Florainvegas in Henderson, Nevada said: Hey Peter!!!Tell me you are coming back to ASA!!!. I got an invitation from Omni but they don't pay for your air fare to interview. FLORA - Hey, congrats on that Omni invitation. Are you going? I went to one of their open houses, and they were very generous in their hiring criteria (meaning, you're very likely to get an offer). You're a sharp lady - you would definitely get in. Where was the open house that you were invited to? |

FLORAINVEGAS - Ditto what Cheri said. I went to one too. You should go, especially if you don't mind flying lots of international and being away from home. Omni is a great experience for the right person. I couldn't do it because of the amount of time being away from home, but my husband flew Omni on his way to the middle east when he was activated, and they get to see a lot of service men and women because of their charter mandate. (PS - We're going to have to fight over Peter - we want him too!!!). :) |

Quck Question? I went to an ASA open house and started with 31 and only cut 6 or 7. Everybody had fingerprints, and agility test. Then we had our F2F. what does this mean? I read the thread, but it seems that most of you did the F2F and then was told to fingerprint, drug test etc.... |

IMHO it means that once you clear your background check and Atlanta PD also Ok's you then ASA will set a class date for you. I was in training but resigned as I had an offer from an airline in Fla. and it just works out better for me. You wait is prop. 3-4 weeks to get adate, when I left two weeks ago ASA had 3 classes a month going and the rumor was that it would continue through Jule. Hope that helps, the people, instructors and In-flight staff I have met were all tops and there to help you not hurt you. Good luck. Peter |

Hi Shelly, They were unable to get good fingerprints on me as well. When did you interview? |

Florainvegas in Henderson, Nevada said: Hi Shelly, They were unable to get good fingerprints on me as well. When did you interview? I interviewed Feb 28. I've never had issues with fingerprints before but then again this is the first time that I've had to use the computer scans. I am used to the old ink and paper.I asked her about that and she said that would be a last resort through a 3rd party and would take longer. I am using the dead sea salt scrub and moisturizer gloves at night. I am constantly cleaning at home and I never use gloves and I think those chemicals may have made my fingers a bit rough. |

Patty in Meridian, Mississippi said: Hey is anyone attending an open house in ATL on the 18th of March? The process will be something like this. All applicants will be ushered into a meeting room on the third floor. When the ASA reps. come in the will give a brief overview of the company and then each candidste will be asked to introduce themselves to the group. This is the time you will need to sell yourself to ASA. Tell them why you want this position and say something other than "I love to fly"....if you have any professional FD,RN,EMT,PD,Military let them know that. If your career was in other areas of customer service make sure they know it. Be polite, smile but not robotic. It is OK to use some humor in your presentation but nothing over the top. After this portion the ASA reps. leave the room and in about 30 minutes will opost a list of names of those who stay and those who go. The second phase is a reading of a public announcement and at the end of that another cut. That cut may have FTF interview. Those that are asked to stay after that may get to have a medical, phisical, drug screening and fingerprinting done with an offer for a training date (that's how mine went). Sometimes they will make notifications a few weeks later pending the outcome of your background check. Have your passport with you if you have one and if not start getting one. Hope this helps, good luck and I a sure you will do well. Peter |

Peter in Saint Augustine, Florida said: The process will be something like this. Great info! So once you are selected, you are given a training date and then what? How long are you in training (at the hotel) ... just weekdays or for the entire process? I live about 20 minutes from the airport, so I can't imagine being SO close and not being able to stop by home to see my dogs! LOL! Is the training out of your pocket as far as time/wages? Whats the average salary/benefits for a FA with ASA? Whats the normal schedule like -- how many flights per week/month? on Reserve? (sorry I have so many questions -- this is all new to me!) Thanks!! |

I attended the open interview on 3/4 and I received a call yesterday from ASA, but I wasn't home so they left a message. I called first thing this morning and didn't get an answer so I left them a message...but still no word. I've tried calling again but still no answer...I'm so nervous! |

As far as wage/time, you need to get that clear with the ASA folks. I am in training right now. You are in the hotel if you are over 30 miles (I believe). We are not paid wages, but $20 per diem per day. I started training on 3/4, but I dont wing until the 25th and then I do IOE flights for the next few days. I think I have the hotel booked for a total of 30 days. |

Hi Queenie - I'm back from my self-scheduled observation flight. It was so informative. I learned all about the galley, serving, making the coffee, arming the doors - just in one leg from DCA to ATL. We only had a handful of pax, so I got lots of attention from the two f/a's. BYRDIE - Don't let age stop you. I'm 52 and just got hired by Shuttle America. |

Does anyone know if there are lots of layovers with ASA or do they do mostly turns returning to ATL at the end of the duty day? Are there any current ASA FAs on this blog who can give a run down of a typical day in the life of a ASA FA? Like how many legas a day do you normally do etc. Especially for new hires on reserve.... |

Could anyone tell me about the open house interviews? For example. Where they were held? Where does every one stay? And also how long it lasts? I received a call for the March 18 open house and she said she would send me a voucher, but it was up to me to make my own travel arrangements???? I am not sure what the voucher is for, I have not recieved anything in the mail yet.

But he and I know each other from another open house, and we are both living proof that these regionals are really good about making offers to us more "mature" folk who take care of ourselves and our appearance. :) I think that you should definitely apply. Good luck! |
