uumm..let's see...they asked me why i wanted to be a flight attendant, who is a role model that i would look to for compassion, and tell about a time when you had to deal a problem co-worker and how you dealt with it. the actual one on one interview was only about 10 minutes.

RJ in Atlanta, Georgia said: AWAITING and EMPRESS - Growing up blows, doesn't it AWAITING? EMPRESS, I wish that I had had your courage to do this when I was younger, but was too busy doing the "safe" thing, working for the government and playing it safe. You're so lucky to be able to do this while you're still free of husband/children responsibilities. I hope you enjoy the daylights out of this. You'll have such cool stories to tell your kids. AWAITING and I are probably your mom's age, and waited until kids were grown and gone, and we were burned out on our earlier professions before we decided to try this. But I agree with you - I'm just grateful to be able to try it. Would love to be based anywhere and be able to relocate there, but I'll have to commute unless I can get based in ATL, and commuting is a tough thing to do - you basically have to add a day onto the front and back of your trips. BTW - I know that you're going to miss your beach. I sure miss mine.

RJ & Awaiting, I am married with 3 grown kids, and a beautiful 17 mo. old granddaughter. It's my time to be 'selfish' and do what I've always wanted to do, instead of being in a 23 year job I wanted out of!! I'll miss them when away, and when I'm home, I'll spend quality time.I finally can pursue MY dream & we will support each other when we miss friends and family, we are going to be a family here. Wherever based, it'll be wonderful to return home, if only for a few days!! We are so blessed to be where we are and we are gonna RULE the skies!!!

RJAtlanta in Atlanta, Georgia said: GWASH - You've got me ALL confused now. Did you decide not to go w/ Delta??? Are you really coming with us???

LITTLEBRITT - Honey, just wear a boardroom-type suit, dark color, conservative, wear your hair out of your face and neat, and when they ask you questions, they will be questions about yourself and what YOU are looking for in a job. Just be honest and be in touch with what YOUR feelings and goals are - that's all they're wanting to hear. If you've had jobs before, they might want to hear about those.

ORDFA - Thanks so much for your wisdom. We're not getting a lot of feedback here about which bases are going senior and which are not. Because many of us here interviewed in ATL and live in ATL, we are of course hoping to get ATL as soon as possible. It would seem that they would schedule their recruiting events in cities that they'd like to pull people from for those domiciles, but you never know.

QUEENIE - Hey girl! Are you still on Cloud 9? :)

WWILLIS - Thank you so much for bringing us into your world with the blog site. :)

Thanks for everything! I'm so scared but I can't wait!

ha no i guess i was just a little confused from your blog. i'm sure i was just reading it wrong. i filled out an online app towards the end of december, i got an email the next day saying thanks for applying and they would contact me if they felt i fit the position. i had kinda given up on it and just a couple days ago i had an email inviting me to a recruitment next week. i'm SO excited and so nervous at the same time. so hopefully all goes well!

the difference is in the planes. If memory serves me chaq has aircraft that only require one FA. Not sure about Republic but SA has two FAs on a plane. Go to their website and you can see the configurations of the aircraft and the ones that are 38 - 50 passengers require only one FA on board.

Empress K. you surprised me. By reading you past posts I assumed you were a young singe spring chicken. Either way, you are right it is your turn. The chicks have left the next and you are free to do as you please. I still have to get back to my kids who still live at home (11 and 16). they are very excited for me but it could still be an extra day away from them on each end of the pairing if I don't get based here in ATL.

I actually was invited to training with Northwest airlines --lets see now I think they were still Northwest Orient Airlines--over 23 years ago. I stayed back because "I was in love". needless to say, he did not turn out to be my husband...anyway, for empress K, she is doing this at the right time in life. I hope they (those our children's age) understand that we old broads may a lot of miles on us and with that also comes wisdom as well as responsibility. I think we are the courageous ones don't you RJ? If I actually attend the training in March (being pulled back into the lending world at present) I would be honored to be your roommate.

Then you can teach me all about reverse mortgages. :)

In addition to looking at the plane type and # of f/a's on them, you may also want to look at which base you prefer and see which airline can give you your preferred base. That's why some of us are sticking with Shuttle America, because we live in (and need to stay in) ATL. There is someone on here named ORD FA who is a current employee - why don't you ask them some questions also?

'hot' reserve-sitting in the crew room in uniform, on reserve.

reserve-on call, 90 min turn around time for you to be in the crew room.

and NO...you don't get to pick your roommate.

Yes, RJ they'll fly her "space available" to FTF in INDY. Your friend will need to do the on-line application.. and in the window that shows the open house dates.. she will need to scroll to the statement that she is not able to attend the open house event. In about two weeks an HR person will call her and schedule a time for her to fly to Indy.

LISA - I've been at S5 for a year and a half. I was on reserve for about 6 months, but it depends on what base you get. Hot reserves....ha....you will sit hot reserve. There aren't a certain number of hots, there are just always supposed to be one or two hots at the airport. Luckily, I've only done it a few times...but I do have friends who are Hot Reserve Queens/Kings. I just happened to luck out.

How is training going?!

ORD FA...

Thanks for the response!

The training is going great. As I am sure you remember...never ending hours of packing your head with information. Tons thrown at you each day. I am lovin it!

As far as the reserve (hot or otherwise) I don't mind being Queen of any of it...I am just hoping that I am able to get ORD. I am 2nd in line for ORD...so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Hopefully we will meet up soon! Keep me in your prayers...another big test this Wednesday...UGh!

RJ..................I miss our chats!!! Haven't really had time to keep up. 10 am starts, 8pm releases from class...then off to the hanger at 930 returning back at 1230am. That has happened twice in the last 4 days. They keep us hoppin here! Our 1st day off will be Tuesday, but will be studying all day/night for the big test Wednesday.

Niters all...130am right now in Indy...and a start time of 10:00am tomorrow. Last night I think I got 4 hours of sleep!

TKIZZLE - I'm thinking this is your week. It's been about 2.5 weeks for you. Remember my earlier advice - if you have spam filter on your computer, check it often. My acceptance email got caught up in my spam filter, and I didn't get my offer until way after my other "shipmates" got theirs.

Doing good here - can we say "exhausted"? Just took my 2nd test today and made my 2nd 100% (yea). I will keep in touch so that I can tell you what I'm going through - even though it won't be identical, it may give you a feel for things. (Although technically, you have been through this before!) :-)

Our third test will be Wed. We have lots and lots of tests!!!

Hi Awaiting - wish you could've been here!
