nat in Columbia, South Carolina said: Can anyone offer advice for me on how to get started? I have never had any interviews or even applied. I want to be a F/A what should I be doing to prepare myself? What types of questions do they ask on the phone interview ? I have a substantial customer service background. Any info anyone can offer would be helpful good luck to all! Hello Net, To become a FA, you have to be outgoing, and customer service oriented. You must be and understand the position itself. You have to be flexible, dedicated and responsible. Its not as glamarios as it was before deregulation, and at times it can be very demanding and challenging. With all that said, if you enjoy serving people, and you are dedicated, responsible and can accept challenges, then this might be the career for you. As a FA, you primary concern is the safety and well being for each passenger that boards your plane. You must know how to work as a team and at time you may be called to be a leader. You will need to adapt to time changes as a FA with Delta, there will be times when you will be flying international. Questions that are asked on the phone interview are scenario questions. What they want to see if you are customer service oriented. The interview in Atlanta is fun as Delta online FA's are the ones who conduct the interview. They want to see if you can think "out side the box." You are given scenarios and you give them examples from your real life. This is not a job, its a career. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask. No question is stupid or ridiculous. You need to know the full scope of being a FA before you apply. I wish you continued success in your career endeavors. Eddie |

If you need any help, I was a former FA, and I can be of assistance to you. Remember, they will be watching every move you make. Be social and work as a team member. There will be days where you are going to be overwhelmed, but nothing that you cannot handle. Please stay in-tocuh Eddie |

I'm not sure if it will be the dorms or a hotel. We are supposed to get our travel emails tomorrow. Both have good points, so whatever I get... I'll be happy. Now, I just have to learn the Marta system so I can make Sunday morning runs to the grocery store. <grin> I'm going over the list of airport codes they sent. I have about 125 of the 200 down pat. They still haven't told me if I passed my language tests but I figure that they wouldn't start me training if I didn't pass them. Yes, I would like to keep in touch. Not sure how often because of the training schedule but I will make that effort. My best to you and see you up there soon! |

I was looking forward in helping you guys make it, and do study groups so that we can all achieve our goal.....GRADUATION DAY! I offer my sincere assistance if you need any help. Been through training for several airlines and its basically all the same, but delivered differently. To my class of May 13, I wish you all continued success and I know that you folks will succeed. You folks have a long distance friend in me...Eddie and I look forward in reapplying and going through training. Regards, Eddie |

I don't know if its from the date I originally applied or the date I was interview that I have to wait. Are you sure about this Latinguyperez? I am asking because I am in a similar position. I was supposed to be in the 13May class also but my grandfather was in hospice and just passed recently so I told them I wouldn't be able to make this class. They told me that I would be OK for 6 months and that I would be put on a list when/if their is another class. I am just not sure if they meant 6 months from that point, 6 months from when I first applied, or 6 months from when they first offered it to me. What did they tell you? |

I may be misunderstanding your question... They only have dorms at their headquarters in Atlanta because they train FAs there... Accommodation for those based in NY is entirely on the individual to find. They don't provide anything honey :) |

allyaustralia in New Jersey said: What do you mean "dorm set up in NY"? I may be misunderstanding your question... I read sonewhere (I can't remember where) that they had dorms for $200 a month for those based at JFK. It may have been misinformation. It would be real hard being based in NY on the pay the junior FAs get, would have to find a crash pad I guess. |

Airborinquen in Lancaster, Pennsylvania said: HELLO EVERYONE, Hey honey, welcome to the forum :) The word on the street is that the May 13th class will be the last training class for a little while. They are waiting for some of the senior FAs to take the early retirement package over the next month or so and apparently will start doing more training after that. However, this information is constantly changing (originally the May 6th class was to be the last..then they added the 13th on) - so don't lose hope there's a chance it might all happen sooner! |

You may be right - I haven't heard anything about it from my Delta friends though. $200 a month is pretty good for NY too..I am paying $250 a month at mine.. Yeah being an FA is not the best choice if you want good money lol! But if you want good times - you're in the right place ;) |

Hey guys. This may help a little bit. I just worked a flight with someone who works directly behind the scenes with the Hiring Department. They said for now the May 13th class is the last class for a while until they can gather how many senior F/A's will take the early out. We really need new F/A's and I hope that we hire more fresh faces SOON. Don't worry guys hiring will start back up soon. Peace and love and good luck!! |
