I am an engineer and pursuing my MBA (to graduate next year). I have a strong desire to work in the finance industry, specifically as a financial advisor or investment banker.
My biggest disadvantage is a lack of finance and sales experience. To account for this before graduating, I am looking at associate and "new financial advisor" jobs. I have an offer with Ameriprise but have read a lot of negative things about this firm. From the interview with the francishee, the job doesn't seem to be what everyone online has detailed.
However, my plan is to get my foot in the finance industry's door and get my Series 7, 66, and insurance licenses. When I graduate, I will have these licenses and employers will hopefully be more willing to hire me.
Are there any recommendations that you have on this job with Ameriprise or getting into the finance industry? Thank you so much!
