colgan air???

Anyone know about this airline?

Someone has to know something about this airline? I am curious about anyones experiences....

My son was hired by this company but was
not treated very well. Promised things
but they did not keep their word. Non-union so not much protection for the employees.

Thank you! I read that the stealworkers union has taken on Colgan flight attendants. They now have a union.....I have read really bad things about the flight attendant position for Colgan....no one is saying anything good.

I know Colgan was in talks to go union
and I am pleased they have done so. I
didn't elaborate on my sons position but
it was for a pilot. He is young (19) but very capable. His choices with other companies are limited because of his age. He has since taken a flight attendant position with Republic Airlines, whom he says is a great company to work. for. When he reaches age 21, he will be eligible to work for them a a 1st officer position and I am hoping he can move into that position.

I am attending an open house may I ask what questions they asked you in the interview process.....or at least so I have an idea of what to expect for the open house....how long it took....oh and the benefits.....Thank you so much!!! I am excited for you and glad to hear the news.

Hi Saturn-What state are you going to the session in?

They make you feel very comfortable. This airline is growing so fast and this is a perfect time to get in.

If you live near Newark they are having a session on April 16th. They are hiring and move very fast in the process.

They ask the usual questions. Be yourself, smile and dress professional. Come prepared.

Bring your resume, cover letter, passport, license, s.s.#, recommendation letters and copies of all.

Don't be nervous and be yourself and SMILE, SMILE, SMILE. Be willing to take any base they offer you.

You will love them. They are great!

Benefits are great. They pay you for training.Pay is about the same with the others...Only United is different and is much less. United and American and American Eagle do not pay you for training. Colgan Air pays you for training.

Oh I just read your other post.....well that is good about the benefits. I know they pay for training.....the other question I have is about the fly perks. If you care to share....

I have been really excited about this opportunity with Colgan and soo I am nervous but really think I am a good candidate for them so I feel prepared. Is there anything maybe I should know otherwise.

I have been on this board for weeks now and really feel I have a good idea of what to expect.

I will see you Wed. I am also very nervous as well. I think it is only 1 or 2 interviews. I have no idea what to expect as I just read the forums for delta and some others to get ideas for questions. I am excited for this airline because it is not far from where I live and I think it is up and coming airline.

I was considering Colgan Air but I am a little bit curious about the airline. From the research that I am doing, do they have overnights or are you at home every night? The overnights are the most fun part of the job, if they do not have overnights than I might consider other airlines. Thanks!

Yeahh i went.. but i went to the 5 pm One! I loved tammy lol I think shes the sweetest! I just hope everything goes smoothly.. & I can start tranning soon!!!

& yeah Bill There are Overnights.. from what they tolds us in the open interview.. you will be having up to 3 day trips sometimes... but not everytime!

Well it should not take that long... because if we get it.. they want us to start classes asap.. on the 28th... so Im guessing its soon!...

And I cant tell by your name if your a male or female lol... but I know the you get a blazer, a button down, pants and a skirt for the females... same for male but ofcours without the skirt.. and I know the button downs are white with gold! and I believe the rest is navy.

oh lol!! I did not realize you couldn't tell my gender...im female. The uniforms are probably very generic.Did you go for drug testing? I am hoping to get this thing going so we can start asap. I am ready now...lol. However, I would not mind taking a quick vacation now....

I was trying to go but the other lady was not around to give the info. I am sure they have at least 20 of us to work on.....this should be interesting to see how this all gets processed. The 28th is not far away...they mush have another class after that. Do you when we get off reserve? Did they mention that....I forgot if they said anything about the reserve issues...

Yeah they might have another class.. but she told us.. thats it after this they are not going to hire anymore for a while.. so Im not sure...

yeah you can stay on reserve for about 6 months up to 2 years.. sometimes even more.. it depends... not really sure on what though.

really....thanks for that info. I guess like everything else in this industry anything can change. It was really interesting when she said that people were already let go in training. I am surprised that people are not taking this training seriously. With this airline industry being so unpridictable it is getting harder to work for the airlines. To not take it seriously must mean you did not want to be there. This is a lifestyle and you don't do it for the money....ya know what I mean???

yeah I know.. some of the stories she was telling us.. I was just like WOW! yeah its not really about the money.. Its more about the passion.. they kinda did the ones that didnt take it seriously a favor lol...

Everything for me has gone through and cleared, I just have to schedule the drug test!! After that, I get the details of everything.

I am hoping to go next Monday for training.....somehow I don't know how all that would be possible. I do want to go next Monday. I heard that you don't get to go home for the weekends for training you stay there for the 18 days.

Yeah training is 6 days a week with one day off which is sunday (according to the recruiter).

Hey everyone!! OMG I got 'the call' this morning lol... YaYy!! they want me to start training the 28th.. She was like that I have been aproved! Im so excited... they are sending me my ticket and everythnig I need to bring in with me the mail. so I should have it in a few day!!

I still have drug testing to do today, not sure. I am thinking tomorrow they will tell me more. Did they make you wait for the drug testing/screening. I know usually it takes awhile. I am going to ewr at 2 for the screening.

yeah I hope they contact me again be4 I leave.. I have alot more questions to ask...

but yeah Omg they had me waiting forever... there is alot of people there when I went! and they couldnt find my file so they had to fax it over again.. it was crazy... give your self bout 2 & ahalf hours! Well you might be lucky and get in & out quickly.

DIMA!!! That is so awesome!! I have my drug testing on wednesday, once that is done i am in. everything else has been cleared. i don't think i will be able to make it to the 28th training class which means I will be going in may. i sent you an email back.... check it =) we have to keep in touch so we can work together this summer!!!!
