But I do know that I'm not up to the drama. And after what I've seen from some of these other forum-crashers, I'm over it. Not that any airline is safe from that kind of behavior, but at least the trips will be shorter with Shuttle America, and if somebody that I work with is a stinker, I don't have to be around her (or him) very long.

I do want to say something about a particular forum crasher--CLASSICBELLA, remember how awful she was? Well, she's made an about-face; apologized to me with genuineness, and I think she might have also apologized to NYCgirl? Not for sure...
But I'm always open to giving people a second chance, and I think the experience she had with us has turned her around. I think you'll notice, if you read her posts, she's become very sweet and accomodating to everyone. So, for whatever that's worth!... :-)

ANGIE, thanks for the update! Wow, now I have mixed feelings. If they're concentrating on people with hospitality and airline experience...well, that leaves me out...at least, for a while. LOL

Noooo, what am I saying? I've got to shove those negative feelings out of my head. LOL...positive thoughts, positive thoughts, positive thoughts! ;-)

Natasha,
Don't worry!!! Like I said, there were definitely a few
exceptions. The people that I spoke to that
made it to the 2nd round and didn't have airline or hospitality
experience were chosen for a reason. They had that little something
that you cannot gain with experience. I think you have as good chances
as anyone else!!!!

Natasha,
Did they ask you on your 2-1 session
if you were interested in the Lead Fa position?
What did you say?

No, they didn't ask me that...LOL..I guess 'cause they knew I didn't even have "Follow" FA position experience? LOL

NYCgirl, Yes!!! I wanted to hug them at the end :)
They make you feel so important!!!
On my 2-1 interview we had a chance to
laugh, discuss my career goals, suggest any
changes to the airline industry...lots of ideas!
I felt like I was already part of the team with
ideas and feeling creative! Amazing TEAM.
Natasha- Thank you for all your nice thoughts :)
We were a group of about 25. Only the ones with
airline and hospitality experience made it to 2nd round
I'd say about 15. There were a few exceptions though,
and I saw 2 or 3 persons with no previous airline experience that
made it too.
They said they were giving priority right now to
airline experienced candidates then to the others because
they needed to staff that first flt right away.
They mention they were also recruiting for the Lead FA position
so they needed experience.
I think they were pretty open about it and honest!! :)

Hi Angie, congratulations on your successful interview! If you don't mind me asking, was there a "stand-up & tell about yourself" moment... or were you able to tell who had what work experience by just chatting individually with them? I just wondered because I need to prepare my stump speech if I'm going to need one on Friday. :)

On our interview, there was no stand-up situation. All was done personally behind closed doors.

Joy,
Hi. No, no "stand up and tell" I was just chatting
with everyone in the small lobby area. It's just a
15min 1-1 then you get invited to a 2-1. Good Luck on Friday:)
You'll love 'em!!

this morning I cancelled my FTF with OS and inquired into future dates. I received an email stating that they would keep my application on file but that this week was the last of their planned interviews. I am sure that they will open up dates again in future but seems that they are selecting from what they have conducted through Feb 15th.

I sent them an email on Monday and received the same response. *sighs* That's okay, I have an interview with Delta on Tuesday.

Hi Angie... I see crab wonton's are in the house. Yum!

Thanks for the link. Where did you find this?

I had know idea what the pay is...
but it appears about the same as Eos..
The first year the FA's make around 35G.

Eos was a nice experience...longgggg day.
I learned that it wasn't for me.
Nor, did they want me. LOL
The service is unreal. Their FA's work the entire flight. I think I would be happier with something a little less over the top... they have a good product.. The Fa's earn their money.
Its no joke with them.

HI MALTI,
Yeah, Crab Wonton's are so good! :)
They told us at the interview yesterday
they were going to post it at their website
under FA requirements... They just posted it.
About EOS... I know! I feel the same way.
I applied with them but haven't heard anything
but I think I'm going to stick with OS.
More like an airline I want to be part of.
How was the recruiting staff at Eos?

How was the recruiting staff at Eos?

I found George to be a very nice genuine guy. He did the presentation. He did a great job as far as I thought.
The others...mainly the woman were stiff and not friendly.. not mean... but not all smiles and interested in talking to the people there. They sat in the back and wrote on paper. I tried to make eye contact with one... as to smile at her...
she looked right at me and didn't crack her expression. The two other gentlemen in the room looking crabby. Not one of them said hello to the group... Only George talked to the group and only George appeared to have a personality and interacted with the group.
I was turned off by the woman. All of them. George was cool.

Eos has an outstanding product.
I was impressed with their service.
However, I would rather fly on them and enjoy the top of the line service..
rather that work the service.
It is very,very, very detailed...
I didn't see it being all that fun.
Much detail to remember, and cooking skills are a must.

Eos would be a job.

I'm looking to get back into flying
as a hobby..something I enjoy doing.
OS, I would very much enjoy...
Maybe because OS is were my heart is.

I agree, but I'm weird, I like work. And I went to culinary school, so cooking and wine pairing is a piece of cake for me. The pay was wonderful and I would have no problem moving to New York. But yes, George was a delight and the rest of the crew were stand-offish. I interviewed in December. Ugh.

This contribution is just for a little comic relief,-it is something I received recently from an acquaintance. The subject is something we are all concerned about at some point- 'Retirement Planning':

Retirement Planning

If you had purchased $1000.00 of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00.

With Enron, you would have had
$16.50 left of the original $1000.00.

With WorldCom, you would have had less than $5.00 left.

If you had purchased $1000 of Delta Air Lines stock you would have $49.00 left.

But, if you had purchased $1,000.00 worth of beer/wine one year ago, drank all the beer/wine, then turned in the cans/bottles for the aluminium recycling REFUND, you would have had $214.00.

Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to Drink heavily and recycle.

Let people you care about know... and tell them to Start Now!!!

It was ClassicBella. She responded to a supportive comment that I gave to a couple of people by calling it "cheesy", and then insulted me because I was over 50. That was over on the Delta-Been There Done That forum (a forum that I started, no less). It's much friendlier over here and on the Republic/Chautauqua forum.

How are you this morning, AWAITING? Still looking forward to NY?

Hey Fab!

OMG went to the AA interview...delayed flights for over 10 hours{snow storm in Chicago~my connecting city), finally get to Dallas at 12:30am rather than 1:45pm only to have AA loose my luggage! slept in my dress, no nighty, lucky for me the hotel had a toothbrush. AA Promised that my luggage would be delivered to the hotel by 6am,just in time to get ready for my interview. Well, that did not happen...so...no interview suit...no makeup...no hair accessories LOL Had to canx my interview and fly home!
Still no luggage...but...met some fun people in ORD and bought some "long horn" chocolates in DFW just in time for Valentine's Day... So not a wasted trip after all! hahaha
Never loose you sense of humor...lesson of the day!

I hope that your training is going great!

Lesson Learned Natasha! You are so right, I have been traveling for many years, domestic and international and never had any luggage lost! LOL and now the first time lost...just in time for an interview, go figure? The recruitment team thought that I should have gone anyway but I take personal pride in my appearance and was not about to show up at an interview looking like I slept in my dress w/o makeup and no beautiful french twist! Competition is way to stiff for the homeless girl look! hahaha

Have a sweet Valentine's Day Natasha!

Good Morning Everybody! Ok, I know this has been hashed over already, but it seems like the general concensus as to what "paperwork" to take to the interview is just... passport? I am going to leave this afternoon and I just wanted to make sure that I bring everything they may ask for.

Also, is there a PF Chang's in the vicinity of the Newark Hilton?? My DH is coming with me (since it IS Valentines Day) so I thought maybe I would take him to get some of those crab wontons everybody keeps raving about. :-)

NATASHA, DAVID and whoever else wanted to know,

I checked with a JB flight attendant and you would as an OS employee be able to fly JB for $25 plus tax.
So if you are in a JB city (Natasha I know you are not sure if they go to PHX or not though for David) this gives you some commuting options.

The service is unbelievable. Top of the line everything. It is truly top notch.
Yes, the FA will have to prepare the meals. They arrive cold, and the FA has to set the entire presentation up.
Its very detailed. The FA will be working during the entire flight. There is no "oh they'll all just sleep"
Not on this plane. The FA has 8 to 12 guests that they'll tend to.
Very, very detailed and not one area of 'high end' was over looked.
I personally was impressed..but couldn't see myself... at this stage in my life...
entering in this field of work this position offers. It's a flight attendant/butler style.
I'm interested in being a flight attendant..with a high level of service... without the other part.
I think OS will have a high end service..
a service that I feel I can do.... without losing the person I am.
For the all those hire with Eos...
they will have an excellent position to add to their resume. The position is quite impressive and will only further ones career in my opinion.
I'm not in need of such advancement.
I'm semi retired as it is.... so Eos wouldn't have done much for me.

Count me in. How about an assortment- we could call it, 'beer and ale across the world.' It would start with one of my all time favorites from Down Under- Queensland's own - Castlemaine XXXX. (Lived there for quite a spell and received a solid Aussie education in how to appreciate the fine art of (as they call it there) 'piss-swilling.'

Anyway- great idea Malti- like your thinking.

I am serous. I figure... training for all that get on with OS probably won't be till March, most likely April.
So... why not have some fun before?
Booking last minute cruises.. you get a really discounted price... I've been on 3 and loved two of them. One, well... that was pure hell...:)

Natasha... to be on a cruise with you...
I know that would be a lot of fun!
We'll sun on the topless deck... then
hit the casino.. have the chumps buy us some martini's, have dinner... look at all the hot European stewards...
notice: Looking only....:) no touch.
We both have men at home.

(joking on the topless deck part..
I'm shy.) lol
