I can't decide whether or not to put out any other applications.
I hate that I feel this way, but I think there's only one airline where I will truly be happy. So I'm going to hold out for that. And I have a new development with that...I'll tell you on the phone =)

Hi all. This is a great site. Wish I knew about it before. I went to the interview and stayed for the 2 to 1 interview. I did like them but I wasn't that sure about the travel perks. It didn't seem that great. The job itself is ideal for me as I'm in NYC but just don't know that it compares to the other airlines when it comes to being able to trade trips, maximise time off and non rev.

Will you all definately take it if you get the offer or are you rethinking?

Hi Guys as an old hand I would love to interject here.
Part 121 is the FAA safety Regs for Commercial Airlines operating scheduled flights.

OS will probably operate under CAP360 which is the British CAA regs.

You will all need to bear in mind that this is not a U.S. carrier just based in the U.S.
Training will be no cakewalk. Be prepared to burn the midnight oil.
My 757 training was conducted by Caladonia a Sub for BA.
Fire science training by BA fire department.
Good luck to all of you.

Hi Rob,
I was with RJ in Amman for 14 years.
Flew mostly the big birds. Loved living in the Middle East at that time.
Can you remember when Dubai was just sand.
I will e-mail you at your Yahoo address then we can catch up by phone.

To all you other ladies and gents out there.
If you have any technical questions regarding what to expect at your safety training do not hesitate.
I wrote a CAP 360 manual for an Airline, was a Cabin Services Manager and have gone through the mill.
Always happy to help.

Where can we get the documentation that says that open skies is a CAP360 carrier and not an FAR Part 121 carrier?

Val,
you can go to the FAA site and check if OS is registered as a U.S. Part 121 carrier.
Given that the training will be in the U.K. my best guess is CAP360.

Do'nt worry too much about it. The rules are just stricter than U.S.
Hope this helps

Hi everyone interested in applying/interviewing with OS.
Copy and paste link.
www.nevillehobson.com/2008/01/10/ba-blogs-openskies/

You will also note that it states that this is a British Airways subsidiary.

There was a previous question regarding why they would hire just 45 F/As.
The British Civial Aviation Authorities, CAA (equiv FAA)stipulates how many crews you must have per aircraft type. So if they are manning with 5 F/As that would make it 9 crews per aircraft.
Given the A/C configuration and type of service I do believe that it will not be possible to operate with 5 F/As.
I spoke with the recruiters and next recruitment session will be in the fall.
I have opted for this one.

There are lots of Airlines out there hiring.
Just google: Flight Attendant jobs.
Yahoohotjobs.com
Monster.com
Look at Allegiantair.com
Southwest has a very good reputation with their crews. Not hiring at the moment but if you have a family member working with them, they could write you a referral letter and this will get you an interview.

Have a great day. Hang in there and do not loose hope. There is an Airline out there for each one of us.
Let us strive to keep this forum positive and informative as it is meant to be.

Hi all.... so far no news yet from OS or Eos. LOL.... but its not the 20th yet..
so I guess that's why.
But, I have news. In the last two days I have decided that I am going to pass on both. Eos for obvious reasons...
OS, because I'm planning for yorkie puppies in the spring... and OS will be a better fit for me in the Fall.
Plus, I highly doubt I've been picked for that first OS plane. hehehe
Seriously... they didn't call last week.. so that's a pretty good indication I am on the long list. lol
I'm ok with it... it allows me time to do the things that I want right now.
I want Yorkie puppies!!! :)

I hope someone on here will get good news from OS! What an honor it will be for those selected to fly on the first flight of the new airline!!

Hi, MALTI! :-)
Okay, here's MY news too...I've decided to pass on a flight attendant career. I'm most likely going to take a job working in the legal industry, which is what I'm very qualified to do. I, too, have not heard anything from OS, which also leads me to believe that I wouldn't have been considered for the first plane either. But that's okay, 'cause I'm really vying for an adoption in the spring, at this point! LOL...
Other than that, how are you? Are you back home, in the sunshine, with your man? :-)
Have you been in touch with NYCgirl? She's AWOL...lol

LOL.... I see you've been doing some thinking also. Why leave sunny Fla.. when you have it so good there?
Until OS is up and running and all the bugs are worked out... its probably better to stay on the sidelines and wait it out.
I haven't heard from Nycgirl. She must be on a case... OR... having a glass of wine with Rob in Kew Gardens afterall!
See.. Love was in the air! :)

Funny... no email from Eos. I would have thought for sure I'd have the 'no thanks' email by now. Well, even if it's an offer... I'm not going to accept.
I'm just not Eos material. I can't cook...so I think that would be a problem. :)

What? Rob and NYCgirl?.....nah!
They're great, but not together! LOL..
Yeah, the weather here is ab/fab! Had a beautiful day today at an art fair in Coconut Grove.
Yes, I think OS is going to have the kinks all worked out by the seasoned FAs manning their first flights--and after that, who knows?
EOS seems to work slow. Slow to respond to applications, slow to follow up on interviews....But nobody is as slow as DL, at least as far as my email of "one way or the other." I still have not received anything; what could that mean, I wonder? ;-)

nah... I know.. I was kidding about Rob and Nycgirl. It would be in the 10 pm news if they had met up... as nypd would've been called to the scene.
I think she's having some fun and not telling us about it!! I will have to give her a call and find out what is the scoop.:)

I'm still interested in OS... just not right now. Not that I think I have a choice... remember.. they didn't call me back in last week... so I think I am out.
LOL...

I hope someone on here has good news to report!!!!!

I've wanted a puppy for years now!
In college I never got one b/c the apartments I lived in didn't allow pets.
Now, assuming I do start flying (and commuting) I'm not going to be able to have one!

My mom has a yorkie and a toy poodle and I wish I could clone one!

I guess for the next few years it will still just be me and my 14-year-old cat. She doesn't mind being alone for 3 days at a time as long as she has food, water and her litterbox.
