Does an invite to the training guarantee you will be flying after training ends? Or do they kinda just put you on the back burner until they need you??

With Delta you only have 6 reserve days a month...the rest of the time you hold a line. So yes, you will be flying right away. As long as you make it through training and graduate =)

It sounds like for some of you you get a call back eally quick, while others
got to wait,,,guess a lot of people have applied? !!!
and as for the language tests, i guess since i am fluent in two , i should put down those two, not the other two i can understand,,,
since not sure if i would pass a test,, right
so its all a very long process,,,
i have to wait to middle of may to reapply,
there is no short cuts around that , is there ????
have a good day u all!

Hello Could Somebody PLEASE Help me out on a few questions. This is my 3rd try.

I applied for delta a long time ago. I called the 1-800 number to check status and they updated my contact info and then asked me if I had time to do phone interview right then. I did. They asked lots of situation like questions and then they asked me which airport I would like to fly out of for an interview. My question is will I have to wait long for an interview? and Can I work very part time with delta? What are the min hours I need to put in a month? I was also told I would be based in New York I said I lived in Cleveland and they said I did not have to relocate Just commute. Is there anyone out there who commutes for delta now? If someone could Please answer me that would be great::))

Based on what I read, I imagine you were interviewed in ATL? If so, there is no getting around that. They will check, and it would be dishonest if you was to put that you never applied and they check and saw you did.

May is around the corner. As for Languages, since you will be tested, put down the languages that you are fluent.

Best of luck.

Thanks in advance for any reply you can provide. I am wondering, can you choose to fly just your six days of reserve, or do you have to pick up trips in addition to the six days of reserve? Do you receive an assignment of your reserve days at the beginning of the bid?

- Was this comment helpful? Yes / No Reply - Report abuse

EMEITALIA in Chicago, Illinois

Yes...your reserve days are assigned at the beginning of each month but you're able to switch and trade them out with other FA's.....and you only HAVE to fly your reserve days. Outside of that, you can fly as many or as few days as you'd like =)

Hey,

I've been reading all these comments in this forum and this is my first time posting. I applied and already had my 1st phone interview around Dec. (2007), but haven't heard from them since completing my online assessment. I didn't call back either since I went back to college (I'm graduating this May) and wouldn't be in a position to have a f2f. But now that I'm graduating in early May, should I give them a call now or wait a little longer, since I can't have a F2F until after May 16th (that's when my college semester ends). After all these years of being a student, I'm really excited about working for an airline like Delta; hopefully my language skills (I speak fluent Mandarin) will help me!

Hey there,

I wish you the best of luck in your efforts. I actually did my first phone, second phone interview and now got asked to the final process in ATL so you should apply all over again and see what happens.

Thanks for replying! But my real qualm is whether or not I should call them since I'm afraid they'll conduct a 2nd interview on the spot and (if I pass) arrange a F2F soon after because I can't fly anywhere until after I finish college (May 16th). Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hey there,

Well if they do then what you should do is just be honest and tell them that your in school and you wont be done until May 16th and I am sure they will note your file and see what they can do. I am pretty sure they can't promise anything but at least they can note your file of your situation and try to work around that but I know they have a class starting like may 20th so I am sure they might be trying to fill that class up. Again good luck and hope everything goes well for you.

Hello,

The answer to your question I am not sure how it all works because I am just an applicant myself who has went through everything and now waiting for my F2F but just be patient. I am thinking tha with the merger with NW, Delta is going to need alot of help so they will be hiring lots of FA's at least I believe so. I don't know about the part time thing because they need people around the clock and with the reserve schedule I am sure you will be working alot bc they dont have you on reserve the entire month.

Thanks so much for this quick reply and perhaps you are still on line for a follow up question; So will the reserve days typically be grouped into say, three days at a time? If I cannot realistically fly much more than six days a month and have a 5hr commute to NYC is it realistic to think that through trade or otherwise I could basically end up with about 8 days/month in the air between commuting days and reserve days?

MIBELLA IN OHIO: You only are required to work your 6 reserve days, outside of that, it's up to you how much you fly during the month. Your reserve days are assigned to you, however, you can trade and switch with other FA's if you need to move around your reserve days. You will fly two 3day trips or one 6 day trip. From the time I had my last phone interview to the time I was called for a F2F was six weeks....from mid November until almost mid Jan. 2008. I went down Jan. 16 for my F2F....didn't get a conditional offer when there.....

then three months later....I got a phone call.

My training class starts May 6th. But I've also heard many people who have gone through the entire process in only one week. It's completely different one person to the next, just be patient....if it's meant to be, they'll call you! =)

Good Luck!!!!

THANK YOU So much for reply. May I also ask. Is it realistic to commute from Ohio to NY to work? How much is uniform?

No problem =) That commute is TOTALLY doable! Seeing as I'll be moving to Texas in July and will be commuting from there =) Ohio will be a snap =) The uniform is around $800 total for luggage and everything but they take it out of your paycheck in increments of $20 so you don't have to worry about having money for that upfront =)

I didn't hear anything about being able to buy your own luggage....or anything about a credit.

All I've heard is that towards the end of training you go and pick out your choice of luggage pieces and your uniform, and that the cost is taken out of your paycheck a little bit at a time so that it's not a burden.

Emeitalia... I have a question for you. When on reserve, do you sit reserve at the airport or you wait to be called out. The reason I ask is b/c at other airlines, on reserve it means that you wait to be called out for a trip. Here at Delta, what is the case?

Looking forward to your reply.

From what I understand you wait to be called. You have to be in the area (crash pad) so that you aren't needing to commute on your reserve days, but you don't have to physically be AT the airport. Usually they give you around a 4-6 hour notice, but it can possibly be as little as 2 hours notice, but never less than that....at least, this is what I was told at the F2F.

Thank you for your reply. Over at AA, there were times where you sat at the airport which was called Ready Reserve. Then you had Reserve where you sat at home and waited to be called out.

Still waiting for my F2F and I'm a bit anxious. Want to get to flying. Is the BEST career in the world.

I wish you the very best. As a former FA for a major career, allow me to give you some advice:

Stay focus and don't give up. Training is not easy, at times it can become stressful. Study, but don't burn yourself to death. Eat right, rest and keep a positive attitude.

The exams are not difficult if you study. At AA we took our exams over the computer and everyone had a different exam.

You've reached this far and you ought to be proud. Soon you will see that time passes by real fast and the next thing you know, you are heading to graduation.

Though, I've never worked for Delta, I have flown for AA and NWA. All the trainings are alike in some way. Every airline modifies it their way, but in general, its the same.

Let me know if I can be of assistance to you.

Hello Everyone,

I have a question. I just applied for Delta and went through everything the phone interviews the assessment and I found out at the end of it all that I am in the final interview process which is the F2F and I am very excited about it. Having worked for a regional airline for a short time. I am wondering will that be something that Delta looks at since it is experience. Do they take that into consideration? Also how long does it take for us to get an email about traveling to ATL for the F2F? Lastly are we responsible for our transportation or does Delta provide that for us? Please answer these questions for me. Thanks so much and have a great night.

First and foremost, congratulations in reaching this point. You have something going for you. You have the experience. As for your date for your F2F, it all depends. Some folks get a call within a week, others it may take longer. I am still waiting for my F2F interview date. After applying and going through the process, I had received a call from DAL scheduling me for my F2F, however, when they called (several times) I was sent to Dubai on a task force with my company. I was out in Dubai for one month 1/2.

When I got back they had called me appx 6 times. I got back home not too long ago and I called them and explained to them my situation. They told me not too worry that they will definately call me. They did this past Friday, but when I returned their call, all the slots were filled. Again, I was told that they will call me as soon as they have interview dates available.

That's where I stand. To answer your questions, DAL will provide you R/T transportation from you home city to ATL. Please note and based on what I have read here, the F2F interview day is long, so eat a big breakfast. They do provide snacks, and pops.

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck. If you have any other question, please feel free to ask.

Answers to your questions...I'll try my best.
It seems like the waiting time period for an interview is different for each one of us...so my suggestion to you is CALL THEM and follow up in your status and emphasis your continued interest in the position.
As far as commuting its all about planning and my suggestion will be as a commuter to get to your base the night before if possible especially when you are on your reserve days.
as far as the part time hours...I am not exactly sure but I would think you must work at least your reserve days and the rest of the month you can swap your trips and also keep in mind that you will get 12-13 days OFF each month.

I hope this will help you...Go for your dream and your goal and the rest will fall into a place as you go with the flow...

Let me know your thought...SMILES

they claimed may 6th was the last.......... foudn out it's not true though.

the only other i know of is may 13th.

i think how it works is that they fill up each class before they tell you about all the later ones. so, they could only offer late april/early may for me. they won't schedule you a month before the class starts, and will probably tell you that the class they give is the "last possible date"

but when talking to others who had extreme circumstances, they were able to schedule later dates.

from what i understand, that is the LAST class that they are FILLING. I do not think it is the LAST CLASS period by any means.

then when that is full, they will fill another.... and so on... but if they are interviewing fewere people then the classes just might start to be farther apart this summer.

that is my understanding.

Anne,

Mines was a while back. I had received several calls from DAL to schedule a F2F interview, but because I was in a business trip (Dubai) I was not able to return their calls.

Last Friday, I received a call and when I called back all the slots were filled. I just happened to call to do a follow-up and I was give a date.
