The announcement seems to be the hardest to commit to memory. But since I've got everything else "in the bag" I can spend a lot more time on the announcement by itself.

Stupid question: why is there only 50 codes to memorize when Awac serves 70 different cities?

The announcement seems to be the hardest to learn only because of how it's worded. 12 more days! We have plenty of time for it...

i was thinking the same thing... and some of the codes are for cities that awac doesnt serve, like brussels..

ya you dont want to bring more then what they say because then you will just have clothes everywhere and then you have to take it all home and you might be going straight to you domicile from training so you dont want to have to have all this stuff with you..

When you got to the airport (when first going to training) did you check your bag or take it with you as a carry-on? I'm trying to avaoid them running through all of my stuff once I pack them in space saver bags. Also, are we taking our stuff with us on our IOE's?

they want you to do carry on there not supposed to let you check your bags. with your ioe's all your stuff stays in your hotel cuz you will be gone for up to 4 days. also dont go out and buy luggage because you have to us certain luggage that you order the first week and you order the 20" over the phone with shawn if you haven't done so already also the all weather coat you will order over the phone with her.. hope that answers your question any others??

I do have another question...When did you recieve your official flight itinerary for training? Did you recieve a phone call regarding if you passed the BG check?

I hope studying is going well for everybody. I know the announcement is a little bit rough, but it's doable. i'm sure we'll all be fine.

i think the paper we got in the training pack is our official itinerary. i work for us airways so if you would like me to look up your flight to make sure u are booked on it, just let me know your last name and flight number, or your confirmation number.. naomi.. i dont know how i am going to fit everything in one carry on either. i didnt say we wouldnt check our bags anywhere, and it does not say that in our flight reservations either.. i am not going to take the chance, but i dont know how anyone would know that we cant check bags at the ticket counter.. the phl at least, the ticket counter is run by regular us airways employees, so they wouldnt know any special requirements such as not being able to check a bag unless it was in the reservations, which it does not.

your flights to orf should have been like the first page of the packet they sent you.. and dont bring more luggage then you want to carry around im tell you when you check they know that you work for awac and there not supposed to let you check bags.. trust me you dont need that much clothes you dont leave your hotel room very often unless you are going to eat or to class you study alot and that is all you do.. I brought a 22" and a tote and remember dont go but new luggage because you will be ordering ebags luggage on the first couple of days. I'm up in training now and im going into my last exam on monday so if ya'll have any questions feel free to ask!!!

They tell you to only bring a carry on for IOE purposes, however every other person at training has brought more that what was required in the packet. Personally I wish I would have brought more. Good Luck Guys!!

do we order our luggage when we first get down there??? do we get it before IOE???? i have luggage that could be carried on, but its definately not acceptable colors. Naomi - study is going ok.. i have been really busy with the customer service class for the us airways just i am quitting this week though. i know every city code 100% but i have been reading the announcement a few times a day and i know all of the history info and stuff like that. If i had to do it today i would prob do bad at the announcement, but i am going to start reading more and more this week and i am gonna be studying it all out by the end of the week/weekend. i am pretty certain i will have it down by monday.

Studying is going okay! I'm good on the city codes, the announcements are just about covered (i just have to get down the sections on SMOKING and DEMONSTRATION), as far as the history, i'm going to tackle that monday (doesn't look to bad). I should be all set by wednesday. As fas as packing: one checked bag,one carry on (22" roller bag), and a personal item. That should work! Yeah. They said not to buy any luggage so I think you should be fine by the IOE. If you need help with anything let me know! Meinanutshell hows it goin'?

I'm just about where you are, Naomi. I only have the Smoking and the Demo left in the announcement. City codes are at 85% and the history isnt so bad. I'm doing well, I'd say. I've given up on the idea of checking my bag. I'll consider it a challenge and bring one carry on and one tote bag. I'm going to try to carry my suits in a garment bag.. Have any of you guys heard from HR or Inflight services?

Hey Ashley, how have the exams been? Are they extremely intense? About how long is each class a day?

Naomi from everything I've read here and in the training package, I'd just go with the carry on. It'll be tight fitting everything in one carry on but I'm sure we will all be wearing the same outfit or two over and over for training. I'm taking two days off of my bartending job to study. Then two final bartending shifts just to say a proper good bye to New Orleans! I am arriving in the afternoon Sunday. If anyone wants to meet for dinner just ring my room (Tyson Jackson). I am probably thinking around 6:30 or 7 pm if anyone is interested. Can't wait to meet everyone and get started! My tray table is up!

Naomi I am not going to give to much info about the details on the internet but once you get here this weekend I will be more that happy to answer some of the burning questions you may have. As for the Luggage question...I brought one carry on suitcase and I am leaving with my one carry on suitcase a three piece luggage set and a suit bag. So I would pack conservative.

After we check in is there a meeting later on that day? Or do we all meet each other (besides our own room mates) in class?

hey everyone,
i called today to ask about the baggage situation... shawn from inflight services said to bring a suitcase measuring less than 22 inches in length (sized so you can check it) and a duffel bag. she did not say anything about not being able to check a bag for the trip, however she did say that we will be coming back with a full uniform set and 3 piece luggage set.
