MattATL in Atlanta, Georgia said: I LOVE- I had an error on my application that took me ALL of this time to get fixed. So basically I had to wait 2.5 months for my FTF, but I'll be there tomorrow!
At least I'm prepared after talking to people here for so long! =)

NATASHA- I did get a new suit. Actually, I probably went a little overboard at Banana Republic yesterday, but it was fun! =)

MattAtl - good luck with everything. This message board has helped me to prepare for the process as well, you'll do just fine. Have fun with it & all the best!

Go for it.... What do you have to lose? I believe they are taking people of all ages/backgrounds etc. If anything, it's a great experience. :-)

I am a 45 year old male have worked in healthcare for 24 years in all areas ICU, emergency and trauma ped ICU etc. I have away's wanted to be a FA and have a friend that flew for DAL for 30 years. My question is d they hire older people? Or are they looking for a specific type? I l have a passion for taking care of people and have devoted my whole career to doing so. I just need a change and think the FA career would be a good fit. Any input or suggestions.

they hire all ages (oldest I've read is 57)...we haven't figured out the magic formula for getting hired...just be yourself..but I'll be sure to page you in a medical emergency!!

Should I cal and ask what is going on with my BG check, or should I jsut patiently sit on my hands and wait cause this waiting is driving me crazy. All I ahd were dreams about airlines last night!

Ok. let's say I get super luckky and they pick me the day of the f2f and I go through to hr and drug screening, etc, like i';ve heard has happened to some.................I know when you take a drug screening you have to write down all the drugs you might be taking at the time. If I put down xanax, or something like it, etc, do i have to explain why I'm taking it and do they frown uponn such medication and can they reject you for that reason? Anyone know?

They dont test for xanax, and I didn't have to put down what prescriptions I was taking. They test for marijuana, opiates, amphetamines, methaphetamines, cocaine, pcp, and alcohol

If they decide to give you a conditional offer at your F2F interview, you will do fingerprinting, drug testing, and background check forms there that day. When they say the interview will be 5-7 hours, it will be 5 hours if you do not get hired on the spot, 7 hours if you do. That additional 2 hours is for drug testing and fingerprinting and filling out paperwork

Isn't it less than 5 hours for those that are turned away immediately following introductions? That's what has been said on other threads on here.

That wasn't how my interview went, everyone introduced themselves, then we were split into 3 groups, and everyone got a face to face interview nobody was turned away

Stephanie-

i was tested for italian. the lady was really nice and we talked for a minute about italy and where i lived there, ect. then she gave me directions and told me what we would be doing. some of the questions were strange, but they just want to see that you can use your grammar and vocabulary well. i was really nervous before, thought i failed when i finished, then found out i passed the next day. yay! what language do you speak?

but my advice to you would be to concentrate on preparing for the interview in atlanta first. take it one step at a time or you will get overwhelmed. and good luck!

Maygirl,

I am so very sorry to hear what happened to you, concerning your Delta ftf interview. I don't feel as though peoplescout handled your situation properly. Do you plan to go with CAL no matter what now? Everything does happen for a reason, however...you should have been accommodated with the changes as were previously scheduled. I wish you luck in your endeavors. Talk to you soon.

I speak Spanish. I"ve been a high school Spanish teacher. Although I speak quite well, or use to, teaching high schoolers doesn't help me much with my spanish and not having been in Mexico or Spain for awhile, I forget sometimes. I'm usually fine until i'm nervous, like in an over-the-phone interview to test me on my language skills. LOL.

Stephanie,
I taught High schoolers as well and i totally identify with how you expressed what you are feeling.
Anyhow, I was sooo nervous....should find out tomorrow though, or Friday the latest. I think as language teachers, we are probably hard on ourselves. i know I am.
Buena suerte

Hi, Sophie. I was excited about Delta, b/c I have heard wonderful things about them, but I love CAL too. I have a few other opportunities circling out there, and while I am not sure where I'll end up, I know it will be the right place for me. Thanks so much for your continued support. It means a lot! Good luck at your FTF, and please let me know what you decide. Take care!

You know what I say at this point? Screw the flight attendant job...they can keep it!! I'm sick and tired of jumping through hoops like I'm begging to work for their airline....for what?? The pay is low, the passengers can be awful, and lest we not forget that they can lay your ass off at the first sign of financial trouble.....absolutely 0 job security. I'm tired of trying to figure out reasons for why they don't hire what seem like qualified individuals. I find the entire experience demeaning and, had I known it was going to be this insane, I would not have entertained the thought of becoming a flight attendant in the first place!

there are 2 different interview types....mostly there are about 40 people and everyone gets an interview.....then, there is the mass mob - only has happened twice..where there are about 200 or so people - they divide you into two groups based on last name....you give a brief introduction and they cut your group down to about 35 from there. It's only happened twice - not sure when the next mass mob will pop up. The first one was 1/17 - took everyone by surprise.

Thanks! I'll call them tomorrow. Does anyone know if our info goes to people scout after USIS, and then to Delta? I know USIS is done with my info and has "sent it on forward". Forward to where, I don't know. None of my personal references have been called though. My employer wasn't called either. I'm just not sure if they are even close to being done with my BG check or not. My ftf was on the 7th of February.

Hello All! So, I tried to log into the Delta site and it kept saying that my reference number is incorrect. I know it's right beacuse it's etched in my brain! Is that a bad sign that I can no longer log into the site? I remember reading somewhere on the forum that it's not a good sign. BTW, some candidates from my F2F have already gotten their "thanks, but no thanks" emails. I haven't gotten one (fingers crossed).

Just to share my interview scenario: Approx 60 ppl were there originally. After an informational presentation we were split into 2 grps. We did our 30 sec intro's. Then we were gathered into 1 grp again for more info stuff. Then they released about 30 ppl. The remaining 30 were split into 2 grps. 1 grp completed thier applications while the other grp was having thier F2F. Our F2F's were 2 Delta F/As : 1 applicant. As ppl finished thier F2F they joined those compleing applications, and someone who was originally completing thier application were brought into a F2F. Finally, everyone was done w/ thier app & F2F. They broke us into 3 or 4 groups. I know that 1 grp was given conditional offers, 1 one given the maybe speach. I am not sure what happened to the others. Hope that helps! Best, Christi
