Hi yellowstone,

Delta is offering us FA's leave and retirement packages until May 15th. After that, the plan is to hire more newhire FA's. We are doing this so we can get rid of the highest-paying FA's and hire new FA's who are more excited, fresh and get paid alot less to do the job...great business move!

So, right now...things have slowed down, however if Delta did tell you they would call you for a F2F, they will! We are just waiting to see how many FA's take the package by May 15th, so we can decide how many more FA's we will need to hire...and then, more F2F's and training classes will be announced. That is the current plan. Stay positive and keep your excitement! Hope you get that call soon! Best of luck!

Hi DeltaFA,

I applied in Nov 07 and did all the telphone interview etc. Waiting now on them to call me for the F2F in Atlanta. I had called the 800# a couple of times but was told to hold tight as the process is slow. I know i will do good at the interview but my concern is; due to the merger, will the hiring process stop for a while? I like the idea that the Older Fa are being presented with such a package so others could get a chance to experience this career. I applied to CAl but was rejected and I applied to UAL in 2006 and got the job, but i broke my leg and could not attend the 2007 class. i repapplied in 08 but was not accepted this time....funny isn't it? i am banking on Delta as i am told they are great and the FAs are non-unionized/ How are the trips and the culture there?

Thanks so much for your response. I am told by Delta that my app will be kept for 6mths and I am free to apply again after that time....funny enough, this month makes it six minths since i applied and I am still waiting a F2F.

HH

Hi Howie,

I just don't understand why they would make you re-apply after you've already been accepted once to training, and because of a broken leg, you would have to re-apply a second time and then get denied???...just doesn't make too much sense to me! As if your not good enogh the second time around because of a healed broken leg?????...(It's really not funny--it's quite sad if you ask me!) I'll never understand the dynamics behind some of the hiring tactics!

The culture is great! If international travel is really what you want to do, this is the place for you! As for the merger goes, we really don't know what's going to happen once the merger goes through (they say this is happening at the end of this year!) Things with the merger seem to be moving quite fast, because, as of this next week, Delta and Northwest employees can fly free on any of each others flights (Great news!) Until the official merger, the two airlines will stay separate... and Delta is expanding with more international travel, thus, needing more FA's. With the plan of increased destinations AND the senior FA's taking the leave packages...it is obvious that we will need more newhire FA's. Wish you all the best and hope to see you in the skies, soon!

DeltaFA,

Thanks for your response. I hope they will call me to thef2f in ATL. Have you heard anything on them not hiring now due to the fuel cost? I do understand the the Fa leave and retiremnt pkge. That make sense as they have some FAs that are there for more than 30 odd years...time to give others a chance...do u think?

Keep me posted on any changes as I will not give up at this point...The interviews i can handle as I had more than enough training dealing with UAL, CAL, ASA and others. What coutries did you fly to and what are your faves?

Thanks and be safe....it is my pleasure!

Howie!

Hi Howie!

No, we have not heard anything about not hiring because of the fuel cost. I just know that we will be short FA's once we add more trips and lose the FA's taking the leave packages. Hopefully, you'll be hearing about the F2F sooner that you expected!

And as for the countries I fly to...all of the ones Delta flies to! I like to fly variety! Faves?--just depends what I'm in the mood to do...Sushi in Japan, shopping in Italy, suntan in Hawaii, skiing in Switzerland, partying in Brazil, etc....

This job (lifestyle) is truly unexplainable and non-comprehensive to people that are not in it! I was only gonna do it for a year or so..I think that's what everyone says, and then the "bug" gets you when you realize how much of the world you have yet to see...it's quite addicting! You'll see very soon!
