I am fit, well groomed, educated and have good work experience. They people I've seen sent along are those that don't have much work experience, aren't that well put together, etc. I am beginning to think that the recruiters know the kind of people they want to hire beforehand, and if you don't fit into that little box you aren't going to get hired. |

Who did you apply for, was one of them Horizon? I went to there open house last week and i didn't like it much. I think they maybe looking for the non flight attendant look. I say that cus' while i am flying to these interviewsw, i get approuch by people asking me questions about thier flights and i guess that becouse I look like a flight attendant. You know the dark blue skirt, white button down shirt and hair pulled back. I am beginning to anualize myself. Might need some kinda counciling after this, lol. |

Dont give up!!!! have you tried maybe to applying to some regional airlines? It appears to be less of a hassel than the major airlines . I'm 31... I got the airline bug about six years ago, I applied with United went on two interviews, American one interview and did three interviews with US Air and still wasn't hired. I checked out Chautauqa Airlines(HQ) in Indiapollis IN paid training!! did the app got called for an interview and was offered training. Good company loved working for them they have a good selection of bases you should check them out. Read everything you can on the airline that you want to work for who is there CEO how did the company get started what type of aircrafts do they fly. And for Goodness Sake dont say you love to travel get creative you might want try something like I just enjoy serving others ...know whats going on the industry???? as a whole. Sell yourself with your background you really should'n t encounter any problems. Are you 100% willing to relocate? try stating that in your objective.Practice interview questions... do you respect the industry? The number one job of Any Flight Attendant is Passenger SAFETY no question about that secondly is Passenger Comfort. I wish you well my first interview with Mesa is on October 2,2007 I'm so excited. |

Tamika, Thanks so much for the wonderful message. I did have a interview with Compass Airlines in Minneapolis and they loved me, did the finger printing, drug test and they did a background check. I am waiting for a letter to see if i will be starting classes. I know i didn't fail the drug test or the back ground check, so hopefully I am in, I am so excited. I have read so much about Compass and things look real good for them. Brain new compay in April and 10 new jets. Have to tell you, they are so lucky to have me as I am to work for them. This is so what I want and have aleady rented my home out and moved in with my brother till I get on my way, thats how ready I am too move. Well I am sure we all have our stories and that's part of the reason I want to do this. The stories I will have, the adventure and most of all, the people I will experience, lol, yes I ment experience. Sometimes there isn't always enough time to meet people so I guess I will experience them. Hey wish me luck and I will do the same for you;) |

Really, I think that it is a great place to work. I will be starting my training Oct 29th. Make sure you know the details about them when you go to the interview. They do a one on one interview, and finger print, drug test you that day if they like you. have your birth cert. passport and license. As long as you are well in formed about the airlines and know what they are looking for, which you can get all that from thier web site you will be fine. Oh, good luck! |

oh god, good luck! i know how you feel it has been a long road for me and I have had the same taste as you. I am sorta happy they do things like this. Being a fight attendant is very important job. All the passagers will be looking for you to assist them in case some thing should happen. And though there are i believe that fly is the safest way to travel, there are other small situations that willneed our assistance. So i am thrilled that they take the time tofind the right people for this job. |

Pay is $15 per hour, and after 6 months $17, the medicail i think is about $86 for one and $147 with child ect. per month. $8 a month dental. bcbs opp, life insurance and travel plan is for you, child and spouse and small fee for parnts all starts 30 days after first day of hire and that is when you sucessfully complete your training. Seems like the longest interview ever and it's close but dont let it bother you. It's all part of a great eventure we are on, lol. good luck. |

This is a great forum. I had no idea this sort of thing existed. After getting through a group interview and individual interview with Southwest, I got my rejection letter. I was going to give up, but I went to a group interview for American Eagle on Wednesday, expecting a similar experience. Rather than 30 people, there were five. Four of them went home after the group interview. I was told to go to medical and get my tests. I have to submit an eye exam, because I didn't bring my glasses to the interview. (If you have glasses- bring them to your interview! I wouldn't have to spend $50 on an eye exam, if they were able to verify my corrected vision on site) Then, I will wait for my background check and medical to clear- no problem. Then, I will know when I start training. It looks like November. I was really disappointed about not getting hired at Southwest, but this forum has helped me realize that I am really fortunate to get this far on my first and second interviews, with no previous experience. Thanks! I have some perspective now. Everything is happening so much faster than I expected. I will train three weeks next month, and, if all goes well, I could be moving by the end of November. Fortunately, my lifestyle is very flexible, and I think that is a large part of why I have done well in the interview process. However, it is still a shock to know my whole life could change in a few weeks. EEK! |

Trust me, you do Not want to work as a flight attendant. It will takes a long time before you are earning even $20,000 yr, the benefits are bad, the work is very hard and exhausting and the risks to your health are enormous. I took an fa job at age 50. I was energetic, had perfect health, and looked 15 yrs younger than my real age. I thought flying would be a great easing into retirement job with lots of travel bennies. What I got was a savage viral infection, the loss of my health and my ability to work any job at all. I have a lot of company on this flight attendant disability list. What a HUGE mistake. I am glad you were spared. Stick with real estate, sell fruit, pole dance, anything but fly. Good luck. |

Frannie and Judy, I couldn't agree with you more! Follow your own dreams, follow your own desires, stay positive, and let God do the rest! I was a F/A about 6 years ago, and got laid off (low seniority) at 9/11. I went back to the corporate world, and I'm missed flying ever since. I am so excited about my interview with JetBlue this week I can hardly stand it. My mom always called me a gypsy, and I guess this is why! I look forward to seeing all of you in the friendly skies! |

Unfortunately, your situation is common for most Females over 45. I've experienced it. I've met numberious very, very well educated people in much less expensive states that are also being offered Commission Only or Low hourly wage like yours. Uhhh going from $100,000. a year to $10. an hour isn't a good thing either! You must retrain into something. After 45 you can't fake Young & Cute any more. Rarely will you be socially more cute than an under 32 person.
YOU MUST retrain to something solid. Been experiencing the same thing since about 41. What industry are you in? What are your job skills & background history? |

The airline that flew in there and connect to Denver had about 50+ year old Flight Attendants. I belive it was an American affiliate. Little plane. Cool location to go to if you want a pleasant visit or to ski and meet interesting people. Similar locations in other similar areas with the small planes are probably also using 50+ Women. So you'll be the young one. I flew several places & the smaller connecting planes had the more mature employees. Personally I prefer the over 37 crew as a passenger. They are least likely to get upset in annoying situations. They've experienced already in life - much worse - in the past. |

Trans State Airlines is hiring in St. Louis. I went on an interview yesterday, just filled out an application, had a 15 minute interview and start training on 11/29. I am a 48 year old female. They said they had two more classes to fill before they are finished hiring. |

Flight Attendants: Here is something for you to think about...
While you get "standby" free travel, you may not want to always standby for your flight. Now is a great opportunity for you to join YTB. Not only will you get travel agent rates for airfare, but also rental cars, hotels, cruises and more! Plus, you get to earn a whole lot more money than you earn being a Flight Attendant. At least you can supplement your income and get great tax benefits. This is what she said. Is it true? Want more info? Call or Email. |

NO you're mistaken. 1. It only costs flight attendants (until Dec 2nd) $49.95 a month. The one-time setup fee of $449.90 has been WAIVED for CURRENT and FORMER F/As, Pilots, Travel Agents & Airline Reservationists until the cutoff date. And the business model is so simple -- whenever anyone books travel on your website (you simply point them to it w/a business card - that is also provided to you) you earn the commission. Also, with your contacts in the industry and at this special price, it shouldn't be too hard to encourage other F/As to join. Many have already done so. I'm not trying to convince you... only inform you. The F/A who I met told me that it's really a no brainer for the reasons I listed earlier. She works for NWA. |
