littlebritt in Indianapolis, Indiana said: haha i sure hope so! and yes its good to think. so RJ are you already hired? how does this open house event work? do tons of people attend? Britt, There were only about 50 people at my open house, and after the first cut there were approximately 22 of us left to finish out the day. |
|
RJAtlanta in Atlanta, Georgia 9 months ago |
We went around the room and briefly introduced ourselves, and from that, they decided who they wanted to keep and who would be let go. Those of us who were hired were notifed within about 2 1/2 weeks. |

Ahh that's what's scares me so much I don't know what to say! Hi my name is britt, I'm 20 I don't know why I'm so scared about this! |
|
RJAtlanta in Atlanta, Georgia 9 months ago |
Here's the key to making the cut. When you stand up to introduce yourself, do it in such a way that they can see that you're not afraid of speaking to a group. They're trying to get an idea of how well your do in front of people. So, don't act self-conscious or scared. Just tell your name, where you're from, an interesting fact about yourself, and why you want to be a f/a (and don't say "because I like to travel"). Say something about customer service and how you enjoy serving other peoples' needs. |

Wear your hair back and out of your face, minimal jewelry, and wear a business suit. You'll be great! |
|

Ah thanks! I'm so excited! |
|
littlebritt in Indianapolis, Indiana 9 months ago |
I plan on wearing a business suit, my hair is pretty short should I still worry about pulling it back? All I have to say is I better get an interview/hired...I got a mani for this! Haha |

RJAtlanta in Atlanta, Georgia 9 months ago |
Be sure to post tomorrow after you get home so we can all hear how it went, ok? |

The only people who didn't get picked either dressed inappropriately, or didn't show any personality during the introduction. You'll do fine. |

This is the first "real interview" Ive had. I mean I have had interviews but they last like 5 minutes and I've usually had some kind of in with the company, I guess that's why I'm so nervous. Ill do fine just gotta think positive. Im for sure not shy person I've been a cheerleader since I was 4 years old. Ha just gotta breathe! |
|
RJAtlanta in Atlanta, Georgia 9 months ago |
Well, in that case - you've got it made. Just let them see that outgoing personality of yours. And use the words "customer service" in your intro. |

LOL RJ!!! I am positive! Speaking of a girls best friend. Ladies...earrings...studs only!!! Small ones at that!!! Diamond, pearl, silver or gold. Necklace...plain gold or silver chain...no pendant. So why bother right? (But can be worn if hidden under the uniform..out of the eye of the customer. 2 rings max...1 on each hand...wedding ring and engagement ring if worn together count as only 1. So keep the good stuff at home...you can almost never wear it unless its your day off. Just an FYI |

Also, make certain your shoes are polished and your hands are manicured. Employers often check out your shoes and your hands will be visible. |

awaiting in alpharetta in Alpharetta, Georgia said: Hey RJ, Hey AWAITING. No, I can't do OS - there's no hope of an ATL base with them, and I just can't imagine commuting permanently. It's too hard. You see, even if they have reciprocal agreements with an airline that flies out of ATL, THAT airline's employees get preferential standby status, so you would ALWAYS be on the bottom of the standby list. That's just too "iffy". I just got off the phone with my friend who recommended me for the Shuttle A. job - she's now based in ATL, and says that life is a LOT easier being able to fly out of your home city, and that it is taking no time at all for Shuttle f/a's to get ATL. So, I think I'd better stick with the home team. Have you factored in the cost of a permanent crash pad against what your salary will be? |

I thought I was going to be able to wear my old USAirways trench coat, but either I gained weight or the silly thing shrank while sitting in the closet. Not! Looks like I'll have to get a new one. As for the uniforms being small - yea, I remember that. Did you get the dress or the pants and jacket? (You'll look cute in either with your blond hair). Hey! I ordered the dress (short-sleeve), skirt, and Audrey Jacket (the shorter one). Oh, and obviously the coat. |

I was offered a definite training date with Compass for March 3rd! Ahh I don't know what to do! Any suggestions? They're opening a Memphis base for this training class, so I could handle that kind of commute or relocation. I hate all this decision making! lol |

I got an offer from Shuttle, so I go to training either the end of March or sometime in April. The 2 1/2 weeks training is doable from a dog-mommy standpoint - I have my pet-sitters all lined up. As for working, I'll get ATL at some point - either right out of training or hopefully somewhere soon down the road, so everything should work out beautifully. |

If not, you could definitely accept the Compass offer, even go to training, and if you get a better offer from someone else, you can always take it. A couple of other people are doing just that. Congratulations! |

No one noticed her... Which I thought was funny...even though she barfed in her bag and it got on my butt! Nycgirl gave me the heads up and I cleaned up that mess. :)
BUT! It was said today that OS was hiring experienced FA's in order to get the first fly off the ground. Since my experience is 'years' ago.... I think I may be at the bottom of the pack.
WHEN are you going to Shuttle?

Hi littlebritt: Congratulations on going through the interview & good luck on getting the offer. I was glad to hear that you were home by 3:00pm. How many people went to the recruiting session? I am going tomorrow & requested to be off from my job until 3:00pm. I am worried about being late so it was a relieve to read that you were home by 3:00p. Thanks for the update & good luck. Hopefully we will all meet in the April S5 class. |
