I have been looking everywhere to get my foot in the door with some event planner/coordinator job and I still do not have employment. Can anyone offer some advice of what I can do? I have previous experience in college programming events like Galas and concerts - I have emailed all current job openings, both nonprofit and profit, I have emailed every business I could find in the NJ area that offers event planning and I still have come up with nothing. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance.

Try searching for catering companies in your area. Start out as a server if necessary. This will give you the backbone of all events from setup to teardown. Plus if you work for a well know caterer, you may get to work large high end events in your city. Catering experience is a huge plus on a resume! Good luck!
