At the last ISES Conference I attended (Int'l Special Events) it seemed that 95% of the industry agreed that while jobs are on the rise they have still decreased significantly in the past 4 years. Large cities will continue to have the largest number of job openings, but also the largest number of job seekers and currently unemployed past Events Specialists.
Certain restaurants and restaurant chains that have tapped into events in the past few years are expanding that area. And hotel event numbers are increasing. While Florists, Decorators and Coordinators that are still considered the "icing" of an event are still hurting. Many have already gone under.
