Starting an Event Planning business

I have recently been laid off, and been thinking more and more about starting and event planning company, as I love organizing stuff and really getting into the details.I have helped plan sales meetings, conventions, block club parties and currently doing our family's first reunion for this summer and things are going well. I get excited working with vendors and negotiating, and really want to make this work.

Is there anyone in the twin cities that has a succeffu Event Planning business and looking for a mentee or would not mind sharing some valuable information to get me up and running?

I have a communications and project management background, and feel both contribute heavily to my potential future success.
