First 30 - 1. get the list of "time sucks" from your boss. The stuff you can take off their plate so they can breath. 2. Create a 12 month calendar of every milestone you can find in your bosses schedule. Then add holidays, financial reporting dates, direct reports vacations, etc. Once you have all the milestones, fill in bring forward dates and bring those items up in future meetings with your boss. 3. Have 1:1 orientation meetings with all key staff. 4. create a desk manual with all key contacts, procedures, reference material.
0-60 - inventory all the files, paper and electronic. If the filing system is bad, fix it. By the end of 60 days you need to be able pull out information for the boss like you are a magician.
60-90 - start planning process improvement activities that you can work on in the next quarter. Continue working on the admin manual and the filing system. At the end of 90 days, ask the boss for feedback on your performance.
