Colorado ROCKS! Yes colorado is wonderful, we moved here from memphis, tn and talk about a breath of fresh air, my kids can go out and play and I don't have to worry about them. Not to mention the humidity doesn't kill you out here. |

When I did mine, I did the online app and then called the 877# and did a second phone interview. It should have given you instructions to do so. I would try and do those items before tomorrow when the job app system changes over. |

Ready2fly in Birmingham, Alabama said: I spoke to a DAL HR Rep where she confirmed that May 13 was the last class. The F/A Recruiters were cleanning out there belongings and saying their farewell. I was in the F2F interview yesterday, April 30. I had applied online around the second week of April. I received a phone call last Friday, April 25 and was invited for an interview and was given a choice of Tuesday or Wednesday @ 7:30 am or 12:30 pm. We were told at that interview that it was the last day for F2F interviews and that the interview staff had their bags packed and were returning to Flight Attendant duties. However, that could all change when the early retirement package sign up is completed May 15 (if a lot of flight attendants retire) or when shipment of new 777 aircraft is received in the fall. The last training class is scheduled for May 13. However, if it fills up, an additional class might be added. From what I understood, they only have 1 open class at a time scheduled and it always starts on Tuesday. When it fills up, they add another class for the next Tuesday. Again, with the F2F interviews being discontinued for now, they might not need to add a May 20 class. After the 5 1/2 interview process, about 15-20 I would guess of the 30 attending were called out and given conditional job offers. They will all have to pass the background check, drug screen and language test if they speak a foriegn language. Yes, there were some non-language (only Englist) speakers among those given conditional offers. I was not among those given an offer and it was really dissapointing. I was already pumped up before the interview and seriously by the time we finished. We were told that after the conditional offers were completed yesterday that some might still be receiving a phone call. I am hoping to get a call. |

Penelope in Bronx, New York said: Hi, I am a little stress over the idea of the training for 6 weeks. How long do you think they will take to tell us when the training starts??? I just woke at least 2 weeks notice. They always give you 2 weeks notice...however with this "allegedly" being the last training class on the 13th they may give you less notice...or put you on the list to call when they are ready to start training again down the road. It doesn't hurt to call them though :) |

If there is one thing i've learned in all of this...........no one knows really what's going to happen. Current FA's hear things and report on them but until it comes from the top or someone in HR tells you, they really don't know. Peoplescout would be in the that category too. No one knows in this what will happen- it's a shakey business w/lots of unpredictibility. It's just not a stable field I am learning. Even after you are in it. Good luck everyone- you never know when they will call. |

wannafly in Atlanta, Georgia said: Hi Rodney, it seems that HR would be the most reliable source. what you mentioned makes sense. It also definitely makes sense that LOTS of FA's could take the buy out, in which case they'd want LOTS of cheaper paid NEW FA's to replace them. Also, the union election ends @ end of May- perhaps if they vote "no" some more people might take the buy out you know? Then they'd just call ppl back and train them later in the summer. so, like i said earlier, there is no way to know but there IS reason to keep your hopes up! (and maybe try to convince current Delta FA's to take the buy out! Lol you could go to the airport and try to convince them =) ) |

rodney in Atlanta, Georgia said: Delta FA where are you???? we need you please. Although it is true that things are slowing down right now with the hiring process...please realize that the only reason this is happening, is because Delta has offered FA's 2 leave packages: a retirement package and a voluntary leave package for FA's with 10+ years of seniority (highest paying ones!) Why in the world would Delta be hiring more newhire FA's when they are asking current FA's to retire and take leaves, you ask? Simple answer..Delta wants to get rid of the highest paying FA's and hire new FA's who are more eager, exicted and get paid ALOT less...great business strategy, don't you think? So...FA's can opt to take these leaves until May 15th, and once Delta gets a total number of leaving FA's, they will have a ballpark figure of how many newhire FA's will be needed then! Simple as that! No need to worry...the hiring will continue after this process. We definitely will be hiring more...it will depend on how many and when these FA's take the leave...this is right around the corner! |

Thanks for the heads up, it is much appreciated!! I am in the category of 'waiting for the F2F'. It's so aggravating, but understandable. Everything else in the process (at least for ME) happened so quickly, so when they said it could take 'several weeks' to schedule the F2F it was somewhat disconcerting. Oh well, such is life. I too am a former F/A - so I know the deal, but still!! hehe |

Hi, can you please explain Delta's policy on commuting for new hires? I live in ATL....would I be allowed to commute to New York (assuming NYC is my assigned base) for my reserve days and line flights, or will I have to make an all out move? Thanks. |

Yes you can commute. You can jumpseat on Delta and many other airlines. You need to make sure you are in your base well in advance and will want to get a crashpad for trips that start really early (and you need to come in the night before) or trips that finish late (after you last flight home has gone). The good news is that my friend who was in the very first class has just transferred to ATL (he's not language qualified or anything like that either - admittedly he has ALL of us underneath him - but just so you know it is possible. It just might be a while because there will need to be a fair few newhires under you first - or you might just get lucky! So no you won't have to move. It is a little more stressful and will take a bit of getting used to but if you are conservative and play it save and give yourself plenty of chances to get in base on time - you will be fine (I commuted for years at another airline) Just remember - most airlines give you three strikes and your out! So don't ever try to catch that last flight that will get you in on time always give yourself a ton of room for error (you never know when there will be a mechanical delay or a cancellation or a senior mama bumps you off your flight last minute!!) Totally do-able though, yes :) |

As for chosing between Delta and other airlines...it all depends on what you want out the job! All airlines have pluses and minuses... If you only want to be on reserve for a maximum of 6 days a month as a newhire, enjoy working flights around the world/international, and want to be able to change your flying schedule continuously...then Delta is the place for you! :) |
