DELTA INTERVIEW PROCESS

Can anyone tell me whether or not its a bad thing to call and see if everything I did was ok? I did the assesment test, the application, and I passed the initial phase of questions, but I have not heard back yet and im going on my 3rd week. Please let me know and congratulations to all that have made it to the training.

call them- that's what I did and they did an interview right on the spot... for some reason all the emails don't always go out.

What is the gurantee for Delta per month?

I was told by them that if you have a bunch of languages written down, you only need to pass one.

you're guaranteed pay for 72 hours min.--but if you drop flights, i'd imagine that's on your dime.

Hi mary congratulation to you. did it take 4 weeks for them to call you after you had ftf interview. i actually had nmy ftf interview on feb 22 nd. i did not get it on the sopt, so i am still hoping. i live close to you. roswell area.

I speak a little Spanish. I never insinuated that I was fluent and I did not expect a test!! The language assessment was very difficult for me. The native speaker spoke Spain-spanish, and I'm used to Mexican-spanish. Also, my friend who helped me brush-up is from Uruguay! So, I was constantly asking the reviewer to speak slowly, rephrase, and repeat! I think failing the language test caused my review to take a little longer, but I still got a class date and I'll be an English-only FA.

And just a heads-up: they asked some strange questions...like, "do you prefer color photos or black and white?...and WHY?" (honestly, I can barely think of a reason in English why I prefer color photos...uh, cause I like colors?), and "what is your favorite date and why?" My birthday?? Christmas?? Again, very strange questions.

Thank you so much for your info! congrat on your class date. I was told if I don't pass the language test, I won't get to go to training. How do you know that you did not pass the test? You may have done better than you expected. Thanks and good luck in training

I was told by Delta HR that if you have various languages down, that you only need to pass one. But if you just have put down one language and don't pass it, then you can be in trouble.

Is it a good thing when they tell you that you will hear from a senior recruiter???

I have done the assessment, the application, and 2 phone interviews. I was then told that she would pass my information on to a senior recruiter and if they had any questions they would call me.

yeah that doesn't sound good. People who make it to the F2F are told right after the 2nd phone interview that they made it to the final interview in Atlanta. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for them to call you back. Sounds like they're just letting you off nicely. Maybe there are people who have been called after being told that, but I haven't heard of anyone on these boards say so.

that's what i've heard too, unfortunately... :(

i got my f2f invite right after my 2nd interview. they said "hold on while we add some info to your file" then i held for a bit, and then they came back on the phone and said 'congratulations, we'd like to move you forward in the interview process...' and all that stuff. i think most people who went to f2f had that experience too.

however, i think they do hold applications and files in case spots open up...i know they can keep them with HR for months.

I have been trying to schedule my interview and was told to call back on Friday and then on Friday was told they are backed up and that if I don't hear from them by Monday-so I called today and was told they are all booked up and that they would call me when there is availabilty-was anyone else told this? I am sooo anxious! Ah!

Bring a copy of your drivers license and passport. They will make a copy but it will help if you already have it. You will also fill out another application so bring all your past employers. (you will need the past 10 years of jobs plus places you lived)

Knowing that--why would they be so concerned about hiring over 1500 new FA's and putting them through the expense of training??? Doesn't really make sense. Plus, if the merger does happen after courts, etc. the process would have to take at least a year.

Because they probably need people now, not later when the merger takes place, since training is only 6 weeks. And not being unionized I can see a cause for concern here.

Alex your correct I have been a flight attendant for many years and have got out of it for the last few years ... I know alot of people are new to this career i hate to see more victoms to these airlines... it wont take a year it will only take a few months. think out every step you make in life

Has anyone that failed the language assesment heard back from Delta yet?? The person told me 7-10 days its day 7 and I'm dying...I don't want to move on but I am afraid I may have too...

NEW YORK (Associated Press) - Continental Airlines Inc. said its pilots union voted to boost its merger fund to prepare for a potential combination with another carrier.

Talk of consolidation has swirled throughout the industry, with Northwest Airlines Corp. and United Airlines parent UAL Corp. previously seen as potential merger partners for Delta Air Lines.

Capt. Jay Pierce, who leads the local Continental pilots' union, which is represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, said Continental pilots are preparing for a possible merger.

"If we determine that a merger is designed for the benefit of airline executives, Wall Street financial groups and legal firms at the expense of pilots, airline employees and the flying public, we will use all lawful means necessary to ensure the completion of that transaction is unsuccessful," Pierce said in a statement on Monday.

The pilots union will support a merger if given a share in the equity of the combined company and an expedited collective bargaining agreement with substantial improvements for all pilots, among other stipulations.

Hello everyone! I am currently going through the interview process with Delta and have read all the previous posts and am now more nervous then ever. I am calling for my phone interview tomorrow and am wondering if anyone could tell me what to expect? Also, if called for a ftf interview are they looking for people that stand out in the crowd or are just generally genuine, friendly people? Thanks and good luck to you all!

they're not looking for a "type". Just go and be yourself. In my opinion the odds of getting picked in the spot at the FTF are about the same as putting everyones name in a hat, and drawing them randomly. So don't worry about that. Do the best you can, and hopefully you will be lucky enough to get picked. It's a great experience nonetheless.

After waiting 3 painful weeks, I have received my training date for April 1st. I am happy this process has finally come to an end and now I will be training and flying soon. To all of you who are waiting for "the call", just be patient and hang in there. They will call eventually. I know this process is emotionally draining but it is worth it......Anyone else in the April 1st class?

Hi everyone! I was just wondering how long it took for you to get an email after you completed your first phone interview, online application, and assessment? I just completed all of them today. Also I am wondering if you do get into training and you live in the atlanta area, do you still have to stay in the housing they provide or can you commute? Just curious. Hi Michelle! I have also gone through exactly what you have to this point. I am still waiting and its been 3 weeks. I called last week just to make sure everything was ok with my information I sent them. The person I spoke to said everything was good and that basically I just have to wait to hear from a senior recruiter through email. I know if your like me your probably going crazy right now. I also heard that it could take anywhere from 2 weeks to 3 months because they go through so many applications. This whole waiting thing is killing me, but I am very excited about this oppurtunity and I am really anxious to start this new phase of my life. It should be awesome at the training in GA. I have not heard if you can stay somewhere else though instead of the dormitory style housing they provide. Hey Michelle, thats pretty cool that your from Watertown, I didn't think anyone knew about Oneonta in upstate NY. Anyway, that does stink that you can't be in the dorms. I know its a good time to bond with the rest of your classmates. Think of if this way though, you will know where a lot of the good places to go eat are and you can tell the rest of us about whats good in Atlanta. Do you know exactly what kind of living situation it is in the dorms? I hope we hear from them soon too. It would be awesome if we had our FTF on the same day then we could meet up and talk about this exciting job and upstate NY or whatever. I called Delta tonight because I wanted to make sure that they had gotten my application since everytime I hit the button it just said your form has been saved successfully, but it never said sent. He said that they had gotten it and to just wait for an email or call. God, I am realizing that I am not as patient as I once thought. lol! I'm not sure what the living situation is like, but I am sure that I could find out for you. My best friend is a pilot for Delta and I'm sure he would know. He was telling me that he has had a lot of NEW fa's on his flights lately, he flys out of NY so if I ever have any questions he can ask them for me. He's pretty great! I would love it if we had our ftf on the same day. It would make it a lot less nervewracking to be with someone you know.
