EMBASSY SUITES INFO:
(reposted)
Hi everyone-

My name is Travis and I will be meeting all of you very soon. This'll be awesome. Are you still looking for a room during training.

I've been a flight attendant before and I can't tell you how helpful it is to have classmates to study with, practice and hang out. I just got off the phone with the Group Sales Manager at the Embassy Suites hotel near our training and they are willing to cut a deal with us on rooms for the entire stay.. It would have 2 beds and be double occupancy. If you already have a roomie, great, but if not they will start filling the rooms as people call. The sofas in the living room have pull-out beds so we could save even more.

For those of you driving they offer FREE parking and if you're not they will provide shuttle service to our classes at Virgin America (first come, first served). It's only 0.4 miles away so you could walk if you wanted.

They are holding 20+ rooms for us. Normally the normal rate is $179, but I got them down to $70. *If you want 4 in a room it is an extra 20$ (10$ per person).

I know it is a little more than the Red Roof, but we'll get that back in services they provide (free hot breakfast, work out facility, pool, business center, etc.). And evening manager's reception (free drinks and finger foods).
If you're creative you'll be able to save a lot of money on food and eating out.

It's the Embassy Suites - SFO located at:150 Anza Blvd, Burlingame, CA 94010.

Plus, if we book as a group it gets cheaper.

***PLEASE REPLY/POST IF YOU WANT TO STAY HERE SO WE CAN COMPILE A LIST AND GET THE GROUP RATE!!***

I received my email last night right before I left SFO on my redeye. Their pace has really picked up. My friend's Mike and Dede received theirs as well. A little stressed, since I will start training on May 27th and my daughter's wedding is on the 25th. I won't even have time to go back home before heading to SFO. Will have to leave straight from LA or San Deigo. No time to recoup, but I will manage! :) I feel like I am in a dream.

Congrats SF good for you !!! This gives me great hope for use candidates over say 40 lol I go to my interview on the 8th I hope I get hired then they will have a bunch of 40 year old Virgins LOL can you email me at garyalexanderdesign001@yahoo.com I would luv to chat with you.

Hi, Shannon from COS. I now live in FAT, but I own a home in COS just east of powers off of Omaha.
I am 47 years young and I start the VA training on Monday. I know it seems as if all the people are young, but I don't know how many more mature people are applying. I don't believe they look at your age just your ability.

I agree with Sandi. I am 51, live in Georgia and Colorado and they knew at my interview that I have 6 grandsons! I still got hired! My other new friends that got hired are from Orlando and NYC, and one is young and one is 40. So I think it is a certain person type they are looking to hire, nothing to do with demographics or age. I don't think that not being selected is a negative reflection on someone, it is just a matter of not matching their particular criteria, or just luck of the day and reapplying later it would be a different day and story.

Hi everyone!

I applied to Virgin yesterday and recieved an email from Megan inviting me to an interview session next week. I am so excited! I don't have any flight attendant experience so I don't know how realistic my chances are, but I am just thrilled to get to interview. I'm also middle aged (that is if I live to be 100), so I guess if I am lucky enough to get hired I will not feel too out of place. Glad to hear there are other 'seasoned' trainees:)

Anyway, glad I found this forum, it's been fun and informative reading.

Good luck to everyone!

Sherry in San Diego, California said: YAY SF!! congrats to you and your friends :) i am glad we can finally meet each other on may 27th at the virgin village!

**to those who are getting their notifications to continue on/ going to an interview and want to think about this:

jwomack and i are trying to get a bunch of people to stay at the embassy suites so we can get the group rate which is ridiculously good. i will repost the info from earlier in the forum about the embassy's deal for you all to see.

I am interested in staying at the Embassy Suites with you and I believe my other two new friends are as well. Mike is traveling today back to Orlando and then has a 4-day trip I think, but I am sure he will join us here as soon as he can and speak for himself. Maybe we can get VA to include this information in an email to those that are invited to that training to try to get as many as we can.

I said hired in my previous post, but I more correctly, I mean moving to the next step of drug test and background, and if all clear then we will be going to the May 27th. Don't want to post inaccurate information!

Gary, I sent you an email.

Also, about not wearing suits. That is not a problem if that is what you are more comfortable in them. My friend D looked like a million bucks in a dark blue or black skirt suit with white blouse and scarf. She looked like she stepped off a European plane as one of the crew. She is moving to next step as well. I on the other hand I wore a pair of black dress slacks, red blouse, black stockings and black pumps with simple jewelry. I too am moving to next step. So I would think business casual and up works. Hope this info helps!!!

don't worry about not having flight attendant experience. i would say that most of us who have been hired don't have any airline experience...it's definitely not a requirement! plus it makes you easier to train because you don't have to 'get rid' ofyour previous airline's way of doing things and re-learn the virgin way. good luck with your interview!

Thanks J. We definately have to get an Embassy Suites thing going on. Gotta save as much money as possible. I know Safeway always has great deals on food, so we can all go grocery shopping there. Thanks Alex, i'm glad I went as well, plus I got to have a great day in the city as a sudo-tour guide for SF and D. I will possibly commute once I am off reserve, but definately not during. That'd be impossible! It took me almost 10 hours to get home today, so that definately would not work. Anywho. All the peeps in the 27th class....we have to get started now on the whole hotel thing. Or if anyone who lives in the Bay Area wants to share their mansion, that'd be good too! ;-)

Thanks for your support with the fuel letters. I received a reply from Diane Feinstein (Senator) and Dick Ackerman (CA Congressman). A FA that was with ATA posted the letter on their unions web-site to get others to write in.
This fuel crisis is hurting everyone, not just the airline industry.

Sad about Jet Blue, I was ready to start a new career...now I hope I'm Virgin enough. Interview is on the 6th. JetNYPDblue will also be interviewing that day.

To those interviewing and starting training - congrats and have an awsome time. I already know the airport codes where VA flies! That's a plus right there.

That's right, my Virgin peeps!!! I'm going on May 6 to the Virgin America interview! YAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! I was scheduled to be in the April 30 jetBlue training class with Mission Blue and we got the cancellation call last week. I can't wait to fly into SFO on VX from JFK....I'll have LOTS of time to see how the inflight team works and hopefully I will get to chat with them for a little bit during the flight!!! Look out world, here comes another 40-year-old Virgin. (A tribute to Alex from Tennessee - what a great moniker. You get 2 snaps and a circle for that one!).

SF, I am so happy for you. After the last-minute training cancellation at United, and the upcoming wedding, you have been on a rollercoaster ride for the past couple of months. You had better fasten your 5-point harnass, woman, because the excitement has just begun!!

Hey, does this mean I need to purchase a new Seniority Tiara with RUBIES on it????? (winking) heh heh.

Thanks, Sass-a-FRASS! I would wish you good luck at your training but you won't need it. I can tell from your posts on this forum that they chose the right woman for the job. Do you have all of your housing arrangements made? If you don't mind, could you give the newbies the rundown on the housing situation at SFO? I am aware that VX doesn't pay for your housing, but I am specifically interested in the cost per day at local hotels. Is the $70/night at Embassy the best deal out there?

I think the Embassy Suites is an awesome deal. If you don't mind sharing or sleeping on a hide-a-bed you can put up to 3 people in the room. You get breakfast and evening reception. They have a great opportunity to exercise inside and out. I don't think you will find that QUALITY anywhere else. If I find out about anything different I will post it.

You're right, SF. I'm totally cool with random seniority - but someone still gets to be the MOST SENIOR and they should have a TIARA (yes, males too.....it's fun and it sparkles)!!!!! I wasn't going to be the most senior at jetBlue either but I had the big sapphire tiara packed and ready to share. LOL!! With three sons and a husband at home, I hear myself repeating the mantra, "We Share Around Here, We Share Around Here, We Share Around Here" on a regular basis. LOL!!

Just got home from the interview. It was as fun as everyone was promising! There were a lot of really awesome people there so who knows who they will choose. My fingers are crossed but I stumbled over one of my answers (poo.) I really hope I will be able to join the Virgin team.
