Hello all, I am new. I just finished my second phone interview and was told they would contact me for a FTF, I know the training starts Jan 07 so it seems kind of late however she said they were still going forward with that date. I did read something here about different start dates? So confused. Also I have read so many things I am confused, do you really have to be slender to get the FA positon, I am in no way big but I am not slender, also I have seen FA that are heavier than me on Delta before, what is the deal?
thanks so much guys!! |

Another question, do we really have to move to where we are based from if chosen or can we commute? I know a FA with Delta that lives in TX and is based out of Cincinati and commutes all the time, she does not live in Cincinati. In other words can we just stay out there when we fly out? |

you can commute - but when on reserve you have to be on the plane within an hour or so of being called. speaking of which....how soon do you get commuter passes/flight benefits on Delta? and how senior are the international routes out of JFK? (how many years seniority until we can get overwater?) realistically - is most jr. f/a 3 or 4 years out of JFK (like when I was with AA?) Black pumps - I would wait to find out what the uniform regulation is. Same with luggage. At AA we had to buy the travelpro from them - it was payroll deducted. At Omni - if your address mapquest'ed within 30 miles of training - you had to drive in and out everyday - otherwise you are at the hotel for 1 month. if anyone has insider info - (friend based at JFK, etc) that would help |

atl_goddess in stockbridge, Georgia said: ready 2 fly i just got my offer yesterday iAM SOOOO PUMPED!!! I grew up here so you know i've wanted to fly for delta forever. they told me that more this likely if you're strictly english speaking we probably won't be going to training until like the third week of january..they're pushing a class a week fron jan.07 all the way till the end of summer. they said they have to hurry and get the Manderin (hope i spelled that right) online ASAP b/c of the whol Shanghai thing... they said they didn't fingerprint us b/c there's an expiration on the fingerprints and if they're not POSITIVE they are going to put you in on Jan. 7 that they did it on spot but if not you'll do fingerprinting on your first day of training. What kind of questions were you asked at the FTF? Were there several recruiters you talked to? Also I read that you rotate in groups?? |

I had my phone screen today...and then immediately did my online accessment...I used to fly for comair...so I know a lot of the ins and outs of the position...also, One of my good friends flew with me at Comair, but went back to Delta...if you know someone within the company you will get considered before others because of the inside referral. All of the new fa will be based out of JFK...it is really the place you want to be because Delta is expanding so many new routes from that location. You will have only 3 reserve days a month...so you have to be ready to go at the drop of a hat...but for the rest of the month you have have a line...or set schedule...my friend only flies 12-14 days a month. Also you can trade your trips that are in open time...if you dont like the trip you were given. Fa training is the most exciting yet difficult experience that most everyone will experience...if I can give you any advise...dont party while you are in training and study in groups...a lot of material is covered...and at comair...you could only fail one test...the second...you were gone...take care of yourself...get plenty of rest...we had a trainee that got sick and was out of the program. Some tips for the interview...you want to make sure that you are wearing Deltas colors...which I believe is navy and red...not too much jewelry...plain and simple...simple makeup for girls...clean shaven for guys...they want to be able to picture you as a Fa...this will help out...be very outgoing...smile alot...act interested...and make sure that you sent out a "Thank you" card...or and email to the head recruiter...you want these people to remember you...so if there is anything that you can do to set yourself apart...then do it. I know that comair took good care of us...they bought our roller board ...uniforms were payroll deducted...you know that you are almost there when you go to get fitted for your uniforms.

CVG F/A, how long at Delta before we get travel passes (to be able to commute?) about how many years to transfer to ATL? what is their avg senority? I'm assuming it's the most senior base. I've been trying to find info on bid services/TT to ask what kind of lines the most junior f/a's are holding. Can you imagine being at the bottome (vacation replacement) for 7 years. I'm sure they are glad Delta is finally hiring. seniority is everything. |

Here are the latest facts: over 32,000 applicants, and 367 offered training positions.....first classes will be language speakers only as they are critical - especially Mandarin........if you haven't been contacted, be patient..... No official announcement yet on number of A-days, but expect 6 to 9, and normal call out is 3 hours, but you can preference trips...... Most (not all) positions will be based in NYC, some ATL.....remember, if based in NYC, you must cover LGA, JFK, and EWR..... good luck to all..... |
|
DLinsider in Elizabeth, New Jersey 54 months ago |
You can jumpseat right away, but travel passes start after 30 days.....transfers depend on need - sometimes bases open up all the time, sometimes it takes months and on the west coast - years....being new and at the bottom, expect to work holidays and weekends for a long time......but, you never know.....no such thing at DL as vacation replacement...... |

how many in each training class? we started each week with 60 at AA (no class had all graduate - we lost 11 in ours - 1992). I don't want to start on week 7 (already)...that 400 people senior to me so far!! - oh yeah - I need the interview first! So everyone holds a line? I didn't know EWR too (just like AA). I was based at JFK for 5 years. What about sitting standby at the airport for 6 hours? (I don't miss that) |

I was not offered the job, but was told that I was still in the running. I wonder if anyone has been called back after not having been chosen on the day of the interview. Anyone got a clue? One of the others said she thought it was Delta's was of letting us down easy. |

At least this is what the recruiter told me. At least you know you are in!! |

cforward in Atlanta, Georgia said: so you were still contacted or did you call them I called them and they said that they had had some problems with the applications going through. After sending it in the second time i didn't feel any better about the successful submission. But, some weeks later I called again to see if all my material was in and was told that it was. However, like I said, during the ftf I was handed a photo copy of an incomplete application, but it did not have as much detail information as the online one. Their main concern was the ten years of work history. |

Hi anxious in Hawaii: I was also hired in November and told the same thing regarding the two classes starting on Jan (9-5 pm and 1-9pm). Similarly to a few people on this site, I haven't been contacted yet for my training day, and I am language qualifies. I guess we should be patient and keep each other posted. It is the only way to reassure ourselves that we all have the same experiences. As soon as I get an email/call I will come let you guys know. |

Well I guess I found another person in the same position as me. I am getting a bit worried, even though I try to stay upbeat. I have not heard anything about the Jan 7 class being full, but I'd like to get some info, so that I can plan a few things prior to starting. Please let me know if you get a call or something. Otherwise, I guess we've got to just keep being patient! |

Wow, it's been a really long time and I still haven't set a date for my FTF. I was told I was getting one on Thanksgiving Day. I received two e-mails since then confirming that I was getting a FTF and to hang tight. Perhaps my location has something to do with this? I live in California. I don't know if that has anything to do with it, but it seems strange that it would take so long. I'm not worried or anything, but I do wonder if perhaps I've been forgotten, heh. Congrats to all that were hired on! Good luck on passing training!!! I haven't been around for a while so I have a lot of reading to do to see how everyone's FTF turned out. |

TRIMD4TKOFF in nw subs chicago, Illinois said: LIV where are you??? Were you not chosen that day? Did they tell you you were still in the running? Wasn't that a terrible feeling to have all those chosen walk out with those smiles on their faces and knowing you weren't going with them? We all just sat there looking at each other knowing what it meant. It's been three days and I still feel it - passed over, ugh, not used to this position. Are you still waiting to hear if you're still in the running or what class you'll be starting in? |

LIV in Columbus, Ohio said: I hear ya. Not sure what to think. You are in a hard spot. Did you feel your ftf went well? Did your interviewers tell you you had done a good job as you finished answering eachh question? That's the way it went for me. As we finished up they both told me I had done very well with good answers which led me to believe that I was in good standing for selection. I was so let down when my name wasn't chosen. I've read where your entries to this forum sound like you maybe were as let down and surprised as I was. One of the other interviewees told me she thought it must be my age. She said that traveling overseas trips would have been too much for me because I would have been worn out. What do you think kept you from being chosen? |
