Hello All! I have my second interview with United this week. I'm so glad I came across this forum! I feel more prepared now that I have an idea of what to expect...and I'm especially glad I found out they will hire you on the spot if you get the job. Can anyone tell me what the group interview is all about? And are the questions asked in the one-on-one similar to the questions asked in the interview with Spherion? Do they expect you to know anything specific about the company? I'm so excited for my interview! Thanks for any info you can pass my way. Best of luck to everyone going through the interview process, and congrats to all the new hires! |

hey mandy... from the airport you can take a cab which will take you about 40 minutes or the cheaper way is to take the train for i think 1.75 you can take the train from the airport, it's the Blue Line that goes to the city.. if you're not pressed for time i suggest you take the train, it's about 45 minutes and it will give you time to sit down and relax before your interview.. good luck! |

I received a phone call last week to call Spherion to arrange an interview by phone. I guess this is the first step. I was overseas and just got back so I will call first thing in the morning. I guess the phone interview is to see if I'm worth flying to ORD for an interview. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. |

Mandy in Rock Hill, South Carolina said: hey i was wondering how you got from the airport to the spherion building? was it difficult? how much did it cost? anything would be helpful :) Hi Mandy! It's super easy! I thought it was going to be tricky to get to the Spherion building, but it wasn't at all. Take the Blue Line train to Spherion....it's so much cheaper than taking a taxi which costs around $45 each way. When you get off your plane, just follow signs that say "trains to city". You buy your ticket right there and you'll be on your way. You'll get off at Monroe Street and from there you can either walk or catch a cab to the Sperion building which is 6 blocks away (it'll only cost about $6 to take a cab from the train). If it is really cold outside I suggest taking the taxi. When you're ready to head back to ORD, you can catch a cab again and have them take you to the Blue Line train (which will cost another $6). If you have any questions about directions just ask someone; I did, and people were very helpful. Good luck! |

Hi Everyone, Just had my phone interview and will be flying to Chicago next week. There is only one flight a day out of Palm Springs so I will need to stay 2 nights in Chicago. Does anyone know which hotels are close to the Spherion office? I don't really want to stay out at ORD for 2 nights so I'd rather be in the city. Thanks in advance |

Cool , I stayed at Hilton Chicago which is on Michigan Avenue and is downtown and also 5 minutes from spherion by cab. There are several places as well around there to eat like benigans . Might be a little pricey but hey service is the best I have ever gotten from any other Hilton I stayed at . |

I filled out my Application online 8 days ago. It said someone will would call you in two to three weeks to set up a interview. I did a mock Application online today and it gave me days this week to select for a phone call for a one on one interview. Can anyone give any input to why I would get two diffrent messages. Thanks. |

Can anyone tell me what the group interview is all about? And are the questions asked in the one-on-one similar to the questions asked in the interview with Spherion? Do they expect you to know anything specific about the company? I'm so excited for my interview! Since I didn't get the job screw the confidentiality agreement. They have you wait for a really long time and they watch you , so be on your toes. there will be a plant that works for the company sitting in with your group that you are supposed to think is a fellow person interviewing. The plant will be whining and complaining about the process the whole time, so be on your toes and be friendly and polite. They will bring you into a romo and talk about domiciles, after which you will do an easy activity as a group. Then there will be more waiting before your one on one. At the one on one I think she asked me 6 or 7 questions that you need to answer with the STAR response (Situation or Task, Action you took, and Result). The questions I got asked were both scenario and behavioral based: "Tell me about a time you had to cut corners to meet a deadline" "Tell me about a time you broke a rule to please a customer" "What woudl you do if a passenger of a minority race was sitting on a plane, and the person next to him says loudly enough for those surrounding him said 'I can't sit next to one of THOSE people'" "Tell me about a miscommunication you had with your boss" "What would you do if an obviously intoxicated passenger orders another cocktail" Just make sure you make eye contact, think of the customer always, and avoid talking negatively about your current employer (I accidentally did that...oops_ |

Hmmm - I went throught the process and really doubt there was an employee in the group. If there was, they were pretty well disguised. |

Hey All! I could really use your imput! I had my second interview at WHQ this afternoon. Everything went really well (especially in the one-on-one interview), but at the end of the one-on-one, my interviewer told me they were going to look over my forms and information and get in touch with me by phone or email within the next 5-10 business days to let me know if they're offering me the job. From what I've read on this forum, United seems to hire people on the spot. Is the whole "we'll get back to you in 5-10..." speech a big lie, or is it possible that I could be hired in 5-10 days? Any imput would be much appreciated. Once again, good luck to everyone going through the interview process and the new hires! ps. thanks for all the info WakeyJakey. Hopefully things will work out for you at another airline! |

I interviewed and was told that I was been sent to United's HQ Feb 27th for a group/ 1 on 1 interview!!! The interview @ Spherion was super simply. The height thing is a breeze and just be honest and answer ?'s using common sense. Do u or anybody else have any tips for the interview at United HQ's? thanks! |

I am so excited but hate that it seems like if you don't get the offer to go to the HQ you're out of the running...pressure! But I am really happy for you! I think that if you get as far as you have then it's smooth sailing...maybe more of a real interview feel to it? The phone call from interview was in my opinion easy breezy basically "are you still interested? how tall are you, would you like to fly up to chicago?" so is the first f2f asking all those "tell me about a time when" type questions? |

I applied online for United Flight Attendant position. I got a call today for a phone interview. Can anyone tell me what the process is? Is there a phone interview, then a face to face interview and then what? Or, am I completely incorrect? |

I applied 5 days ago. A man called me today, but unfortunatelly I wasn't able to take the call because I am currently at my full-time job. I called back at my lunch hour and didn't get anyone. Now, I'm just waiting for the call back. Do you speak a foreign language? Any experience in the airline industry? |
|
billschouten@comcast.net in Mechanicsville, Virginia 9 months ago |
No only one language. No experience in the airline industry but I have been in customer service for over 23 years. I have heard that I might have a chance anyways. I have read experiences on here that might help you prepare for your interview. Good luck! |
|
Brad in Stillwater, Oklahoma 9 months ago |
Bill, Yes I think you might still. I know of someone that doesn't have a foreign language either and was hired on. Good luck to you too and if you hear anything, let me know! (and visa versa) :) |

I never have, actually. Just traveling, etc. I interview with Delta last week. Didn't get offered on the spot but also haven't received a rejection e-mail like some that I know. I think the lifestyle of a flight attendant would be one that I would love since I am not partnered or anything. ya know? |
|

I have a application in with Delta too. I did the first interview over the phone and did the assessment and still nothing. I am married and sometimes it helps when you have a chance to have some space. |

Delta's was WAY nicer than United's, and it just seems like a much better company to be a junior flight attendant, you only fly 6 days a month on reserve, and 12 days a month you hold regular lines. But you wont be based in Atlanta, all new hires are based in NYC. The whole interview process was so much more confortable. They didnt' fly me in on a red eye for a morning interview. They had food at the interview cause it was long, and it was jsut much more interactive with the staff and the candidates, they totally sold the company to us. |

It's good to know new hires get based in NYC. My family actually lives 30 min outside of NYC so that would work for me too. Is Delta more honest during their hiring process...do they also tell you you'll hear from them when they have no intention of hiring you, or will they actually formally reject you? |

They split you up into 2 groups, one group gets an offer, and the other group they say they will contact you in 2 weeks. some people get hired even in the group that gets contacted later, and some get a rejection email |
