You must contact the texas state board of cosmetology and for a fee of 150 dollars you can have your licence transferred also the state board where your licence was issued must provide proof of your licencing there.

Hi
I have been inquiring about the same thing I am not ready to move yet but I am thinking of relocating from South Florida to Austin, Texas. I have been told that I have to take the Texas exam I am not sure but I think New York is like Florida there is not reciprocacy with Texas. Anyway I found the Milady exam preparation online very helpfull since I got my license in the 1970's and back then there wasn't a separate license for estheticians I had to go to beauty school and get a master cosmetologist license. Even thou I have some knowledge of anatomy etc I need to study all over again to be able to pass this text :)

I am a licensed facial specialist in Florida (and have completed 1200 hours in basic and advanced skincare) and was wondering what I have to do to transfer my license to Alabama? Any help or tips would be much appreciated.

I am a licenced esthetcian in Arizona plus have 2 years of work experience. Does states like Texas let you use your work hours towards obtaining license. Arizona requires 600 hours where Texas is I think 750. Arizona has reciprocity....does Texas?

I have license in MA with 600 hours as well and I already contacted TX state board, they don't count any exp toward your new license. You need to contact them and they will send you instruction how to transfer license.. Though I found them very unclear - they talking about transfer fee, but where and how you will take extra hours - I have no idea. Because they also don't count any continues education in your state towards new license. Basically you have to get missing hours in TX as far as I understood. 150 hours its like 2 month of full-time school so I'm not sure i will be able to do that Maybe better to call them.

Hello Lanka, I just moved here 2mth ago from NY. The requirements to tranfer for a Fl license is only 250 hrs and you'll need a letter of lincensure certification from Albany for that you need to call them get the Address and send them $25. You also will need a certificate of HIV/AIDS class of 4hrs. You have to mail both those things oh you also have to pay $85. You can go on line do your application and pay the $85. The website is DBPR or just google it. I hope this was helpful, good luck. Sadhia

Arizona is a reciprocity state...so as long as you have a current licence all you have to do is pay around $150.00 to get your AZ license.

I am from Wisconsin and I am wanting to move to Arizonia in the next 6 months

It is easy in Arizona they have reciprocity so you only have to pay the fee which I think is around $110.00. You would contact the Arizona Board of Cosmotology. There are always jobs available in massage and hair...skin fewer but with the dual license it gives you a heads up. You should do well here. You would have no problems getting into resort work if you wanted368.

I went to esthetics school in Austin but got married and moved to VA as soon as I graduated so I never took the TX State Board. I now have a VA Esthetics License (for the past 3yrs). I am about to move back to TX. Will my VA license transfer and what do I need to do to get my TX esthetics license?

I agree ,Perhaps we should have a National Esthetician credential that is good in any state of America
Anyone want to take that on?

Oh by the way I am credentialed and NCEA certified ;; if that means anything ....to these states?? Its all about the Equity for these folks can you believe 150.00 to exchange lic states??
or better yet a penalty for working un -licensed in a state that refuses to review and accept your application for reciprocity
OMG~ What have we become??? slaves??

I have taken NCEA Test - and it is difficult and would make a wonderful national credential
YET it is not recognized like it should be!
Suzanne Warfield is in charge of this - lets all write to her!

I agree, the only theing is they will get you coming and going with a national exam fee and in most States a state fee as well. Trust me I am a massage therapist as well and I am nationally certified and it is now requied and have been for 10 years and they finally made it required by the State of Wisconsin for a State Lisence as well for CEU purposes. Great idea however more money for the provider.

My point is, is a national certification going to take the place of the state licensing CEU's and fees in all statesor will you pay double fees.

In WI you will have to pay your National and your State Fees.

How sad it is that our industry is not quite were it should be Re: reciprocity I had a similar problem in NJ coming from California then Va the State Boards really need to work together !! I literally was ignored by NJ and had to return to Va because I could not obtain a NJ license in a timely manner and avoid a fine!~!

I never bothered with CIDESCO because I have no interest in massage and nails. These days, the highest esthetician certification is to become NCEA Certified. You can read about it (and CIDESCO and ITEC) here: www.nceacertified.tv. It's a tough exam and requires continuing education units to keep your certification, but it is worth it.
