tony, i have never implied that i thought anyone is naive or idiotic for choosing os. i think it is a great fit for those who choose it. every one i know who is employed with os are gifted and talented people. who i respect a great deal of. i think we all need to be realistic here on the future of the airline business. not just os. it is really scary right now for everyone. i am just saying you need to know what your getting into. you need to be ready to except what ever changes happen and go with it. if that seems negative to you i apologize. i have read your comments on this site and thought them very helpful and knowledgeble. tony i do not have sour grapes. please do not misunderstand me. those who know me,know i am not like that. i wish everyone the best with os and the future. |

You never know what's going to happen in any industry. Just ask anyone who was working for Bennigan's two days ago or Enron six years ago. The fact is, you have to live your life and not based on fear because the scariest stuff is what you don't see coming, and that goes well beyond the airline industry. Do what you love, as long as it's not hurting anyone, and if something happens, you move on and do something else. That's called rolling with the punches, and fear is not an option. |

Hey travelguru and everyone! did anyone get a positive reply from OS and got hired? did they say 12-14 days? I am still waiting and I don't understand if I am going to get hired or not even if in my application I can see that I passed all the three phases and they are just waiting for medical documentation. is it possible that they will contact me later? |

I hope this is some kind of joke? That is disrespectful to say to anyone working for an airline regardless of what carrier. I did not get hired with OS but I am proud to know that everytime I see one of the aircraft there are fellow Americans working these flights. The people I met at the interview were amazingly kind and so were the candidates. I have no hard feelings for not being choosen but I have to say congrats to those who did get hired. I work for a carrier currently and I am proud to share the skies with anyone who works for another airline. We all do the same thing regardless of who we work for! For anyone to make a negative and prejudicial comment like this blows my mind. How about you go learn how to respect people and what ever questions you can not comprehend, keep your rudeness to yourself. For those of you at OS, I am sorry that people have the feelings they do against you when they do not know you personally. I wish all of you the best! |

Hey guys, I have a few friends who were at Maxjet with me now working for OS and they are not very happy. They feel like they are in the military. The company does not recognize individuality or accept any type of suggestions. My friend was incharge of service at Maxjet and made some great suggestions to improve service and was just blown off. Another friend of mine told me that they get paid once a month and she can hardly cover the rent. You cant trade trips and have no say on what days you fly. I know when we sign on to be a FA we are willing to sacrifice, but come on slavery is over!!!! They can take the job and get some other idiots in there not me, I am too FABBBB for that. I rather stay at DL. |
|
gg in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania 3 months ago |
Who does not recognize individuality? Maxjet or OS? You have to understand that OS is completely new and with any new airline, things take a while to come together. The various departments has to get to know each other so that relations between can be formed thus breeding better communication and bond for a better company. Firstly, OS does not get paid once per month...it is twice per month with your per diem paid at the end of month....why all the whining for?
REMEMBER, OS TOLD YOU GUYS WHAT THE DEAL WAS AT THE SELECTION DAY!!!! WHY TAKE THE JOB THEN COMPLAIN????? PLEASE, QUIT IF YOU DONT LIKE IT, AND GIVE OTHERS WHO WANT TO EXPERIENCE IT A CHANCE! GOSH |

first of all lachimbarica u need to stop playing politics, obviously u were not hired by os that's why ure grapes r sour., I am an ex employee of maxjet and I was a part of maxjet service team and I am very happy with openskies and so r the other maxjet ex employees and if some r not happy they will leave, plz stop saying bad things about our company and people like that about others and mentioning others name because that's not right, if u r at dl and happy with dl then mind ure own business and leave openskies and their employees alone why r u in our forums ..., get a life plz |
|
gg in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania 3 months ago |
well said!!! It is obvious that when people make comments like that...they are upset about something. It only makes them look guilty and stupid!!! Take ur negative crap somehere else.....concentrate on your JOB with DL and save your energies for those passengers! Be gone with yourself...Yes it is true that OS rejected you...why then would you say that about us? I am pretty sure you are not happy with your reserve job at DL that is why you hoped to get the job with OS. dont hide now...defend yourself you whimp! |

GG-calm down. Adding to the inflamatory remarks is not helping. |

Jokarscott in Cocoa, Florida 3 months ago |
I too worked for MaxJet,and believe me when I say that the management there treated some people as if they were less than worthy. I mean pilots as well as flight attendants in that statement as well. Stuff can happen in any organization, and is generally fostered by inexperienced, nonprofessional individuals who are in way over their heads and are insecure with anything perceived as criticism of their policies, their methods, their modes of operation. I say give OS a chance to evolve and solidify operations before slamming the company. It seems to me that an airline subsidized by British Airways has better than a fighting chance of flourishing, and will likely be more open to suggestions as the product is refined. Delta is a good company, no doubt, but it's a whole different animal so comparisons are truly not relevant. I in fact, was rejected by DL and hold no grudges; I just wasn't what they were looking for. Different strokes for different folks and all that :) |
|
Jokarscott in Cocoa, Florida 3 months ago |
I really meant to clarify that ANY organization can have its share of problematic issues. I believe Open Skies is probably going to be run in a very organized fashion with seasoned managers- unlike some I have run into in my past lives. Maxjet had some very good theories and ideas, but did not seem to have the means to implement them. Now is that clear as mud? |

Hey 1st. of all I did not apply to openskies. 2nd. of all I was just stating what my previous co-workers shared with me. Xemployee of Maxjet in Richmond Hills is a hypocrite! He is one who is constantly complaining how he cant stand the politics of OS and the low quality of the service, so why are you fronting now! If you are not happy there then be it, stop being so fake and try to pass it off on me! You wish DL would have hired you and Reserve is not bad, I am traveling the world and making much more than you folks. So eat my Chimba! |

I have training Aug 22 and they are proposing that we have 3 weeks in the UK and 2 weeks service training in the US. Would you mind if I e mail you directly BoardWatcherWH? I'd like to know what goes on with your class as we wil be 2 weeks behind you. Also, I hear that we may need to pay for the cost of our on hotel after Indoc before the flight to LHR. Which hotel is your Induc on 8 Aug at? Things are very vague for our 22 Aug Induc so would be great to make contact with you Thanks |

i have training on the 25th...Induct on the 22nd....who and when did you get this info regarding 2 wks in NYC? On my offer ltr they did not indicate any such thing! The class going on the 11th, did not indicate to me that they will do that either? I am just curious as i would like to plan accordingly. are you speculating based on what u had seen on the forum>?

I called OS in Wokingham (UK) yesterday and that is what she said. It's not definite but I suggest e mailing or calling to try and get a concrete answer as I am trying to do. Please share any updates that come directly from OS. I needed to get this from the horses mouth so to speak and still wasn't able to get a 100% definite answer. |

hey gg. to answer your question on salary at delta. this is how you make more money at less block pay than os. i work for a regional carrier for dl. and it works similar in pay scale. you are guaranteed a minimum flight hours per month. ours is 75,dl is more. you are guaranteed that pay times your blk. pay. bi weekly every month. if you do not go below 65 hrs. you are not audited. if you go over your guanrantee you are paid more. at dl. you also can get time and a half. it really adds up. that is why it is so impt. to have a union and a contract. they have to pay you your guarantee. plus pick ups and swaps are great. if you need extra money. you guys do not have that option yet. please vote in a union. it will protect you. hope this helps. |
|
gg in Freeland, Pennsylvania 3 months ago |
Hi, Understood...but DL does not have union so I see some contradiction in your postings! I thought that the majority of the fa at DL do not want a union> Plus on the other hand, you do not work for DL as stated abive, directly! A regional carrier is not considered DL, it is a subsidiary of that company...I hate when people say that they work for such and such, but in fact a sub of that organization , which to me is totally different. Stop telling people that you work mainline DL, when you do not. I personally think you should not be on a forum representing something that you are not directly a part of. You need to be posting on a REGIONAL forum for those who want to work for a regional carrier!

When we interview on the 21st, we were told the August class was filled except maybe one or two positions, but that they were still hiring for an undetermined date to start maybe later this year for the plane anticipated in March. So I was asked to be placed in the hold pool for that class. I see they are hiring still which I can only assume will be for this later date not yet decided. I haven't seen anyone else write that they were placed into that pool. |

gg, i never implied that i work for dl.mainline. yes we are a subsidary of dl. just like os is a SUBSIDARY OF BA.!!!!you have a strong tendency to over react to people's comments on this forum. and you tend to be insulting and very unprofessional. i simply answered your question. and did not deserve your cutting remarks. anyone has a right to be on this forum. as long as you comply by the rules of said forum. i suggest you take an honest appraisel of yourself. you seem to be in the catagory of over reactors. i hope you will treat your passenger with more professional grace then you have treated me. |
