I am hoping to prove you wrong.

I was specifically told 6 months, so I would have 4 left.LOL

Im not sure if I will try again. This was my 5th try for
DLFA in a 17 yr period, I have had enough. I used to fly for Valujet before I worked for DL. I was itching to get back in it this time, and still feel like I am worthy, but after I hear my fate, then I will make a decision to try another direction again....

Good Lord! You of all people deserve to be hired. What is Delta thinking?? Please, please, please apply to a couple of other places. Even if you turn them down.

I know that you've probably posted this before, but if you don't mind my asking..was it you who worked for Delta in the past in another position? What are you doing now?

I have always worked in customer service since I started with DL in the mid-90's.

I've seen several examples of customer service employees who had a hard time getting hired as a f/a. I'm puzzled about that one. When I was with USAir, quite a few customer service people were turned down, and the ones who WERE chosen were quite puzzling. :)

You just hang in there. Your time is coming (it took me 19 years). :)

Hey RJ!! Got your email, thanks!! But,was unable to open the photos, lol! =( Anyways, to answer your question, I'm eligible to re-apply again in 3 months (May 2nd). Do you think DL would still be hiring then?

I have heard that it can be very challenging for customer service people to become FA at their current airline.

My roomate knows a gate agent at AT who happened to be working the gate of a flight that I was on.
I described her to him saying how pretty and professional she was and made the comment "I could see her being a FA". He then said, "Oh I know her. She has tried to fly but her supervisor won't give her a recommendation because he doesn't want to lose her". (At AirTran, appearantly their current supervisor has to give them a recommendation in order for them to change positions within the company).

I also remember reading a post of a customer service person at one carrier saying that she interviewed for a FA position at three carriers and was hired by all except her current one.

So much for the phrase "getting your foot in the door"!

I don't see why not - with all of this growth, plus a possible new acquisition, I would think that they'd still be hiring. Did you see Matt's post?

SEASHELLS...Hello! I can give you the Low Down on commuting. I flew for USAIrways for 17 years, based in Syracuse, NY, Charlotte, NC, San Diego, LAX, Philly and then back to Charlotte. Commuting is NOT fun. If there is not a seat on the plane, YOU don't go, and if you call in "not able to commute" they can fire you, especially if you are on reserve. When you are new, plan on living at your new base for the first year or two. You will be able to fly home on your days OFF. Reserve days off are usually 11 a month but you will have to leave EARLY the day before you go back on call to be sure you get back to your base. Sorry to disappoint but want to give you all the facts. It can get very expensive with commuter pads & hotels. You always have to give yourself a back up flight in case of weather or mechanical cancellations...seats are awarded by seniority also, so if you're new, you will be on the bottom of the list...even behind F/A Sue's mom& dad going home from vacation because they carry Sue's seniority...Yes, they can bump you even if you are going to work, doesn't matter - Sorry...but best of luck!

Thanks for the heads up, give me alot to consider. How exctly does the seniority work, anyone who has worked there longer is always going to be seniority then, right?

Since Shuttle America has an ATL base, I won't have to commute in the big picture. And if I don't get ATL right away, I'll probably be put in IND, where I have a friend who lives 15 minutes from the airport, so she will be my crash pad for as long as I need. All she wants is help with the utilities, so I won't even have to pay rent. Funny you should mention Virginia - my friend whom I'm going to crash with in IND still owns her home in Virginia (Falls Church), so her husband is still there trying to sell the house, and she's in IND in law school. I would LOVE Virginia - I lived there as a kid - such a great place!

You are lucky! Either situation works out well. Small world I was born in Falls Church! The house market up there is just crappy, hopefully they can sell soon.

hey guys!

yea, im back...
i didnt feel like talking much. i never felt deflated!

one session..0730. the 1230 was nixed for some reason. like i said, about 100 ppl were there. sheesh! i thought i rocked the "tell me about yourself" it was simple what they wanted
1 state your name
2 where are you from
3 why do you want to be a delta FA
4 what languages do you speak

in my group was m's thru z's. (last name) the other room had a's thru l's. thats how they seperated us.
we all met back in the big room and about 35 were called into a smaller room. the rest of us were sent packing! i asked about a shuttle back to the airport and was told, "i'm sorry, thats just for delta employees"
it couldnt get any worse.
not even a f2f!!!! NADA!

i should have gone with my gut and backed out before the finacial and emotional expense. talk about cattle herding! wow, i cant find the words...

well, not all is positive in life right? i just didnt think that we would be treated like we were. i mean, double losers by not even getting the chance to speak directly to a FA. should have given us that opp.

NYCGIRL I had the same exact thing happen to me so I can totally relate to you and I did feel like I wasted two days and over $100 for nothing so I agree with you there. Go apply with jetBlue they are hiring right now and we have two classes starting next month this is a great airline to work for and I am going to JFK we got our base assignments today and I am happy about that.

HI RJ: I met Nycgirl and Natasha!!!!!
OMG! You have to meet them!
Great fun... and they are both BEAUTIFUL!! GEORGOUS!!
We had a nice time at the interview for OS. Very respectful process and the recruiters are not fake... and truly are a classy group. They spoke honestly about what they needed to hire right now and treated us very well. The recruiters made it a point to ask questions that were easy to answer using previous professional background as well you were able to drawn from personal situations that could reflect the type of person you are. I truly enjoyed the interview... and would have liked more time to spend with the recruitment staff, they were that nice and sweet!!!
However, they were flying back to the UK at 5pm.... they'll return back to NJ on Sunday.

At this point my status is: I'm waiting to hear my status. LOL....waiting! :)
No one was given an offer today...
But, I think Nycgirl will hear good news.. She did very well during her interview!!!!
I haven't talk to Natasha yet...
I'm sure she did well also!!!!
We had a blast! It was a very well spent day.

I cannot stress enough....
Outstanding interview process and I think great things are to come with that company because of how they treated us today! I left feeling good about the experience.
If I don't get an offer....
I will be OK with it...and just reapply.

(Delta should learn from OS. "Treat your applicants with respect as they could be future customers)

its early but decided to check my email. I receved that NO THANK YOU email at 4am from delta.

wish i could have sent THEM a NO THANKS email after that "lack of interview" process! Thank goodness im able to put that experience to rest!
i must say tho...OS really lifted my spirits in terms of airline interviews and FA attitude. They truly are first class and happy they are the last company i will apply to... i would rather leave with positive in my heart rather than regret and discontent.
