Wow that really sounds scary.Do you think you could call your phone service providers and have them track down at least which state did the call come from?

Also, did you read the new thread with the warning about a phone call. Just becareful please.

GAIL, thank you for the kind words of advice. I appreciate your concern. And....also, you are sooo sweet. Wanna know the truth? I've got grown children, myself, so I'm flattered that you thought I was a young'un...LOL.
I am super careful with everything I do. Some would say "too careful." Thank you again, and I will continue to be careful. The only person I'm planning on meeting up with, in the near future, is PILOT, and I've known her for a long time, she's a cool lady! And....if you come down here, I'll meet YOU TOO! :-D

I work in Customer Service, and every bit of advice in here is valid and can be fulfilling yet very stressful at times, so many rules and pressure. I am taking a buyout later this fall for many reasons. It was one of the toughest decisions of my life.

Lots of opportunities in the area you are considering, I would be happy to answer any ques. you have.

Thanks, DELTAHAWK! There's a million questions I could ask but it would take up too much space in here, and I'm sure the folks on this forum aren't too much interested in reading through my stuff. Are you on Facebook?

I really do miss Florida. But I had a hard time finding a good job down there. I had my own business for so many years then the ecomomy went south. Even the contractors I stay in touch with are not getting any work. And it is really expensive living in Jupiter. But anyway I will be down to visit all my friends in Daytona and Jupiter. Thanks Natasha. When I do get down there i will get in touch. YOU still be safe I don't care how old you are, LOL you do sound like a young'in for real. Enjoy. Me I am 50 going on 30.

HEARTKIN - Good discussion, but it still doesn't tell us whether we're going to be pushing a beverage cart, does it? LOL.

I have to cringe at those door stories - my eye STILL hurts from my encounter with the door. :)

I probably haven't told you, but I'm still having to wait on my verdict from ASA because I had to get a special dispensation from my MD on a medication issue. Several of us had the same issue, so I know that I'm not the only one. They've sent out the rejection letters, they've called the "you're in!" people, and then there are those of us waiting for letters and re-fingerprinting (yes, my fingerprints were bad, too). Ho-hum.

Wow - you've been doing a lot of reading. No, I only read the door thread. Maybe I should snoop around over there more often. What other aircraft are you all going to be training on? I've decided to take a September training date (if/when they call me) so that I can finish out the summer being a bum. I know that ASA is doing away with their prop planes, and really wish that I could wait until they take it out of the training curriculum. It would be so nice to learn only 1 or 2 planes.

Well it was going to be the CRJ 200, then they added CRJ400 and now the CRJ900's arrriving at Pinnacle. They tool possession of 9 already and taking delivery of 9 more, but I don't know when. I know we are training on 2 planes, but I am not sure which two. I have to wait for wereflyn to call me. She started training this week. Rumor has it the CRJ200's are going away. Hard to tell with this merger hanging out there and daddy Delta.

Sorry - it took me a few minutes to read it. That guy had some attitude, didn't he??? I've never heard of a f/a having to introduce herself to the pilots - only the "A" f/a if she's on a jumpseat. But we'll never have to worry about that. We're only permitted a cabin seat anyway.

I am sorry I can't help you with the aisle and cart issue since we at jetBlue do not go down the aisle with the carts like most other airlines do. We take the order and bring it out on a tray.

I'm not sure what kind of questions I should ask. Does a part-time ACS get the same travel, health, etc. benefits as full-timers? What does the job entail? Do I move around the airport doing all kinds of odd jobs, also? Am I going to be handling baggage? Reservations? Gate tickets?...I know NOTHING about this job...tell me ALL!!! lol.... :-D

For RJ:
I miss you all too. RJ---I read back in the threads you left SA, and if I am reading correctly your now with ASA, good for you to get to your homebase, go for it.For your info I never heard back formally regarding my interview results.

For Natasha:
A part time ACS job DOES get the same unlimited flying benefits, health coverage, and vacation time (accrued and earned), holidays as full timers.
There is also a 10 year earning scale, after those years of service you top out.
The job entails checking in customers, boarding and working flights at the gates, handling baggage service inquiries, (all must be able to lift 70 lbs)
Most of the customers are directed to use the kiosk, or skycap, or check in at home virtually. you are responsible for adhering to collecting revenue for excess baggage, fare differences, all other fees, according to policies.
Depending upon the city you live , they usually dont hire FT but PT to start or even "ready reserve" status which means you may only get flight benefits, and must be available to work at all times. If you are serious about the job, go ino the interview with being able to work any hour, any shift, and any status and be able also to be ready to work with mid week days off and working holidays for a WHILE.

It is a very rewarding job, and when your shift is done your on your way home..
not on the runway awaiting takeoff for a an unspecified time. It can be stressful that you must adhere to policies, and mau take the brunt of a customers frustration, ( I have done this alot).

Training classes are required

Thanks I am on a nice three day trip no Orlando and no Ft Lauderdale it has been heaven except for the 0500 report times but we get done by noon. I like not having to deal with no carts except when I work number two on the 320 because you do alot of walking up and down the aisle and the rudest passengers tend to be in that section lol.

DELTAHAWK - I'm not with anyone right now. I have interviewed with ASA - that's all. I'm waiting on an "offer" this week, but am struggling with whether I really want to work for them.

You know, the fact that you never got your rejection letter may mean that you'll be getting a call after all, as DeltaBird did. I understand that they'll resume hiring late in the year, and word is that they're holding on to a few applications from "before".

We're sure glad that you're back on the forum with us.

Thanks RJ, for clearing up your status and welcoming me back.
I hope ASA calls you right away, I think it would be a good fit.

As for me, I actually stayed away from the computer for 3 months due to some low blows I felt were happening to me .
When I heard they rejected candidates, then called them back, making a mistake, I and others must have horribly messed up
at the interviews.( For those that never even got a response) It just didnt sit well with me personally.(lack of professionalism) I m thrilled for anyone that got the chance. For me, knowing that and other factors I felt the buyout was good timing for me and to take it. I have a few months left until I take the package. Alot think I should reapply and start over and lose seniority and pay and I dont want to do that, so Im also onto the job search and weighing options.

Life is interesting isnt it?

DELTAHAWK - A lot of us felt the way that you did. Though I, personally, did not talk to anyone who got a rejection and then a call-back, I was certainly one of the ones who heard nothing for 3 months, THEN got a rejection. Since that time, there have been some in mgt. who have looked into their "unique" hiring practices of the last 8 months, and have realized that they didn't use the best methodology. Sheila Perkins retired two weeks ago, and there's a rumor that there was a lot of heat on her after the f/a hiring fiasco. I've tried not to lose ALL of my respect for them, since they do, after all, still pay my mortgage, but I'll never see them the way I once did. And I did come to realize, as you said, that DL wasn't a good fit, if for no other reason than the way that they treated so many candidates.

RJ, who was Sheila Perkins? Was it the lady in charge who ran the recruiting session at DL headquarters? Could it be the same woman who told us all, and many other groups from what I've read, that "just because you didn't get an on the spot offer, it doesn't mean you're not considered. You will hear at the latest within three weeks,"...is that Sheila Perkins?

Yes that is the woman but in my case it was if we like your photo we might call you back for another interview and it is time to say goodbye and leave us then tried throwing out 100 people on the street with no transporation or changing plane tickets til people started revolting about having to sit at the airport 8+ hours. All the people I know that were with me that day got the no thanks a few days later so we knew she was bs'ing us with that line. I am glad she got flack for the poor way they treated a bunch of people that they left hanging with no call or e-mail cause that is just plain rude. Yes my friend used it but is waiting for the second interview.

She was the short, African American lady who was working the room during the "cocktail hour". She is (was) the head of F/A Recruiting.
