hi , finally somebody in the 6 of May class, I wanna get to know everybody, hopefully

I'm pretty excited and ready to get started. I took the May 6 date so I would be able to work my current job the rest of this month and give a two week notice in case the training schedule won't allow for me to continue working. Because I live here in ATL, I won't be staying in the dorms, I'll just commute to training each day. It won't give me as much of a chance to bond with my fellow classmates outside of class, but at least it'll make the dorms a little less crowded.

Welcome everyone! I'm in the J class and getting ready to graduate on Wednesday. Just wanted to say congrats! You will meet some amazing people and make great friends (not with everyone, but the ones you do make will be special) Training is intense but you do have the weekends for sleep and laundry... :) You will bond with some classmates even if you drive to class everyday... I tought you only have sunday off, may be I'm wrong,another 3 days for you and y will graduate , happy for you.
Do you have any advices for the training material that we can go throught before training just to get little head start, another question , how hard is the everyday tests , I'm really stressed about it, thank you

Thanks Danielle! I take it we either get Sat or Sun off. I'm curious as to how many hours a day we'll be in class. Jihane, as for the material, I've already been told to be familiar with the airport city codes to which Delta flies. It's also a good idea to familiarize yourself with the aircraft types Delta has in its fleet. Both can be found at the airline's website, delta.com

I have had 2 prior driving while under the influence. Is this going to effect me? I have an interview with mesa today and I was wondering if they would stil hire me

I also should be leaving in a week, however no email was recieved yet , no body contacting me, is that normal????
I am so confused and have tons of questions, how is the hotel, how is the training, I m so scared of it, I have nightmares about it.

It may or may not. Each airline should have a list of criminal acts that will automatically disqualify you for employment, but from what I understand, DUI isn't one of them. I assume you included them on your application? The company will also have to do an extensive background check that verifies that drugs/alcohol have played a role in any of your previous employment.

Yes Linda, they are hiring for New York JFK mostly. This "could" include working flights out of LGA and EWR as well, but I'm not sure. I believe you're supposed to get your training emails a week before your training date (or at least that's what I was told), so if you don't get it by the 22nd then call the person with whom you set your training date.

If I remember correctly, everyone they bring into ATL for training is supposed to stay in the training academy dorms. You shouldn't be in a hotel I don't think, not for six weeks at least.

so....no....we are all in hotels...been in it for 3 weeks...love it (VERY few are in dorms)

I had my 1st phone interview last week...Had filled out the job application.But, when i completed the application and sent it..It kept on getting booted back to "Tell us more info that would help in considering you" or something like that.When, i filled out all the necessary job info...it kept on taking me back to the same place.did this about 8 times..uggg,i was so frustrated!!!..So, when i just cleared it out and sent it.and it went through...Did anyone else have this problem? also, how long did anyone have to wait for delta to call to set up an interview? what are the steps? Thanks,any help would be appreciated..

they have a free shuttle....both the hotel has its perks....as does the dorm. Transportation is easy.....i'm pretty sure most of us have two legs....and if you really are that lazy (or tired after a hard day) you can jump on a free shuttle.

I didn't have the application submission problems, but if you go for a face to face interview you have to fill out another application anyway. There have been varying wait times for calls after your first phone interview, a couple of days to maybe a week or more. They'll call you to do a second interview over the phone, and then after that they'll call to set up a Face2Face in Atlanta.

Sorry it's been a while since I wrote. I'm flying now!!! I'm out of NY. It's great! My very first trip was to Milan, Italy. I would go over the city codes. You will be tested on it around week 3. They split the test into 3 different ones. One test is 100 questions, the second is 50 and the third is 25. The everyday tests are fine...just take notes and study. Don't be stressed. I worked for NWA for 8 yrs and had to reprogram myself for Delta. Trust me, you will do fine. We didn't lose anyone in my section...

You will get Sunday off and your training flights will happen on Saturday. So, really you aren't in class on the weekends. (so it feels like 2 days off) My class started at 8:30 and let out around 6pm. There is also a class that started at 8 and another that started at 9.

Linda... I'm based in NY and I have to say it's the best! You will have so much fun. My first trip was to Milan, Italy. I also have an Ireland this month. The Email should come a few days before you are scheduled to leave... Relax, u will be ok... :)

The first training flight is a short one. Like an hour and a half flight. There will be someone on the flight (instructor like FA) that will ask you questions about equipment. You will be graded on this. My second flight was canceled and my third was a turn to DTW. (you will work all 3 flights) My class started everyday at 8:30 except towards the end when we started a couple of hours later.

I just graduated from training on Wednesday...let me just tell you, you are in for an intense six weeks, but you will make some of the best friends you will ever have! Remember stay focused, sleep when you have the chance, and form study groups! Good luck to all of you, I can't wait to see you out on the line! :-)

Thanks a lot. I'm ready to get started. I'm good on the city codes. I'll be anxious to get the water drills out of the way. I don't swim, but I'm not afraid of water either. Any other important stuff that might help us through training? Thanks.

Just eat right and get sleep. We had a lot of sick people and they were not happy. Make sure you aren't late from any breaks. They won't tolerate tardies.. There's really not much. You will have fun but study!!!!

Since you have been through the process do you have any information regarding Delta's weight requirments for the physical exam? I am a good ten pounds over the height/weight charts but I do not look it as I am active. I was offered a spot in the May 13 class and am very excited but nervous about the weight issue. Even in my interview I saw others that got hired and I had no idea how they could have gotten the seat belt around them. I am terrified of quiting my job and spending tons of money to move across the country only be told "opps, sorry, it's time for you to go home" Were there any large applicants in your training class that made it through? When do they conduct the physical exam? Thank you!

10 pounds...that's all? That's nothing now a days! :) There was one girl that was let go but she was one class in front of me. (she was an I and I was a J) She was let go cause she couldn't sit in the jumpseat and buckle herself in. The sad thing was is that she only had a few days to go before graduation. There were plenty of girls and guys that were a few pounds overweight. There is no physical exam though. Good luck!
