If you mean if there is an online esthetics course which will be accepted by state cosmetology boards which will qualify you to take the state licensing exam......NO! Each state is controls which schools within their state is acceptable. In addition every course requires practical training, and no online course can do that. Jeff |

I would be interested in your reason for asking about online esthetics education. The reason for my curiosity is to wonder how you would be taught to do facial treatments, analyze, wax, etc...on real people. One of the most important skills I can teach my students outside the technical aspects of skin therapy is how to forge a professional connection to clients. The connection that keeps them coming back time and again. Sorry to digress, lpt |

I'd be really cautious with a distance learning program. You're bound to run into all kinds of problems with that because for one, theory is minimal compared to the practical that is required by every state. And all your hours are tracked and recorded by your instructors. Your theory hours contribute to your total hours. Second, that school is out of the country and Canada probably has completely different regulations regarding esthetics than America does. Then, on top of that, you would have to get your paperwork transfered to your state of choice and it could be a completely different standard than what they will accept, wasting you time, money, and likely your sanity. In my state there were so many snags on the regulations that it was nerve racking during graduation time when all the paperwork had to be filled out correctly, signed and notarized by your instructors, sent in at the proper time, etc. And trust me, it was a ton of legal paperwork. Then I looked into transfers of licensure by state and there were so many snags or additional classes that I would be required to take if I even wanted to transfer to FL. My point is, that because each state regulates itself, it is a very stressful venture to move licenses, let alone try to do it between countries. |

You are right everyone needs to be caution, buyers be aware, however I did my research and this program which is from an accredited college has gone through all the red tape to make this program as good as regular training. I would ask you before putting all this information on the website, you should to a bit more research. If you want I will find out the the correct individual which you can talk with and find out more details about this training. Sandra |

I see nowhere that this online course would be counted by any state as approved educational hours for licensing. Except for the information, this seems to be a waste of valuable monetary resources needed to get licensed to practice in any state. lpt |

So Incorrect, you have not done your research and you are giving wrong advice to individuals that trust your opinion. I am taking this course and the log everything, my marks my time that I study and at the end I will be completing TWO full months of hands on practical at the college. If a person is smart or have half a brain, you do not need to have someone to teach you the theory...just the practical is needed.

The ISSUE is whether or NOT there is ANY state in the United States that would ACCEPT this education as counting toward the required hours necessary to be qualified to test for the state licensing exam. I see nothing to indicate that this online school qualifies in any state as state-required education necessary to test for the licensing exam. Prove me wrong, please. Show me where any state has approved this online education as qualified hours toward graduating from an accredited school, and being able to take the licensing exam in any state. lpt |

Sandra, I noticed that in some of your previous posts you show Mexico and then later Key Largo, FL. Are you in Mexico or Key Largo? Where do you plan to practice? |

You misunderstand my capital lettered words as anger. The only thing I am trying to convey is that NOWHERE is there ANY evidence provided where this program has been accepted in ANY state in the United States as being valid for licensing. And that is the bottom line. If I go to this school and log 600 hours or 1,200 hours, will the state I live in recognize this school as legitimate for licensing? You still have not proven anywhere that this school qualifies for state licensing. This is definitely a red-flag online school. It may be fine for general education, but for those who are looking to get licensed to actually practice in your state, BUYER BEWARE! lpt |

Sandra in Key Largo, Florida said: I am travelling at the moment. Canada may have provisions which allow online schooling. However, I'm sorry to say that no state board of cosmetology can accept the training. The reason is frankly that most states require that schools be inspected and accredited by the state. This is not possible with long distance learning. If it were the case, I might consider really going long distance and studying beauty therapy in Russia which requires beauty therapists to be doctors. I would ask the school what states in America has their credentials heen accepted as qualifing the individual to take that states examination for esthetics. Do not pay one cent until you have been given an answer and then you call that state and verify it. If they have been in business for as long as you say there will have a list. Even if you are going to practice in Canada, verify this. Just like ITEC, CIDESCO, CIBTAC (International Examination Board responsible for the education and training of Beauty and Holistic Therapists worldwide), and other certification programs, there may be places where these are accepted in order to work in other countries. However, non of these are accepted in the US. |

It's a Goodaddy site, for crying out loud. The internet is a dangerous place for a lot of people. Sandra is one of them. How on earth does she think this is a real school. OMG, how much money did she give them. It's been 8 months. I'm sure she knows by now that she's been had. Sorry to be so abrupt but when people don't use the brains God gave them, I have no respect. |

Sandra in Mexico said: Dear Jeff, I don't see a problem in covering the theory portion on line. But, I don't see how they will be able to test you unless they do this when you actually attend the school. The real problem is that, unless your state or the governing body of where you are will accept the schools curriculum and hours, the course isn't helpful. I see that you are in Mexico. Are you planning on working there? What are the requirements? Howver, once you get your license, there are many very good programs which you can take as well as videos which will help. I even know of an excellent course on medical/clinical esthetics conducted by a world renowned educator. If you are a good self-taught esthy, you can save a fortune using the DVDs. Jeff Jeff |

Jeff: I am interested in a career change into a career as a Esthitician. I am 45 and make a six figure income in the insurance industry, yet it is a passion of mine to work in skin care and make-up. I would like to become better educated on the subject and to get some direction and how to pursue this industry. I contemplate becoming a Spa owner and need some discussion. Cindy |

How much does a new Esthetician make? I'm thinking of a career change. At present, I'm a CNA ( 2 jobs needed at all times, to make ends meet). I'm tired of the heavy lifting and the disproportion ratio's. I am highly under-paid and over, overworked. HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP! |
