Anonymous in New York, New York said: Hey guys. This may help a little bit. I just worked a flight with someone who works directly behind the scenes with the Hiring Department. They said for now the May 13th class is the last class for a while until they can gather how many senior F/A's will take the early out. We really need new F/A's and I hope that we hire more fresh faces SOON. Don't worry guys hiring will start back up soon. Peace and love and good luck!! Thank You for the encouragement.

Hi LR- No problem! I just got back from a trip...hope you get this before you leave for training! There are 1 day trips, which can consist of a "turn", which means you fly one leg (leg=flight) and turn right around and do one leg back (eg. JFK-MIA-JFK) OR it can consist of multiple legs (eg. JFK-CVG-ATL-JFK.) These trips are perfect for FA's that want to be home everynight with their families! Layover trips range from 2 days up to 9 days. Most of our international trips are 3 day trips--where you fly for example, JFK to Kiev, layover for 24 hours and come back. We even have trips that last up to 9 days, for example, JFK to Dakar, Senegal (layover 48 hours) then fly to Capetown, South Africa (layover 48 hours), come back to Dakar (layover for 48 hours) and then finally back to JFK--for the true Safari/Africa lovers! So, you can chose to fly to wherever and whatever length of trips you want to fit your schedule! No, you are not locked into flying either domestic or international...you can do both! Yes, newhire FA's right out of training in New York are flying international trips...I just had one on my last trip! Best of luck in training! |

DeltaFA in New York, New York said: Hi LR- Hello Delta FA This is Eddie. I have a question that maybe you can help me on. I was schedule to start on May 13, however, due to my dad passing away (Thursday) I had to withdraw. I was told that this was the last class, but due to the circumstance, I was rehireable. Due to the confussion, I don't recall if I had to wait 6 month before reapplying again or if they will contact me should classes begin. I called PeopleScout and not Delta, and this worries me. What should I do? Eddie |

I enjoyed this career when I flew for AA, and I get so happy when I see individuals get on and experience what I enjoyed. I know there they may be additional classes. My concern is wheather I'll be placed on one of those classes. I did not get a clear answer from People Scout. I wish I had spoken to someone at Delta directly. Stay in touch and God Bless you. Hi Eddie, Oh no! I am so sorry to hear about your father. I hope you and your family are doing OK--please stay strong! As far as Delta goes, every situation is handled differently depending on the circumstances and the strength of your candidacy. So what you should do, is just call Delta back (not PeopleScout) and re-tell them your situation. Ask them to re-explain your options (now that you can hopefully focus better...they will understand!) Do not leave a message for them to call you back..just keep calling back yourself and make sure your speak to a live person! Take care of yourself and your family...Everything will work out! |

Hi DK(A)TL and rodeorider76, It's so nice to see your eagerness and excitement to join the Delta family! I really do love my job (lifestyle)at Delta and hope to see many more enjoy it as much as me! As you may have noticed, the hiring process has slowed down a bit, because we are waiting to see how many current FA's will be taking leaves/retiring, so that we can get a number of how many more newhire FA's we will need. We will definitely need more, soon! So...hang in there! It's worth the wait! You'll be in the sky in no time! Until then, stick around and keep your energy vitalized!...So many of us are here to help each other out! |

Deltafa- If you could give anyone some advice on this process what advice would it be? Then for those going to training what advice would you give? Then for those that have there wings what advice would you give them? I want to be the very best for what ever airline I get on with. I want to give them 100% of me. I know what they can offer me its what I can offer them, that counts. Thanks in advance, Netski |

You first will register, then you will be gathered in a room where you will be informed of the interview process. You will have a chance to stand and say something about yourself. Then you are sent to wait until you are called upon for your F2F, while that is happening, they are taking your reach, you have to sit on a jumpseat and then they take your picture. Once everyone has completed that process, you are sent back to the Delta Atrium and you will be spoken to about the life of a Flight Attendant, pay, benefits. This is the time to ask questions. Once that process is completed some candidates are give a cjo= Conditional Job Offer. If you do not get one at the moment, don't get discourage. Not until you receive the "No thank you," email will you be disqualified. My recommendations, be yourself, be honest, engage in conversations with other candidates, and have fun. I've been and worked as a FA for other airlines, and I've never been to an interview where you have so much fun. Honestly! Eddie |

Eddie- Thank You so much for the wonderful information. I am really excited and can't wait. When your in training is that when they tell you where your going to be based or offer you where you would like to be based? How much of the FARS do you have to know mostly? I know you have to know everything but is there something more than others. How is the safety? what is that like and can you where jeans for that part of training? Thanks Eddie for taking the time to explain not only to me but to others who read this forum. Netski |

Netski in Salt Lake City, Utah said: Eddie- Thank You so much for the wonderful information. I am really excited and can't wait. Netski, No need to thank me. This is the purpose of this forum. Remember, no question asked is a dumb one. We are aware that there may be lots of questions and you may feel awkward asking...not here, ask away. To answer your questions: I understand here at Delta that on your second week you are told what base you are heading to. I understand that they are sending new hires to NYC, however, I have read on this forum that some have been based in Atlanta. If you get a base that you don't want, you can always place a transfer request. As far as FARS, you need to know them, but most importantly, you need to be able to locate it on your Flight Service Manual. For example, you may have a ghost rider (FA Supervisor) onboard evaluating you. He/she may approach you and identify themselves to you and will ask you questions like: where are the halons on the aircraft you are flying, what is the normal reading on the POB (Portable Oxygen Bottle), they may ask you questions related to your FSM (Flight Service Manual0 to see if its updated and to see if you know how to locate the information being asked. As for safety drills, I understand that for evacs, you are allow jeans, and it depends on the drill taking place. Safety training consist of First Aid, CPR, how to use a POB, PBE (Portable Breathing Equipment) Halon, Fire Extinguishers, what kind of F.E. to use in the event of an electrical fire, etc.... Overrall, its a great experience. The trainers are there to help you and not flunck you. They don't fail you, you fail yourself. They are the best resources. I cannot wait till we start making more classes. WE really NEED some fresh blood in the mix. i am hoping that the majority of the senior F/A's will take the buy out. Some of the seniors haven't been nice to us new hires and it's kind of discouraging. The more of the new hires we have, the happier all of the crews will be. I had a pilot kept thanking us because we had a lot of fun as a crew. There were 4 new hires and 1 junior OBL...we all had a blast!!! |

I am out on line. The stories I hear from my friends about how they get left out of conversations and activities from the seniors. There was this one senior leader, she was mean to me and said "Shut up and sit down" I was embarrased because she said it in front of an Alaska crew. Also, she told me to fib to a first class passenger saying that we don't have the passenger's vegetarian meal. My leader wanted the mean because she's vegetarian. I said, "wait a minute, this passenger paid a lot of money and she was hungry" I served the passenger because I am pro customer 100%. I overheard her talking behind my back saying that New Hires don't know anything si I pulled her to the side 1 on 1 and told her "Hey, I respect you as a leader, now I think it's time you respect me as a Flight Attendant. We are all on the same team here. She KNEW she was wrong at that point" |

Tell me, what are you flying? I assume that you are based in JFK. Please don't let these kind of people ruin your career or make you think different. Not all seniors are like that. Charleen & Cheyenne, Delta has stopped interviewing for the time being. I was in the last F2F interview session in Atlanta and the last class is scheduled for May 13. They (Delta) is waiting to see how many FA's take the early out package that is being offered. These FA's have until May 15. Once Delta has a number, they will begin the process. Don't lose faith. As for the interview process, all I can say is that they make it fun. You will learn a lot about Delta and what its' like being a Delta FA. They will also speak to you about the benefits and where they are sending new hire FA's. If you have any other questions and or concern, please post it and someone will get back to you. Best of luck and please, do not lose faith. Eddie |

Dear Delta FA: I was on voluntary furlough from my airline (ATA) when they went under April 3, I applied as soon as I found out Delta was hiring, I've always loved Delta! I had my 2nd phone interview April 20 and the man said he was forwarding my info to Human Resource and that's all he said. I'm also working now as a RN but my heart is in the air and I will work for another airline but Delta is my 1st choice. I'm English only.

Hi ExFA, I have noticed that Delta has been very favorable to FA's from airlines that have went under. It is obviously not your fault and with your experience, it is most definitely a plus--not a negative at all! As you may know, Delta has slowed down the hiring process, since we are waiting to see how many of our current FA's are going to take a leave/retirement package so that we can figure out how many more newhire FA's we need to hire. This will be happening very soon, so stay positive and make sure to call them back every once in a while to make sure the hiring process hasn't started up again. It's great to see that you have another career on top of flying...you'll have plenty of time as a Delta FA to both fly and continue RNing! Perfect match! You're lucky! Wish you all the best and hope you hear something very soon...which you will! Stay strong and positive..I know what you mean--once you're a FA, it stays in your blood and will always be a part of you! See you back in the skies, real soon! |

DeltaFA in New York, New York said: Hi ExFA, Hello Delta FA in NYC, Hope this short post finds you doing well. Due to the fact that I don't have a direct number to Delta (only PeopleScout), I called them again yesterday and told them my situation. They checked my file and I was told that I was not disqualified and that an email was being sent to Delta letting them know of my continued interest. I don't know if I should leave it there or get a number to Delta Employment Office in ATL. What do you recommend?? Eddie |

Latinguyperez in San Juan, Puerto Rico said: Hello Delta FA in NYC, Hi Eddie, It seems like PeopleScout has notifed Delta about your situation via e-mail. Hold on tight...that's about all you can probably do at this point in time... It is really quiet in the hiring department right now, since we are waiting to see how many current FA's are going to take the leave/retirement packages (deadline is soon--May 15th). And then, they will start getting busy over there, once again. If you don't hear from Delta/PeopleScout soon, then my advice would be to call PeopleScout back, every so often, and check to see if there have been any training classes scheduled. This is probably when you will get all of your questions answered about your specific situation and the re-application process--Hopefully, they'll just schedule you for an upcoming class (when it is announced!) You're kind of in a holding pattern until the hiring process continues...

What do you suggest she should do to prepare for interviews? Thanks, Granjudy I feel those schools are a waste of time and money. Airlines have their own training. During the recruitment process I have never seen an airline take someone just because they had previous training. I feel it is mostly about how well a person does in the group interviews and one on one. They like to see enthusiasm, professionalism, smiles, and strong customer service skills. |

What do you suggest she should do to prepare for interviews? Thanks, Granjudy Hello Granjudy, Don't waste your money on FA schools. Every airline provides their own training. Foremost, its important that your granddaughter loves serving passengers at 30,000 and also know the scoop of the profession. This career is not for everyone. From my past experience, I have seen FA candidates apply for this position because they enjoy traveling and what not, and when they get on the line, they realize that this is not for them. From my past experience as a FA, it is the best career in the world. The benefits are not so bad, especially if you work for a world wide airline. As a Flight Attendant, you get paid to see the world. I have seen part of the world that many people haven't seen. At one point, I got tired of traveling to Honolulu. For some people, Honolulu is a world vacation. I think point number 1 is the most important, "does she really want to do this." Training is very intense, but you are trained by professionals. In conclusion, don't waste your money of FA school. If you have any more questions regarding this profession, please ask away. This is the purpose of this forum. Take care, Eddie |

Hi everyone!! This is such a cool forum! I was recently accepted into May 13th training class!! However, I have very little info on training. I was sent an email from peoplescout but it only included traveling privileges. I called peoplescout lastweek(twice)& today to let them know and still nothing more has been sent to me as of yet. Today I told the peoplescout rep that I didn't even know what time training start, what days, how many hours...etc. She said it starts at noon tomorrow. So, thats about all that I know. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could share some helpful info. Thanks. Best Wishes to all. I will see the May 13th soon to be F.A. tomorrow!! Take care! |
