DeltaHawk in New Jersey said: RJ: :) Good Lord! You of all people deserve to be hired. What is Delta thinking?? Please, please, please apply to a couple of other places. Even if you turn them down. I know that you've probably posted this before, but if you don't mind my asking..was it you who worked for Delta in the past in another position? What are you doing now? |

I have always worked in customer service since I started with DL in the mid-90's. |

I've seen several examples of customer service employees who had a hard time getting hired as a f/a. I'm puzzled about that one. When I was with USAir, quite a few customer service people were turned down, and the ones who WERE chosen were quite puzzling. :) You just hang in there. Your time is coming (it took me 19 years). :) |

Hey RJ!! Got your email, thanks!! But,was unable to open the photos, lol! =( Anyways, to answer your question, I'm eligible to re-apply again in 3 months (May 2nd). Do you think DL would still be hiring then? |

My roomate knows a gate agent at AT who happened to be working the gate of a flight that I was on.
I also remember reading a post of a customer service person at one carrier saying that she interviewed for a FA position at three carriers and was hired by all except her current one. So much for the phrase "getting your foot in the door"! |

SEASHELLS...Hello! I can give you the Low Down on commuting. I flew for USAIrways for 17 years, based in Syracuse, NY, Charlotte, NC, San Diego, LAX, Philly and then back to Charlotte. Commuting is NOT fun. If there is not a seat on the plane, YOU don't go, and if you call in "not able to commute" they can fire you, especially if you are on reserve. When you are new, plan on living at your new base for the first year or two. You will be able to fly home on your days OFF. Reserve days off are usually 11 a month but you will have to leave EARLY the day before you go back on call to be sure you get back to your base. Sorry to disappoint but want to give you all the facts. It can get very expensive with commuter pads & hotels. You always have to give yourself a back up flight in case of weather or mechanical cancellations...seats are awarded by seniority also, so if you're new, you will be on the bottom of the list...even behind F/A Sue's mom& dad going home from vacation because they carry Sue's seniority...Yes, they can bump you even if you are going to work, doesn't matter - Sorry...but best of luck! |

I will have my first initial flight IOE either the 13th after graduation or the 14th. I have to work for 5 hours to get my FAA certification. |

Thanks for the heads up, give me alot to consider. How exctly does the seniority work, anyone who has worked there longer is always going to be seniority then, right?

Do you plan on commuting/ crashpad option? Since Shuttle America has an ATL base, I won't have to commute in the big picture. And if I don't get ATL right away, I'll probably be put in IND, where I have a friend who lives 15 minutes from the airport, so she will be my crash pad for as long as I need. All she wants is help with the utilities, so I won't even have to pay rent. Funny you should mention Virginia - my friend whom I'm going to crash with in IND still owns her home in Virginia (Falls Church), so her husband is still there trying to sell the house, and she's in IND in law school. I would LOVE Virginia - I lived there as a kid - such a great place! |

I just saw where AirTran is hosting open houses in ATL, Newport News, and BWI. This is a good opportunity for all of you folks looking for an ATL-based f/a position. |

The house market up there is just crappy, hopefully they can sell soon. |

hey guys! yea, im back...
one session..0730. the 1230 was nixed for some reason. like i said, about 100 ppl were there. sheesh! i thought i rocked the "tell me about yourself" it was simple what they wanted
in my group was m's thru z's. (last name) the other room had a's thru l's. thats how they seperated us.
i should have gone with my gut and backed out before the finacial and emotional expense. talk about cattle herding! wow, i cant find the words... well, not all is positive in life right? i just didnt think that we would be treated like we were. i mean, double losers by not even getting the chance to speak directly to a FA. should have given us that opp. |
