Hello, Waiting on my training class date. Was just wondering if these 3 companies all train the FA together. Thanks |

I remember from another F/A board a trainee in training for chatauqua mentioned a shuttle america class starting across the hall from them so I believe the 3 train seperately. Can you tell us what the interview process was like? |

You can go to crewstart.com and go to the forums and under the wannabe forum a few pages back a trainee has listed their journal of what their F/A training was like this should give you a heads up as to what to expect. |

Stewzoo, During the group interview they told us about the company and what to expect being an FA. We watched a video and then we took a break. While on break they called us in for a one on one interview. They asked a few personal questions. I was just open and honest with my answers. My suggestion is dress and act the part during the process. Be your fun self. Within a week or so they send out emails if your invited back to training. Good Luck! |

Ally, You have moved to greener pastures? What made you leave? (If you don't mind me asking) |

The company is a great way to get experience in the industry..but they tend to have a very self-destructive work environment. Management encourages people to "rat" on each other. Most of the FA's there are wonderful people, many I count as my dearest friends - however there is also a decent percentage of people that, for some reason (maybe because they are new to the workforce and don't understand the benefits of supporting your peers) think they will somehow get ahead by standing on others. My best advice is, don't tell anyone anything you don't want EVERYONE to know. And only trust as much as you are prepared to lose. You will find many great people that you will realize you can trust..but until you find those people...remember to watch your back and cover your ass :) After 9 months a flight attendant has covered the cost of their training and has not yet received their first pay raise. This is when they aim to get rid of you. I know it sounds like a conspiracy theory but as a person with friends in HQ I know this is a fact - and that it is discussed actively. It makes me sad to see so many great people working for a company that truly does not appreciate or respect what few gems they are lucky to have. But Lisa - I don't regret for a minute my time with Republic.. I have made friends I cannot replace and learned a great many things (self-taught lol!) |

Ally, Thanks for the info! I look forward to my training, meeting future good friends. I have already made a great friend on my flight down to Indy for the interview. He was also offered the position. However, I believe he is going with another company just because of this waiting game of a training date. We look forward to meeting up somewhere someday. :) I learned long ago...keep my "privates" at home. Past experience has "self-taught" me well! The one and only thing I really am looking for at this point...is the training packet they send prior to training. I believe this "down" time would be better spent studying the materials. If you know anyone that might have the Shuttle America packet...I would love to have it! Thanks again! I look forward to reading more of your posts. |

I dont know about all that!!! and Im not about to start trashing my company. There are pros and cons for every airline. But, I like where Im at I have a line and I've only been on reserve for 2 months. The people I've met thus far is great..the things that I've looked up about the company is great!!! but thanks for the heads up!!! |

No worries hun.. Just some friendly advice from someone who was with them for 2 years. Like I said most of the people are great...the management can be questionable.. More than likely you will see that for yourself soon enough - I can only hope you don't :) And I did say I didn't regret being with Republic - it was a great experience and I am sure you will love it too! |

Before this gets out of hand - I should clarify a few points. I am not "trashing" Republic...some of my dearest friends were from there (most of them have left for the same reasons I did) and the people you will work with will make or break the job for you. I just wanted to stress the importance of looking after your crew because at the end of a 14 hour day and goodness knows how many delays on the ramp in PHL or whatever - they are all you have! We don't get paid much to do this job...its the memories that make it worth doing. Its up to us to keep it fun to do! Please look after my old crews - you seem to have a nice positive attitude and I am sure you are much loved already! And Lisa - don't stress about the info packet for Shuttle...its not as tough as you think it is...you'll be fine! I promise :) |

If you get a email from Republic saying the classes are full for 2007 but they are interested in you for 2008 and will contact you soon as 2008 classes are available. What does that mean? Is that a nice way of saying no thanks or do they get back to you? |
|
Lisa, Wheaton 11 months ago |
Sharon, That means that they will get back to you with the next open class. Congrats! |

Thanks! Didn't know what to think.. How long till they get back to you? |

Sharon, I was in Indy in early November. I am going with Shuttle America. I am still waiting on the class date for 2008. I was told it will be in January sometime. The wait is the killer! :( Scott, I think I was called for an interview pretty quickly. Maybe within a week or so. Good Luck! |

I had my interview in Indy last week and got that same email saying they will contact me w/ 2008 training schedule...so excited! I was just wondering about the airline I might get. In the interview I said I wanted republic when they asked but now I am realizing that shuttle america would be easier for me as far as the base cities they have. Will I get a chance to ask for a change in choice or is that just plain rude and asking too much at this point in the process? I would hate to be difficult. Thanks for any helpful advice! |

You will Love Pinnacle! I use to fly for CHQ but decided to transfer to Pinnacle. True, Pinnacle does not provide transpiration to there interview but very few airlines do. Unlike Republic INC (Shuttle, Republic, CHQ) Pinnacle does not take charge for buddy passes, or charge 130+ for health insurance for a single person a month, and only takes 30 out of each check for uniforms (instead of 65-80). Well I hope you at least decided to apply, Pinnacle is truly a family company. |
