RJ- did you read the JB forum?
I remember someone mentioning a guy that was
a model.. stood up in front of the group and stated
that Delta wasn't his first choice..nor was being
a flight attendant..(His current occupation was model)
Maybe that was on the day Nycgirl went? I just remember
the details because he was selected and received a CJO.

Hi DeltaFA,

I have been reading quite a few threads as of late and am wondering if you could explain page 5 of 2008 DELTA'S NEW FLIGHT ATTENDANT ACADEMY STINKS. I am not sure what you meant.

LOL.. I remember that! That was when DeltaFa was making
a joke out of the headline.. Someone was trying to 'cut up'
the Delta Training Academy. It didn't really stink at all..
just a silly joke about how it possibly could 'smell' bad with
soooo many people in one room and how we all would gladly be in that room given the chance to be there.
Then there was:
D- Doesn't
E- Everyone
L- love
T- that
A- As*

At some point we all had come up with funny 'this and that'
with the Delta letters.

Delta provides transportation from Kew Gardens to all three airports: JFK, LGA, EWR. All you need is the tip. The transportation system is so efficient that it negates the need for a car completely. If you are doubtful, give it a month before you make a decision. No commuting F/A's have a car there. It is strange to not have a car, but it is more strangely liberating!

There are plenty of young people as well as old ones (myself being the latter!). It was my observation that Delta seemed to divide it almost in half as far as the age group they hired. I believe they came to realize that life experience goes a long ways, longer in fact, than a well constructed resume. From your posts, you honestly sound as if you have nothing to worry about.

Thanks, Gringa! Your post made my day. That was very nice of you to say. It does sound like you can get to and from work just fine without a car there in Kew Gardens. I was worried how one would have time to get their vehicle to NY after training; not so concerned about it now. However, wouldn't a new hire need to actually relocate and live there full-time? In that case, one may want a car. At any rate, I like the suggestion of just trying it out for a month or so & then decide if you actually need a car. I am glad to hear that you can get by fine without one though.

Shanester, thank you also for the valued insight. You helped alleviate any concern I had; now all that's left is pure excitement!

Hmm, we could come up with our own definitions of what the NO mark signifies, such as:

Nice Opinion
No Opinion
No Objection
No Opposition
Neanderthals Object!

HA HA...whatever... ;-)

Kat,

You do not need to live there full time. You can commute from day one, that I promise you. You should look me up sometime. I live one block west of Willamette Park. Are you anywhere near? Would love to grab some coffee with you sometime!

I was just in John's Landing this afternoon for a hair appointment. I love that area - I worked in that area for 8 years. I'm living in the Alameda/Beaumont area now. So, you're only 10 minutes (or less) away. I do love Portland, but thought I would have to leave it behind for I didn't know how long before commuting might be possible. Wow! That is some news to hear that commuting is possible from day one. Although, I think I would spend awhile in NY until I really knew all the ropes of the job, scheduling, commuting, etc. So much to learn. It would be great to join you for a cup of coffee some time! I'm going to Seattle tomorrow morning and will be gone a week or so. Attending a funeral, and then heading over to Moses Lake to visit my son before the passes become covered in snow for the winter. (No airlines fly into Moses Lake - it's always a road trip.) I'll touch base with you when I get back in town and see what your schedule is like. I'll buy lunch if you like. Sushi at Koji's? Or the Buffalo Gap? Or Rivers? You pick. Looking forward to meeting you. You've been so helpful and so nice to everyone on here, and it seems you really love your job. You're a great mentor!

Does Delta usually let employees know when they are going to open up the application process for flight attendants?

DELTAFA - You are right. I was recalling that everyone had been OFFERED the opportunity to return, but you're right - some continued to postpone.

Regarding the commuting issue (from NY), everyone should rest assured that there is probably no easier commute than NY (especially to ATL and other large bases). I have some friends who are flying commuters out of obscure cities and do not have DAL privileges, and commuting is terribly hard for them. We get spoiled with our Delta nonrev privileges, because you can always "get there from here" as long as you have privileges on Delta. So there is no reason to feel that you have to move to NY lock, stock, and barrel - unless you want to, of course, but it's very expensive, you'd have to have lots of roommates, and that's not for everyone.

I used to go to my hubby's crashpad in Kew Gardens occasionally, and there was NO SUCH THING as privacy. :)

Hallo deltafa,
hoe gaat het.
dankjewel voor je informatie.
How many languages do you speak, you are awesome.
Is it easy to drop being a LOD.
Can you just do that?
Do I make a good chance because I am already a FA, or it doesn't matter with Delta.

My whole family still lives in Amsterdam so that would be awesome to go home all the time but I would love to see more of the world than just europe.

Je info is heel erg gewaardeerd, je bent een schat.

What a coincidence!! Yep - afternoon session. There was an AirTran f/a chosen (female), a woman who did local tv and voice-overs, and a young hispanic girl with long hair (from NY) who was a social worker chosen. Those are all of the details that I can remember of the ones who got the CJO. I remember walking out to the parking lot afterwards with a cute blond girl who was just fussing and fussing. I spent all of my energy trying to console her, and then drove home in a fog, head reeling from all that had just happened. Funny how the memory of certain days stick with you. Back then, I swore that I would never put myself through that again.

Don't forget to invite Debbi, too...she's around the corner in Bend, Oregon!

The wind? Is that all that's happening out there? LOL!
Of course you're invited on our France layovers, too! That's right, you speak French too! Sorry my bad! You can come along just as long you don't mnetion the "D" word when we are there, OK? ("D" = Diet! LOL! The worst of all bad words! LOL! Forbidden, OK? If you follow the rules, you're good to go!~LOL!)

This is the perfect time of year to be in OZ! Surely you miss it!
I could really benefit from being on Bondi Beach about now!
Oh them Aussie Boys...need I say more? LOL!

I love it.."loitering around the airports just to meet up with you guys!"
Sounds kind of like a FA junkie...LOL!
We'd be devastated too...but there is no need to think down those roads!
One day we all will be working around the globe together...
We will call ourselves the DELTA GLOBETROTTERS! LOL!
That will be our official nickname! :)

I definately won't bring up the D word...I'll just get out my megaphone and make y'all run around the block in between snacks!
And I like the sound of the Delta Globetrotters, and one of those new trips, that everyone will get a chance to go on with Delta will be Australia...so look out Aussies here they come

DeltaFA in New York, New York said: Ask away..that's what we're all here for!

No.. Continental is leaving SkyTeam. (BUT you can get ID90 travel on them.)

As far as actual flying and sitting on the jumpseat...only Delta FA's are allowed to fly the jumpseat onboard Delta aircraft...no other employees of Delta AirLines or FA's from other airlines can sit on our jumpseats.

If you are a DeltaFA and fly on other airlines, you may possibly be able to sit on their jumpseats...but not vice a versa. Hope that makes somewhat sense...LOL!

As a Delta FA, you can fly on many other airlines for FREE...(on a passenger seat:)

American Airlines (& Eagle), United Airlines, Northwest Airlines (obviously now,)
USAirways, Southwest, JetBlue, Frontier, Midwest, ExpressJet, PSA...that I can recall of the top of my head and traveled on myself! Absolutely FREE if seat available! (The rest of the airlines you get ID90 tickets = 90 percent off)

Are you planning on commuting from Arizona? Very possible (and easy!)
I do it form California!

Delta FA

What is the procedure to fly on another airline. Lets' say I got in from a trip and AA has flts available, do you just show up at the gate or is there a procedure to follow?

DeltaFA, I didn't know you commuted from Cali. LA? SFO? SAN? I am actively trying to pick out of LAX O.T. on my days off. I also try to swing as many J/W trades out of PDX that I can so that I can get paid to get to NY. In fact, I am on 148 tomorrow morning. Look me up and that way you can get my name and sked. Would love to meet up sometime!

If all else fails, I know you will see my bag at some point in the crew lounge. It has a big pink handle on it that says GRINGA. That's me!

YEAH! I am totally keeping my hopes up, and already saving for training. I just hope my 2 other airlines (CO, and NK which I was furghloed from) don't hurt me! I know I interview well, and my resume reads well too, I was intvited to interview with NetJets recently, but that didnt go my way. But there was 3000 apps they took, which became 30 face to face interviews, for 4 spots. Talk about crazy! I felt great just to be flown up to CMH. Honestly though the whole time I was going up, I thought is it really for me? Small planes? I am a big plane kinda guy, even more so sense I am 6'2 lol. Working a DAL 757 is my DREAM! That new paint job on it is BEAUTIFUL! Not to mention DAL has the largest fleet of 75's in the world. Makes my day as its my favorite plane ever.

Hi Everyone,
Hope you all having a good week so far.
I got home today from the hospital few hours ago. I was in bad car accident over the weekend and I injured my leg. For those of you familiar with Atlanta it happened on GA 400 Hwy&85 and according to friend that it was on the traffic news since 3 lanes were closed.
I have been very upset and in a lot of pain. I was so ready to come home after spending the last few days in the hospital. Now i'll have to attend extensive Physical therapy and I have to shop for a new car when I get well.

I pray for speedy recovery. Missed you All.

DeltaFA,
Thanks for caring..You're Amazing kind soul. I am VERY THANKFUL to be alive and counting my blessings. I do have a family member who came to town to be with me and some friends. As you might know my buddy Ajay is away in Europe on Business trip and I haven't emailed him yet responding to his last email before he left the country and he had also left me a voice mail but my cell phone is gone since my car was totaled.

I still can't remember the last minutes before all this happened.
All I know according to what I've told a driver who originally caused the accident took off speeding... and there were 3 other cars in addition to mine.

All I am focused on now is to start the PT and recovery. I don't want to see any police reports or nothing at this time.

OK..FOOD..I am so hungry for some juicy bigo burger with all the toppings..my favoriate is at Fuddruckers..I hope you are familiar with it. I also love In&out burgers from Cali....Food&more food..I've lost few pounds with all that nasty hospital food..so now I can eat more and not worry about any weight...LOL

I'll keep you posted..Thanks again for your caring.

RODNEY - I'm SOOOO sorry. I didn't hear the news over the weekend, but then again, there are so many wrecks up in that area that you become numb to it after a while. I'm so upset for you. I would have come to the hospital if I had known. If you need anything at all, post to me, and I can be there in a flash. Do you have any pets that need taken care of? Anything at all - you name it!

Hi to everyone.
I really like to read everything over there.
Still, from time to time - i'm check Delta Job page.
No opportunity to apply .
Then, when i put delta.greatjob.net/jobs/EntryServlet.......
- it's open page to apply, still accept application - but not from Delta web page.
Hm..what am i missing... In the page, where you put your personal inf, 1st application page - on the bottom is Privacy Statement.
After bla-bla-bla ...on the bottom it statet - People Scout.
So, we put application directly to People Scout, not directly to Delta...
And, delta.greatjob.net - is People Scout web page.
Well - still fill funny - because haven't got even initial phone interview back to July, 08.
Is there any russian or ukrainian speaking " forum citizen " ?
So much emotion inside - only russian language can help release pressure from inside of Spirit...:-)
Again, thanks to everyone - many time your messages make my day...
DeltaFA : is there any Russian and Ukrainian FOOD favorite for you?
At least - to listen about them from your professional mind...:-)
Good day to everyone!
