I made a very foolish mistake and plead guilty to misdemeanor theft just two weeks before I was supposed to start flight attendant training. I didn't do it and I was innocent but if I wanted to go to the training I had only one option--plead guilty and be placed on 1 year supervision. So I'm on self-supervision for the next 12 months. This way no conviction for anything is, or was entered. I just paid a fine and have to obey the law for the next year. If I do, at the end of a year the case will be completely dismissed. I didn't have much choice in the matter. I couldn't stay to fight it, there wasn't time. What I need to know is whether this will show up on my criminal history records check at flight attendant school. It seems that the FAA looks for "convictions" and I should be OK, but does anybody know? or know where I can find out for sure? Thanks, chenn49117 |

My advice would to be honest with the airline that you are going to training for, its worse if they find out. They may find out later and dismiss you from training-I have a DUI misdemeanor and put if on my application and it wasn't a problem because I was upfront about. |

Most airlines tend to look for the FAA list of violations (felonies including murder, sedition, hijacking, etc.). Try a Google search for FAA flight attendant background check and you should find it. Read your application very carefully as well. Most will only ask if you are guilty of a felony or any of the FAA violations. I would think that the misdemeanor will not keep you from being hired even if you have to submit your paperwork for the misdemeanor to the airline. Trust me... 55,000 FAs aren't all misdemeanor free! |

Hello everyone, I thank you so much for talking about this subject that i do worry about it soooooo much, I am almost hired for an airline as Flight Attendant , i already did my fingerprint, and going for a drug test tomorrow, i was at the wrong place couple years ago, i made a mistake that i feel deeply guilty about it every single day, i wish i never did, that was the biggest mistake in my life, wish was shoplifting and i get caught, just to be honest with you guys and be more specific, if anyone can give me an advice, my the recruiter she did like me soooo much and she want to hire me, and i was asked if i was arrested before which i denied, cause i was afraid not to get the job, cause my goal is to become flight attendant, and I am really dying to get it, i had 1 year discharge, means that I am not supposed to do anything, i also attend a class that i was given for shoplifting, I am out of trouble and change person, now I am soooooo worry that they will find out on my background check, and i will be denied the job, and from my understanding is this misdemeanor?

k in Kansas City - I agree with you. That comment was extremely rude. famalloyg: I sincerely hope that you didn't mean your comment to be rude and that it just came across like that to k and I. There are numerous people on these threads for whom English is not a first language. That could be the case here. And to simply tell someone that they won't be hired is tantamount to saying that you know all of the particulars of this person's case and the airline they have applied for. Sarah: Be straight forward with the recruiter, take responsibility for your past actions, and hope for the best. Good luck to you. |
