but didnt get the job.

When I first went in there were 3 Caucasian women sitting and waiting to take on the interview. When I first walked in they were nice but didn't shake my hand. I reached out and shook hands with each of them. I sat down and they didn't know where to start. They were very unprofessional. They asked me a few basic questions and it went well.
After that they talked about the pay and commission and more about what we will be training on and the locations. I pretty much aced it. Just sorta sat there looking at each other, then they ended it. When I was leaving they did not shake my hand, so I reached out to shake theirs one by one.
It went well..few days later they called me for a second interview.

Went back to the 3 same people, and they didn't shake my hand. I reached out and shook their hands. They did NOT remember me from the first interview "very unprofessional". They asked me questions back to back. The three of them went back to back with questions. I pretty much aced it, and answered them with well thought answers. After they asked me questions back to back, they didn't have much to say. They weren't very professional, seemed very lost and unorganized.

After the interview they told me about training and also handing me training/orientation day information saying "welcome our future associates". They purposely made me feel that I was already hired. Told me all about dress code..blah blah..they like to make you feel that you are getting the job..The interview lasted 10 mins. They told me to expect a call.

They made me waited a week later, then sent me an email at 9pm saying I didn't get the job. How nice and what a waste of my time.. =) have fun if you are going to interview with them. VERY unprofessional! I say, don't expect to get anything out of it.

So I had an interview with European Wax center a few weeks ago and I'M PISSED! I pretty much figured I had the job because the interviewer made it seem like I did. She told me about the dress code, what to expect in training etc, and told me she'd email me a copy of the "script" you have to remember and recite to every client( and to familiarize myself with it before my second interview). She emailed it to me at like 10:30 at night and in the email it said she WAS GOING TO call me that Monday....which never happened. I even waited a few days and emailed her thinking that maybe I missed her call....but I got no response. I don't know what's up with these people. After reading reviews from people who have worked there I don't know if I'd accept a job there if offered.

I as well had an interview with European Wax center. Like the rest of you the general manager acted like I had gotten the job and was interested in having me become an employee for them. I had a 2nd interview and was told they would call me in a few days to let me know. I recieved a call yesterday and was told they gave the position to someone else. WASTE OF TIME. After reading these comments I am more than happy I didn't get the job. Super unprofessional

I went through the interview process. Was told all about the tiers, the pay, the dress code as all the stories above. In my case...the store was just opening and they needed someone right away. Training was to begin in 3 days...but they wanted me to drive 50 miles EACH way for 2 days w/no gas reimbursement. Then I was told I had to purchase their scrubs, AND I had to provide my 2 sets of my own implements, with name brands that THEY approve of. I personally feel that for a large franchise, there would be more than one trainer in a 25 mile vicinity and that they would provide the implements at least. And if you lose them, then your pay will be docked to replace. For 8 dollars an hour....I rather go for my dream job.

Well, nobody be to bummed out about "not getting the job"! I have wored for "EWC" and let me tell you, it can be quite frustraiting. I wont get into too many details and will sum it up for you. Mm manager was horrible, she manages several locations so i really saw her maybe twice a week and she would be there for about 3 hours. This being said, much of the time she was there she was chit chatting with us waxers. This making it really hard to do all the things she was supposed to do while there. We had a meeting once a week, but everyone knew after going over numbers, that nothing suggested by the waxers would ever happen.
I worked there about 3 months when she hired 3 new waxers. I was suprised because I had been pretty slow. I was trying to "build my clientelle" being decently new.. and then 3 new waxers were hired. I barely had any appointments as it was so from then on I had sometimes 2 apts in 6 hours of work. My location wouldnt give any more then 30 hours to any waxer. They pay MINIUM WAGE, every 3 months you get 25 cent raise. 5% service commision and 10% retail commision. Thats not very much when you have only TWO appointments the entire 6 hours. You also get "bouns" if you hit certain ammount of money for the pay perdiod. The bonus ammount is set VERY High so it if often never even reached.
BASICALLY..... i waxed womens vaginas and buttholes for minimum wage plus what they tip. Let me tell you, the tips arnt as great as you would assume for that service. It ISNT WORTH IT.

so consider yourself lucky you didnt get the job!!!

I agree...i had an interview with them in NYC area. People who get the job there are slaves...!! I got the job, but I told them I have to think and will call them. I didn't call. Glad I didn't. Horrible horrible slavery, working for nothing. Stupid franchise.

I worked at EWC a couple of years ago. I didn't get hired for the first opening that I interviewed for but a few weeks later the manager called and asked me if I was still interested in the position because another spot had just opened. I liked the way they paid; I found that there was a lot of potential to make quite a bit of money. If I can remember correctly base pay was $8 an hour, plus you get $4 per product sold, you get a certain percentage of the cost of the services you performed, plus tips. And you would get an increase in base pay after a certain amount of time. The girls who had been there the longest (and were the quickest, therefore were able to perform more services in a day) would be booked solid everyday. They were able to perform most services in 15 minutes (including full Brazilians) so 4 services an hour for maybe 6 hours of so reeeeeally adds up! The only thing that sucked was they would calculate the percentages of guests who you sold products to and if you didn't meet a certain number it was a strike against you. I only complain about that because I'm a horrible salesperson :)

I am sorry you are such a racist!
I have had Hispanic and Asian women be deliberately rude to me and favor their own kind but I don't rant online about it.

Ive been working at European Wax Center for over a year now and I love it. I think it depends on what location you work at, they differ a lot from each other depending on the management and owners. I work at a very busy location and Ive been pretty busy since I started. I started at $8/hr plus 5% comission on services and $4 per product sold. There are 4 color levels of waxers. Blue is a newer waxer who gets longer to do services (30 min brazilians). White is the next level, where you do Brazilians in 15 min but still get longer to do a full face and legs and arms. Orange level you can be double booked. So do a brazilian with underarm in 15 min. Then there is a Red level waxer that most people dont get to or even want to be there. They can be triple booked and do brazilian, underarm and eyebrows all in 15 min! Many of the girls I work with including myself are solid booked most of the time. I started out working weekends but no longer have to. I work 23 hrs a week and my paychecks average about $1000 or more twice a month and that doesnt include my cash tips that come out to over $100 per week.

I was hired by EWC and they gave me this catty trainer who would not even say hi, and took ciggarette breaks while she was supposed to be watching us. I basically quit because I felt that I needed positive and focused training. The issue is, I want to apply at another EWC but would rather not say what happened at the other EWA. Since they have my name in their computer will they automatically know?
