Definitely do it if you can. Malti is so right about getting in ASAP for seniority reasons. I wish I could go early, but no such luck. When were you originally scheduled to begin training?

Hello everyone.....Looks like I need to join Delta/NWA forum now since I will be training with them. The one thing great about NWA was they did all of the background check within one week of hiring me. I knew I was in and wouldn't encounter any problems at training. Have everything you need back ten years...and if a business is closed..find a number for them, even copy your degrees. It was over the holidays and they couldnt confirm my degree. She just asked me to fax it and I was done. Good luck to you all. I will see you in the airports all over the world.

Can anyone put any truth to this? One of my friends works for United & said that after completing training and getting hired on to the company, she received a "bonus", or a couple hundred dollars. She said it kinda of compensated her for the training for which was unpaid. Does CAL do this? Is this a common practice among airlines. Of course, I was told that training is unpaid, and I expect that... but her saying this has truly gotten my hopes up for a little money after getting hired.

United does give a bonus for completing Phase 2 of the training. CAL does not give you a bonus, they give you 20 dollars a day and provide breakfast and lunch. CAL will however give you a small amount of money deducted from your check to help in moving.

Still no response from CAL 17 hours (and counting!) later. Don't know if I made it into the earlier 0803 or not.

Malti, I had to reschedule my interview with CAL I have the flu. I am schedule for the 5th of March interview.

I received the same email for the March class, but I am bypassing it also. The April class will work much better for me.

What day are the requesting you attend the March class? How far moved up is it?
I see that you are saying they want you to move from April to March.

The email was for class 0803 (3 classes up), starting March 17. Still no email back from CAL, so I'm not sure what's happening.

Justy, if there is around 30 to a class, i would have to say you probally got the move up date, and CAL will probally notify you tomorrow or monday, that would be my guess.....

Thanks. I was trying to plan ahead if I even get the job after the GI or whenever they offer it to you. Just in case, you know.
I try not to have pending dates in the future.

Tony, my friend that is currently an FA for CAL told me today that she has heard of classes with anywhere from 30-80 trainees and that they are starting a new class every two weeks. 80 seems like an awful lot of people, but I guess it's possible.

80 sounded crazy to me too, but she said that they still have to hire about 500 more FAs, and they will be hiring through the summer. I am guessing that some people are getting hired on sooner with other airlines or that they are just changing their minds about being FAs. Therefore, earlier spots are opening up for all of us who are scheduled for later training dates.

I heard that trainig was fun, but that you definitely have to pay attention, work hard, and study. My friend reminded me today that CAL picked us b/c they want us to work for them. They are willing to do whatever it takes to help us learn, get good grades in training, and become world class FAs. We just have to do our part as well. : )

I am pretty sure they are ONLY hiring for Newark. They told us when we interviewed that there was a 99.9% chance that we were going to be based there. However, that doesn't mean that you can't put in for a transfer after two or three months if you would rather be based elsewhere.

Sherry, it took them a good month to contact me as well. Some people hear back as early as a few weeks, and for some it takes longer. I would guess it depends on how many applications they are getting/considering right now. I hope you hear something soon!

Sherry, I applied in September and received an email in November about scheduling an interview and that took place another month later. I'm pretty sure that it'll probably take another month before you hear about an interview...

I applied on December 11 and got my e-mail for the GI on February 15th. They sent some e-mails in between letting me know that they were reviewing my application to keep me informed. NWA is doing the same.

I put in an application with Continental back in December, but have not heard from them as of yet. Does anyone know approximately how long it takes to receive a phone call after submitting an application? I imagine it varies from person to person. I'm slowly learning that nothing is done with any sort of consistency or predictability in this crazy business of airlines.

Tony, I gotta keep myself honest. My friend said that there are as many as 80 people going through training at the same time, not in one class. Average is usually around 40..she had 47 in her training class in February of last year. Hope this helps and clears up any confusion I may have caused. Sorry about that!

I got a call from HR, after having sent an email that I was having technical difficulties with my resume on their sight, and the man from HR told me that I might not hear anyting for a week. Is this true or was he feedlng me a line? Are they even hiring right now?

I think he was being honest with you..it can take up to a month or more to get a call back after you submit your application. And yes, they are definitely hiring!!
