There is about i think 50 or so codes that has to be memorized for training.
They will send you the airport codes to you when they send you the training packet.
When you do get the codes, i would recommend you look over them and know them before you get there.

Are u going to the Shuttle class this month?

50! Lucky SA, Chautauqua has 110! But hey, I have them down :)

When you guys got your passport expedited and they sent your birth certificate away with it...did u get it back? The guy at the post office said I will get it back but I got my passport today and no birth certificate...if anyone knows and could let me know I would greatly appreciate it :) Thanks! ~Sara~

Hmmm. I thought I got my birth certificate back at the same time as I received my passport, but it was over a month ago and my brain is so full of all of the other stuff we're having to have memorized, that I just can't recall other than that I did get it back. :)

CA in Indiana - SA training - very soon! said: RJ, thank you soooo much for the packing tips:) I am adding to my shopping list daily! Question about the watch: do they require that we have a specific style/type of watch? I had a feeling I'd have to get my hair cut shorter...thanks for letting me know!

CA

On the watch, silver, gold, or silver/gold combo band, OR a plain black leather band.
Glad the packing tips helped. :)

Juanita in Chicago, Illinois said: Thanks RJ for the food tips. I just received my offer letter and study packet today. I interviewed last Wednesday in Indy and received a call from Corrina today for Shuttle training starting May, 30. I am excited and I hope I get Chicago because I live about 45 minutes from O'Hare. Can you tell me about how the pay went? I was reading about the pay in the packet but a bit confusing. I calculated it to be about 250.00 a week but I did not include per diem. I live well over 50 miles of Indy so I will definitely stay at the hotel.
Thanks for the help and CONGRATS!

Training pay is Indiana minimum wage (whatever THAT is). We haven't received our paychecks yet. :)

Hi, everyone!!!! I got my call today! Thank you to Juanita for posting last night about May 30 training. I got nervous and worried that I may have been forgotten so I left a message for Corina this morning and she called me back a couple hours later and invited me to the May 30 training:) I'm printing my welcome packet and study guide right now! Fabulous, your call should be coming very soon I would assume:) Sorry bout the omission on the list...I'll add ya;)

LJGrace, yes there is sooo much wonderful info on this forum. I stayed up for hours every night reading through the 4000+ posts and made notes as I went. Everyone on here is so very helpful and sweet:) Don't sike (sp?) yourself out for the interview. Just stay postive, put on a smile, make eye contact and be yourself:) I cannot answer the question about the shuttle from the airport to corp. office because when I interviewed we were at a hotel by the airport and I drove in. Good luck!!

Thanks so much CA for keeping tabs for all of us. It's been fun watching the list grow and seeing a few of the people who will be in our own class depending upon which airline we chose.

By the looks of it, there are either very few people getting ready to join Republic, or very few of them surf the internet looking for information about the career they are wishing to or getting ready to pursue. By the comment made previously about the size of the latest graduating class, I'm sure there are quite a few more folks that we'll have the happy prospect of meeting when we get there. I don't know about any of the rest of you, but I'm sooooo excited about getting to and through training and finally up in the air. I'm short (just under 5'2"), and I know in years past it would have been unheard of for anyone under about 5'5" to even think about joining the ranks of flight attendants, so I'm telling all of my friends that they've lowered their standards (no pun intended), so that's why I was called. :) Anyway, I can't wait to meet all of you!

Hang in there, anyone still waiting for the call. They indicated at the recruiting event that I attended, that it is expected that the employee count will double by next year from the current count of approximately 1500, so odds are, you'll get that call. Just be patient and keep reading the posts because you'll be glad you've been able to take advantage of all of this information prior to attending your training.

Okay so it's 1:00am. Told you I was excited!
Goodnight ;)

I'm not entirely sure if indy is a long shot-i just figure since its what we want we prob wont get it haha...for republic they have Indianapolis, IN, Columbus, OH, Pittsburgh, PA, Philadelphia, PA, Washington D.C., and Denver, CO. :)

It's nice to see you all back on the forum again!
Also, congratulations to everyone who was recently hired!
I am getting very excited for training! Only a few days away! I can't wait to meet all of my fellow CHQ trainees!

Anyways, I do have a few questions so any feedback is greatly appreciated!

1) As far as the tests on the city codes/definitions--what are the test formats? Is it multiple choice, fill in the blank, etc?

2) I received my travel information e-mail...do I print it out and take it to the gate? Also...there was no information on there about what hotel I am staying at. Should there have been?

I've left a couple of messages with some of the recruiters but haven't heard back.

Anyways... talk to you soon guys! Thanks Again!!

Like many others on this site I started my flight attendant career at CHQ. I was really surprised at how fast they responded back to me after attending a open house. At the time I was living in Atlanta, Ga and was hoping to get Shuttle America. A few days later I received a call from the Hr department who told me I was selected for CHQ. I was thrilled, for the first time I was making a true change in my life so I accepted the position. A few days later I received a fed-ex package with my training materials. Boy was it long. LOTS AND LOTS of city codes to remember. After I had drilled the 100+ city codes in my head I decided to work on the boarding speech. (Only to find out that all of Republic Holdings; CHQ, S5, and RP have CD announcements) Before I knew it its now time for training...

At first like many others, I had never heard of Republic. Who where they? Where do I fly? While I was not new to the airline industry republic was a new company to me. Anyways back to my tale. Training had finale arrived and I was ecstatic. Indianapolis, IN for three weeks! A new city for me. I arrived at the hotel and was surprised to see a nice mix of people. Some young, Some old, more females than males but still a nice mix

Leah - don't worry - all of the numerals don't have to show on the watch. Sorry about omitting the brown band option. I DID discover this week on my IOE that having all of the numerals was helpful to ME in being able to set my watch to the exact time showing on the pilots' readout up front in the cockpit (they're VERY strict about on-time performance, and much of what you as the f/a do will depend on having the same time as that which the pilots are using.)

PINK - They ARE strict about your purse being "in compliance" once you're working (black, no adornments/ornaments, large metal rings, logos, etc.), but I saw plenty of cute, colorful purses during training, so I don't think that what you bring to training will matter. I carried a Vera Bradley messenger bag around all the time (which was DEFINITELY not black and in compliance).

For whoever asked about the format of test questions, they use mostly multiple choice, unless you're having to label a diagram or do an oral or experiential test.

I just returned from my IOE today, which was a two-day trip including Monterrey, Mexico. What a wonderful trip! It's so much fun to do a trip like that AND have a fun crew to share it with.
