flyinsoon in Indianapolis, Indiana said: Hi, I'm sorry it took me some time to respond. Last week of training and trying to get myself prepped for all the hands on drills as well as the last 3 test.
I know you asked about the coat. I'm not sure about the coat, you may want to bring it with you so they can approve it. But I do know everyone who brought their coat to be approved, the coat was Blue. If you have a black coat, I'm not sure it will be approved.
You wanted to know about bases, well, I got Atlanta, actually, the entire class got Atlanta. I believe there is a large need for FA's in Atlanta.
If you have anymore questions let me know.

Thanks for the info!! Greatly appreciated!!

LISA - You sly dog. :) I can't believe you're almost done! And you still have your two fails - how comforting. I went out of town this weekend and took my study material w/ me ;) I think I'm in good shape.

I sure hope that you only have to do minimal time in ATL and that you'll get ORD really soon. Having flown all weekend, I'm really ready to get there and start slinging those Cokes myself. I'm flying again this coming weekend, and I hope to be able to schlep over to the commuter concourse and be nosy.
Stay on top of things, Lisa. Can't wait to see you!!!

Seriously, you can't wait until the last minute to buy the items that they don't furnish (like shoes). It took me weeks to find comfortable shoes.

Just came back from the open house in ORD. PPL. seem to be very nice, they told us they will let us know within next two weeks. They told us if we wanted to get on very soon we better go with Republic, however I put SA as my first choice. They still don't have a training date for SA.

RJ, how long did it take them to get back to you?

RJ,
have we heard anything definitive yet? I think I have aged since we last interviewed. I have to dust off the new shoes I purchased...LOL...I have since accepted another position in the senior financing market. I couldn't turn it down. However, I am going to continue to wait out the game with SA. Who knows, I may not be pleased over next couple of weeks with this new company. Going to NY next week to train. In meantime, I am still in a holding pattern with you girl for SA.

Lisa, congrats to you for doing so well, and to all the others, best wishes, those gold wings are only a few days away!

Steve, It took my group 2 1/2 weeks to get our acceptance email, although they had told us 2 weeks. The people who were not selected received their email much sooner.

Although I feel quite sure that you're going to be invited to SA training in March, I completely agree with your decision to accept the other one anyway. Maybe you can have some fun "doing" NY next week. Are you going to have access to a computer so that we can keep you posted on things?

Hi Gonnafly,
I have been in mortgage banking for over 22 years. Since the credit market detioration, I have focused on the senior market and on reverse mortgages. It is very rewarding and i do love working with and assisting seniors. However, I am still waiting with y'all. Just never know what will happen when I actually get the training dates...you might see me yet. I'll keep in touch with everyone either way. the position is with Lender Lead Solutions (a reverse lending company based in NY).

It's so nice that you have another skill to fall back on. I'm having some second thoughts about this fa job, and wondering if I might want to pursue something that keeps me closer to home. I'm sure you'll be making more money in finance. I just got a bachelor's degree in communication and wonder what it will get me.

Hi I've been interested in becomming a F/A. Well in my line of work now, I run into alot of retired F/A and Pilots. And they say I would really enjoy it. So in 5 weeks a recruiting event is comming here and was wondering what to expect and look out for. I am a little nervous I've been wanting to do this for 3yrs now. So if anyone could give some helpful advise to calm these damn butterflies I would really appreciate it. thanx :)

I've been on several interviews and each one has had previous fa's applying, all with the same voice. They say it's the best job they ever had commenting on the flexible hours. Just think how good it will look on a resume if you decide not to stay with it!! You have to remember, the pay is not so great. If you have some other support then you'll be ok. Many fa's have a second job.

Well the job I have now pays around the same so I'm not really worried about that. But the training, it will be difficult to keep my present employment and go to the training. Ssoo I was wondering just how hard trainng is to prevent you from getting the job.Is it as difficult as I am letting my imagination let it be. Hard work doesn't scare me but I did hear that STUDYING is the killer part of it. Just looking for some GREAT advise to help me decided whether I wanna take Flight or stay Grounded.

Ok, now that's I've fully read this page of posts, Lisa says that we don't need to memorize them, so there ya go. I'm letting her be my guide as to what to stress about and what not to stress about.

LIQCANDI - The difficulty that you're reading about IS with the studying and the daily tests. You're only allowed to fail two tests before being sent home. But, that being said, if you have a good record (from school, college, etc.) of being able to study and do well, you'll pass. The people who aren't making it are the ones who are out drinking at night instead of applying themselves, OR the ones who haven't honed their study habits well enough. There will, however, be study groups and everyone helps everyone else.

Would you be able to return to your career if you didn't like training, or could you take a leave of absence perhaps?

AJZ - I can't help with the Chaut. codes specifically, but I do know that if you assign acronyms to them, it helps you to learn some of the ones that don't make any sense. For example: MCO (Orlando) - Micky & Company; MSY (New Orleans) - It was MeSsY after the hurricane, etc. etc. You'll be required to know them backward and forwards, i.e. they'll either give you the city OR the code, and you'll have to come up with the other part of it.

Lots of work to that service.
I am way past all that....
I think that is why they hire more on the
22-24 range. It is soooo detailed I got a headache listening to the presentation.
I had temporary ADD... I was totally out of touch with the entire process.
I had to drive today four hours in pouring rain.. floods you name it.

I think I am going to return to my

Im in nursing and well although it wont be hard for me to find employment after the hard part is over, I really like the agency that I am with.Umm,I was considering taking a leave, I will look into that. I've noticed that Chautauqua is based out of STL. I recently met a FA of 18yrs that works with them.He seems to enjoy it.He was my last inspiration of the matter. If you or anyone else that knows some of that "I wish I knew then what I know NOW" comments feel free to e-mail me.Im gonna go to the recruitting because it would be so unlike me to see something I want and not go for it. Hi RJ. Oh, ok, I thought I remembered those at that Delta shop being black, but now that you mention it, I guess it does make sense that they would be blue like the uniforms themself are, duh.

Oh, I don't know, maybe having second thoughts. Maybe it's just the idea of going away to a strange city and all that snow for 3 whole weeks. My husband is waiting to start his new job in Atlanta, so maybe it's just a combination of so many unknowns.
