Just wondering if there are any current or former flight attendants who could give me some information about North American Airlines. I hear that they have a high turnover rate and wondering why that is. I'm debating to go to the open house this week. I'm so looking to start a job as a flight attendant but I've always pictured myself working for a company like Delta or Continental, however, it seems a lot easier to get a job with North American. I know they have a limited schedule of flights to Ghana, Guyana and Nigeria. I understand the bulk of their flights are charter flights, which seems great but I also hear they are used a lot by the military. This makes me wonder if they travel to places like Iraq, in which case I would not be interested in working for them. I don't have any desire to travel to war zones or third world nations. If anyone can shed some light on this company, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The mayor airlines like Delta, Continental, American and United are flying to the third world nations,no sure about war zone if you don't feel good flying to these countries. You should apply for local airlines only, but remenber if you do not speak the language of these countries I don't see you going there.

By the way some of the third world nations have more to offer, you don't know what you are missing...:(

I've heard that some of these countries are quite beautiful and I'm sure safe where tourists stay. I'm still trying to find out more information about that particular airline, North American Airlines, from the point of view of a current or former flight attendant. The fact that they have such a high turnover rate concerns me, as does the quality of the service that they provide. The one thing I do notice is that I've never heard of North American being in financial jeopardy as you hear with all of the other major airlines. North American has been around nearly 20 years and I've never heard any news about them going bankrupt or having to merge with other airlines to stay afloat.

I was going to say something similar. I have been to severl third world countries and they are full of places to see and discover and I have not found people more humble than in these places. Give them a try. You will at least have fun.

I just finished my Spanish assesment test. It felt like an interview.

I heard about discontining service to Nigeria and Guyana,I read something about flying to Israel, also look into the north america airlines webside, you will find good information while you waiting for the point of view of a current or former flight attendant. Here is one link maybe can help you. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_America_Airlines

Hello everyone! I was supposed to have my interview with Delta today at 12:30, but it didn't happen. As of yesterday, I still had not received my flight info for the FTF, so I called and left a message for a recruiter to call me back. Well, at 11:30 p.m. last night I received an e-mail saying that I was required to drive to the interview today, b/c I am considered a "local candidate" due to the fact that I live in the state of Georgia. This was the first I ever heard about being a local candidate, and was previously booked on two other flights to Atlanta for the FTF that had to be cancelled due to me coming down with the flu and another time b/c of a recruiter error. I sent People Scout an e-mail last night and explained my confusion and let them know that I didn't have my car to drive to Atlanta today (it's at the dealership for maintenance, and I planned to take a cab to the airport). Then, I got a call from a recruiter first thing this morning saying my interview was cancelled, that I was being removed from the list of potential candidates, and that I could reapply in 6 months.

Needless to say, I was very disappointed that they would not reschedule me for another FTF, especially since no one let me know that my travel plans had changed until 7 hours prior to the time I needed to leave for the interview. Has this happened to anyone else?

I am certainly not mad at Delta b/c of this incident, but I am a little frustrated that People Scout did not take take any credit for the mistake. Maybe it just wasn't meant to be for me to work for Delta, and this was the world's way of telling me that. I am just sad that I did not have the chance to show Delta what I have to offer.

Congrats to everyone who did make it to the FTF and got an offer, and thanks to everyone who gave me support throughout the whole interview process (Sophie, i love Delta, Sarah, etc.) You guys are great, and I wish you the best of luck! :)

The moment I walked in and saw ALL the FA looking at you I started working the room (a political term) and it payed. My appointment was at 12:30 and by 5pm they took us out of the room and into HR. we did all the paperwork and got out a few hours later.

Again, to everyone who wrote their experiences and their ideas - THANK YOU, I would have never done it without your experience.

one advice- work at it from the moment you are given your sticky badge to put on your suit jacket.

DO wear a jacket with a collar and a shirt with a collar as well. DO NOT use a skirt that its too short or too tight. I heard afterwards they do not like it.

Handshakes MUST be firm and strong. and when they tell you to go ahead and take some snacks from the cart, get to it first and play the role of a FA and it will add points to your score. SMILE SMILE and smile some more. The FA will be in full uniform and will be looking at you from the back at all times.

Good luck and DO read all the posts here with all the advice and you will make it like I did.

Any more questions let me know.

the closest you will get is Kuwait City - the high turnover is due to lopay and low hours - lack of flexibility - alot of time on the road - like 18 days away per month - mostly on call - can't trade or drop trips. It's great if you are single and can be gone - with nothing keeping you at home. I almost took a similar job - but got hired by Delta instead.

I'm sorry to heard that, but you can't give then any excuse when are at there more than 50.000 applications, and I remember when I was filling up the application online they are very clear when they say NO transportations for those who life in Atlanta,if the made a mistake telling you about your ticket and then you cancel because the flu or your car is not with you, etc. that's the same excuse they try to avoid whem you are a flight attendant, they will call you in 2 hours or less and you has to be there, with flu, without car or without ticket. Try another airlines, Good Luck.

i have read in a few different place that the turnover rate for fa's industry wide is high but for those that stick with it, career satisfaction is also very high.

try southwest. they are hiring and its all domestic flights.

There must be a reason for that and who knows, your time with Delta may just be 6 months away. If I were you, I will try again! =)

Do not slush on those red and blue sofas. Sit straight and always carry a conversation with someone different.

My post was more so to tell about my experience and to thank all those who gave me support during the Delta interview process. When I got the flu, I had no voice, could barly speak above a whisper, and it was a must for me to reschedule. I would not have gotten any further than the introduction portion of the interview process had I gone with no voice. The recruiter could barely understand me when I called to reschedule, and he said that it was best for me to schedule another FTF when I got my voice back. It really would have been a waste of Delta's time for me to have gone, and the recruiter agreed.

I already have a job with another airline, but I wanted to give Delta a shot since I could eventually transfer back to the South where I have always lived. I honestly was not making excuses, that is not the kind of person I am at all, and I understand that you have to be at the airport within two hours notice. However, my car would not have been at the dealership for maintenance had I been on reserve and anticipated a possible call. It was there this time b/c I was told I was being flown to Atlanta, and I trusted that was the way things would go. Either way, I am okay with the outcome. Again, I just wanted to tell my story and thank those who were so nice to me along the way. :)

Anyone receive a phone call offer after 5 weeks from the F2F?

Here's the deal people: qualified people get turned away. Who knows what they are looking for. I interviewed the 2nd week of January. They told us we were still in competition and that we would hear back in 3 weeks. 3 weeks came and went, and sadly nothing. I would definitely not put your hopes on a Delta job. I speak French with native fluency, hold a bachelors degree in French, and did everything very well. Even my interviewer told me I was highly recommended for the job when I was walking out the door. Anyways, for those of you going to the interview, you might get selected, but even then it could be for some weird superficial reason. I would like to know if anyone reading the board got a phone call 3,4,5, or 6 weeks after their F2F? My hope is basically shot, but I still have dreams once in a while that I'm doing the job, and then I wake up all pissed that I still think about this in my sleep.

Good Luck to all, sorry to be Debbie Downer, but I guess I'm still a tad disappointed.

You know... you CAN be considered over qualified.=)
Delta picked a wide range of qualified and then... some not so qualified. EOE... that's the core with Delta.. and many other corporations. Its life in America. Sometimes your education works for you... and then sometimes it does not. Try getting into an Ivy League University...
Quotas are a b*t*h.

Not to worry, STARBUCKS, you're "preaching to the choir." There's many of us here disappointed and confused as to some of their choices and as to what they're actually looking for. Seems like great qualifications, great outfit, great personality and great looks don't always help for their selection process. Go figure, huh?....
Ils sont vraiment betes de ne pas voir ceux qui sont super bien pour ce boulot! :-)

I have a F2F next friday. I am a 45 year old male have worked in healthcare for 24 years in all areas ICU, emergency and trauma ped ICU etc. I have away's wanted to be a FA and have a friend that flew for DAL for 30 years. My question is d they hire older people? Or are they looking for a specific type? I l have a passion for taking care of people and have devoted my whole career to doing so. I just need a change and think the FA career would be a good fit. Any input or suggestions.

I LOVE- I had an error on my application that took me ALL of this time to get fixed. So basically I had to wait 2.5 months for my FTF, but I'll be there tomorrow!
At least I'm prepared after talking to people here for so long! =)

NATASHA- I did get a new suit. Actually, I probably went a little overboard at Banana Republic yesterday, but it was fun! =)
