Can anyone post their script for going door to door for ed jones? Or post something they say when going door to door?

I was looking for the same info:

here is what i found

Then she even gave me her script: "Hi, I'm Kelly with E.J., we're expanding our business in the area and I'm out introducing myself the old fashioned way."

Client: "Oh, what's E.J.? or oh, I already invest with, blah blah."

Kelly: "I'm opening up a business in Eagan. How long have you lived in Eagan?" She has a small arsenal of open ended questions. She hands them a pamplet during the conversation and says, "I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name." She begins to write the name and while still looking down says, "And your phone number." Then, sometimes they say - why do you want my phone number and she tells them that she'll contact them every couple months if she comes across a tip or investment they might be interested to know about. She also tells them about the free portfolio review that she offers.

IF you come across anything else, please notify me!! HOPE THIS HELPED

I feel this is information you should ask your trainers and not discuss on an open PUBLIC forum. FA's don't work off a script.

So maybe FA's don't work off a script, but new people in the business do have to make a lot of phone calls and door knocks! I'm sure they are not just winging it!!!! It is still nice to know what other companies and other FA's are doing differently. Edward Jones FA's are very successful going door to door! Of course we wonder what they actually say when they are out prospecting.
Just out of curiosity, what did you google to find this "public forum"

"hi-just out letting people know 'bout my new business in town" (wait for them to ask what it is) "Edward Jones-have you heard of us?" (wait to see where it goes from there; have a short chat) "anyway, i am in the information business; like to keep people informed on investment ideas, where rates are, etc. Your name was?" (write it down) "And your number is?" (write it down) "thanks I'll be in touch-by the way , who else is home right now on this block?"

another "script"

FA's do and should work off of a script when they first start out in the business. Also I would highly recommend that you have a 30 second elevator speech or value proposition memorized. You may find that your elevator speech and your script will be essentially the same. The wording is less important than how you deliver it and the more you do it, the better you will become.

In terms of cold walking or cold calling; I would highly recommend that you keep it simple and short. The biggest mistake I see new FA's make is when they go into a two minute speech about how great they are, the firm is, all the things that they can do, etc.. and the person's eyes glaze over.

I would and have done the following: "Hi, my name is wealth manager and I work with ABC firm in downtown. I simply wanted to stop by today to introduce myself and hand out some information. I'm a retirement planning specialist and with the recent market volatility a lot of people have been contacting me to find out if they are on track to reaching their retirement goals. Are you currently working with someone on this?" If yes say " Great, I'm happy to hear that you are working with someone. Would you be interested in getting a second opinion on what you have? With something this important it might be valuable to have a second set of eyes review everything." If they don't have someone "Great, well it's good that we met today. Let's go ahead and set up a time where we can go through your information and then I can crunch the numbers and see if we can come up with a plan that makes sense for you"... or something like it. If they aren't interested than just let it go and move on. You shouldn't have to convince someone to want to work with you. The harder you have to sell someone generally the worst client they are.

Do you find it worth a newbies time to go door to door? And if you don't mind me asking, Have you had success doing this?

In terms of cold walking I only did businesses. Working with business owners is a major portion of my business and I liked the idea because there is opportunity with both the company and also the owner. Also they tend to have more complex planning needs and little time to do it themselves so they make good clients.

Success is relative but I currently have about 35MM of business and business owner related accounts. Some of it is from cold walking, some from cold calling and some from seminars. They all work with enough effort and each has it's advantages.

Here is mine:

Hi, I'm Ms. Broker with EDJ. I am actually moving my office here from anytown, and just wanted to stop by to introduce myself to one of the new neighbors. How long have you lived here in town? .... ah, fantastic... so do you work here in town, are you retired... small talk here. For retirees, get them talking about grandkids, whatnot. Circle back around to, "are you familiar with Edward Jones?"

You all should actually check out www.advisorheads.com They have a lot of Edward Jones advisors and advisors from other firms that can give some great feedback and ideas for scripts and business building. I have a few very detailed threads over there with some great doorknocking tips I learned through trial and error.

Let them know MsBroker referred you. It is a private forum so you do have to register and post an intro, so saying who referred you makes it a little warmer to newbies. :)

Hi Ms Broker,

I really like your approach when contacting new clients. I just completed the interviewing process and I got the job! yes!!! I was curious to find out how was your the first 2 months studying for the exams? How was the training? Did you feel prepared and ready to find new prospects? What would you recommend that i do to really get the most out of the training?

What do you think of the medical benefits with the company?

Well I don't think that Jones is a waste of time. I just got hired and I am looking forward to become a FA with an awesome organization! Is there anyone else who has a start date of 8/23?

How long have you been working for Edward JOnes, and do you feel that there is an opportunity for success? I realize that it is hard work in the beginning, but I would like to see if there are FA's out there that are doing well?

Hi my name is _______, I run the edward Jones office down the road from you here.
I'm just out in your neighborhood doing some good ole fashion advertising. And would like to take a moment to get to know you better.
How long you lived here.. Family in the neighborhood? where work.. how long.. still have old 401k...
How do you go about making your financial decisions? ........ what company. what is the balance on that statement.
How do you feel about the security of your investments in todays market?
How many CD's do you own?
My clients are most concerned about saving for retirement, living in retirement, saving money on tax's, and paying for kids college.
which of these do you se as you biggest concern right now.. What have you been doing to help with this. (if something, do you feel thats enough)
Well I would certianly like to be of assistance to you in the future, I will keep you informed on rates and see if I can't find something that you may find attrative. (look down) and what was you name again, and number. nice to meet you_______. I look forward to speeking with you in the future.

ask lots of questions and shut up and listen to them. let the conversation take you where it goes, people will talk if you ask questions and are genuine.
