Anyone kno what is up with the commuting clause email we got today. Is is a get out of free jail vard if you cant get a flight |
ThatsQueenMary2U in Atlanta, Georgia 3 months ago |
Its good 2x. You have to list 3 airports you can commute from. If you cant make it to duty in, you have to show that you listed for 2 flights prior and that there were seats avail when you booked. You have to list the 3 airports, so you cant use it for just a weekend away and cant get back... But you have to be off probation for it to work. |
Bill in Mechanicsville, Virginia 3 months ago |
Sorry for the typos outside in the yard. |
Bill in Mechanicsville, Virginia 3 months ago |
So you fill out the form once you are off probation. RIC here is hard to get out of but Air Tran always saves my hide. Sounds like it could help. |
ThatsQueenMary2U in Atlanta, Georgia 3 months ago |
I submitted the form. It defaulted the date to Sept 19th for me. I put in PNS, VPS and MOB for my commuting stations. |
Bill in Mechanicsville, Virginia 3 months ago |
It did the same for me. So if you can't get out of your first airport do u need to try to get out of another one? Thanks 4 the help. |
ThatsQueenMary2U in Atlanta, Georgia 3 months ago |
I dont think so. I think it just means that if you live in PNS like me, you cant use it coming from GRR or SYR. I could be wrong, but thats what I have been told. |

ThatsQueenMary2U in Atlanta, Georgia 3 months ago |
Thanks Bill! Thats my 2nd time in a little over a month, I was pretty excited to see it. Now if I only knew what pax sent the letter in! |
Bill in Stockbridge, Georgia 3 months ago |
One day you will make Chief Queen. Thats good. I am sitting in ready reserve today. Did you get a line in Sept? |
ThatsQueenMary2U in Atlanta, Georgia 3 months ago |
Nope, back on reserve. Quite a few above me went back on reserve, too. There will be a ton of us on reserve next month, so Im pretty sure we wont be flying alot.... ~Mary |
Bill in Stockbridge, Georgia 3 months ago |
I agree I havent been called in a while. Also did you see the email about them looking for volunteers for early retirement or leave of absence |
ThatsQueenMary2U in Atlanta, Georgia 3 months ago |
Yeah that was for non contract employees, if I read it correctly. |
Bill in Stockbridge, Georgia 3 months ago |
I think FA's as well. |
Bill in Stockbridge, Georgia 3 months ago |
You are right Queen I just read it again. This one does not include FA's and pilots. |
Joe Delta in Atlanta, Georgia 2 months ago |
what work groups would this apply to at ASA? |
nicole in Duluth, Georgia 2 months ago |
The early retirement applies to contract employees as well as noncontract. The voluntary leave applies to just noncontract employees |
Bill in Atlanta, Georgia 2 months ago |
Joe, I just sent it to your email maybe you can figure it out. |
Joe Delta in Atlanta, Georgia 2 months ago |
I am not sure what other work groups? Maybe maintence, mngt. Not sure if they have any ramp employees? Delta takes care of ATL ramp. Not sure of any other stations. At the bottom of the memo, sounds like they are satified with the results with the F/A's programs. |
Joe Delta in Atlanta, Georgia 2 months ago |
Also anyone familiar with the scheduling of reserve's? Just wondering why alot of F/A's on reserves are in the 40-60 block hours while some just barly broke 20 block hours seem alittle lop-sided. I thought it was to be evenly distrubted? anyone know how it works?? |
Bill in Atlanta, Georgia 2 months ago |
They have ramp employees at out stations. Regarding the reserves they have two shifts one that starts 0001 to 1500, and one that starts 1200 to 0100 the next day. They are supposed to work on a bucket system based on block hours. So the person with 25 block hours gets called first, if it is a tie than seniority takes over. I have been sitting the past two weeks because they flew me allot at the beginning of the month. Now that dosent always seem to work that way but that is how I was told by several it is supposed to work including Crew Scheduling. |
Joe Delta in Atlanta, Georgia 2 months ago |
Yea, something seems to be lacking. Steph only has 26 block hrs. At least you are close to 50. |
Bill in Atlanta, Georgia 2 months ago |
She should probably nicely call crew scheduling. I hear from people in my crash pad that allot of people in Stephs case have complained and than they get flying time. It should be even right across the board I agree. |
Joe Delta in Atlanta, Georgia 2 months ago |
Thanks Bill... yea she would like just a little more flight time.. |
Bill in Atlanta, Georgia 2 months ago |
Like I said it should be fair right across the board. |
Bill in Atlanta, Georgia 2 months ago |
Joe she is on top of the list with 1 day avail so if there is a assignment she should get called in. I would still politely call Crew Scheduling. |
ThatsQueenMary2U in Atlanta, Georgia 2 months ago |
Just wait til next month. I seriously doubt that any of us will see significant flight time. There are a gazillion of us on reserve. Id guess about 200 on reserve... I could be wrong, but there are like 150-165 below me in seniority and about 50 above me went on reserve. |
Bill in Atlanta, Georgia 2 months ago |
You are right. Here in my crash pad there are 4 ASA FA's only one has been flying only because he said something. My case is a little different. I have my own sales business so I actually don't mind sitting at my crash pad as I am working another job. |

I just dont want to see anyone do the training(hell) and then not like the company. You know I heard the same thing when I was on the AE and United Forums when I said I wanted to fly for ASA. I heard you only make 15.65 1 hour call outs high turnover if you don't believe me check out the posts. They said that ASA was the worst airline to work for. You know what I love ASA. My point is let Trish make whatever decision she feels is good for her. I almost didn't go to my ASA interview because of all the negative post's. But I did I walked in the door and fell in love. "how sweet" Tris went to the interview I know her she is very smart and for whatever reason felt the same as the day I walked into the door at ASA. Trish I wish you the best. I still hope someday you work at ASA. Bill |

Bill..You know..I felt the same way with ASA when I was offered training with them. I felt at home there..but things happened and classes got cancelled so I had to move on. I have been on several interviews with different regionals and I have to admit that the moment I walked into my interview session with Mesa, I felt like I belonged there. Thank you for supporting me in my decisions Bill! I really need the support right now! |

TRISH - Congratulations on your new training offer. I'm so happy for you. And just remember what one of our ASA predecessors did. There's no reason that you can't change jobs (companies) later if something better presents itself. I'm enjoying having this time off, and am all psyched up to take it easy through the holidays and maybe start back after the first of the year. Just hope that I don't forget everything that I learned earlier in the year. I hope that you'll stay in touch w/ us. :) |

I am a ASA FA just graduated. Honestly the training was not that difficult now. They made it sound worst than it was. Was it challenging yes but I was told by several classmates who were major FA's that it wasn't that bad. Now they will be changing the program so that could change. I feel they let those in who they wanted in. However we are not hiring we are still offering months without pay and days to drop. We had 825 lines with 1065 FA's. But at the interviews and the first few days they made it sound like it was going to be really bad. It wasn't. The toughest was the comp drills. To be honest if you can't do those right you shouldn't be a FA. As allot of our planes have 1 FA. |

Hi Carol..I went to the Mesa Interview on August 18th in Nashville. They do the face to face interview there as well. The recruiters will tell you that you will receive an email saying yea or nea within 1-6 weeks. I received my email the same week on that Friday asking me to call them for my final telephone interview. Once I called them and they asked me some questions, I was offered the training date. They now have to locations of training. One is CVG and the other is PHX. I will be going to training in 10 days. I fly out on Sept. 22nd and classes start on the 24th. Their training is 3 weeks of ground school and 3 days of IOE. You do not get a resting period after you have completed you IOEs. You are flown directly to your base. I will find out where my base will be the first week of training. Remember, if you do go to the interview sessions, dress to impress. Your image is very very important and be prepared to stand in front of a group of people and tell about yourself. You may have already done this if you have went to previous interviews but just a heads up if you have not. To tell you the truth Carol, the moment I walked into the interview session, I felt right at home. I knew this is where I wanted to be. You have to find the right airline for you. Yes, there are many people who speak badly of Mesa but this goes for every regional carrier. Not just Mesa. You have to follow your heart and decide what is the best decision for you. Good Luck! I hope this helps! Carol in Pensacola, Florida said: Hi Trish! Can you give me some info. on the MESA interview? Where was your's held? How long is training, etc.?
