Did you apply for a specific base? I applied for flight out of MIA.

I wouldn't be worry either for the language test since I'm native Italian too, I'm more worried if I've to speak in English... just kidding!!
I'm totally flexible for DL, anywhere they'll send me (and I hope they'll send me somewhere) I'll go, most likely will be JFK for what I know at least

NapoletanaDOC in Miami, Florida said: Hi there,
From your experience do you think that if you applied for a position (for example my case) in Miami FL, it means that you will be based out of Miami?
Also, if you apply for a specific language LOD (i.e. Italian)it means that you mainly will do the flights to that specific country?

Thanks

As to the Base assignment: if there was for whatever reason an opening in MIA at the time you graduate and they didnt have anyone else with more seniority wanting that base, then maybe, but very unlikely. At least with my airline each of us was asked to fill out the top 3 bases we would like to have, tho none of them were guaranteed, it is where the company needs you at that moment. Then at the time of graduation they looked at where they needed FA's and tried to match them us and award base requests. Out of the 35 that graduated, everyone except 2 all went to the base that was in need. But were put on a waiting list for a transfer so when the opening came available they got the opportunity to move. Company needs change all the time! That is the beauty of the airlines!! But as a rule: everyone must to their time!
And I really dont know about the language and destination question. Sorry. :0(

bab76063 in Arlington, Texas said: Hello All,
I just got called for a face to face interview in Atlanta for a bilingual Japanese Flight Attendant position.
Here were the steps on the process:
1. Applied (about 5 weeks ago)
2. Contacted by email from Delta to complete online assessment (about 4 weeks ago)
3. Contacted for initial phone interview, asked situational questions such as "A passenger is complaining about a crying baby, how do you handle the situation" etc., told by interviewer that my information would be forwarded to a Delta recruiter and to please be patient. (about 3 weeks ago).
4. Received email request from Delta to complete online application and profile. (about 1.5 weeks ago).
5. Received call from Delta asking me to complete "Email phone interview". This was actually a language test, they emailed me a link, I went to the site and entered my phone number, the automated system called me back and asked 3 questions in Japanese and asked that I provide a 30 to 40 second response in Japanese. (I'm sure it would be similar for other languages.). (2 days ago)
6. Received call from Delta inviting me to face to face interview in Atlanta.

This was my experience to date, hopefully this will give some of you an idea of what to expect.

I would like to know more about the process once you get to Atlanta. I was told that it would take about 4 hours.

IF I'm selected, can anyone give me an idea of what the 8 week school will entail?

Hi Bab76063. Congrats for F2F interview invitation! I just finished my language test in Japanese today. When is your F2F interview in Atlanta?

FA4life in Staten Island, New York said: After training you need to go where they assign you. I think the majority of new hires will be based in NYC, from what I've read. You don't have to move, though. As you probably know, many crew members commute from their home cities to where they're based and some get crash pads or hotel rooms in order to be where they need to be for their trips. After time (each airline is different) you may have an opportunity to bid a base closer to where you live. If you want a list of DL's bases, it's been posted in this (and other) Delta threads. Go back some pages and you should find it.

I've always wanted to see NYC!
I'm thinking I'll be spending as much time commuting from Dallas as I will flying....
What about International flights? I assume that since the position I applied for is bi-lingual Japanese I will be flying back and forth to Tokyo frequently, and these would require an overnight stay. Do they provide lodging on overseas flights? Per diem?

I think you are a bit confused. Delta doesn't have any international flights out of MIA. What you might be seeing is our codshare flights with Alitalia. Also, there is no chance at all that you will be based in the MIA/FLL base out of training. To be honest it will take you a few years at best to get in there. Its all about seniority and you wont have any at first.

Bab just because you are hired as a JP speaker does not mean you will only fly to Japan. In the begining you will be very very lucky if you get one trip a month to NRT. As far as layovers Delta always pays for our hotels and you are on an hourly per diem. I hope this helps you .

You can commute from any where in the world that you want but its your responsibility to get yourself to work. Most new hires will go to the NYC base with a few exceptions maybe going to ATL based on language needs at the time you finish training. We have A LOT of commuters from South Florida.

No you can do more than one long haul flight a week it just depends on your schedule . As long as you have the legal rest inbetween you can fly them back to back. Remember our trips are awarded based on seniority so its very likely that you wont have any international flying at all in the beginning.

Hi DalCrew

Good Morning, I would like to say how excited I am to learn that Delta is not calling people forward for f2f interviews.
I would like to ask you if I may, in your professional opinion, do you think non-lod candidates will be called forward before October, given that interviews are now starting October 11th onwards?
I totally understand and respect why Delta is calling lod speakers right now for f2f, I would just like to know if Delta hiring team have any interest in calling non-lod speakers any time soon, or is it going to be purely lod f2f interviews for the time being?

Thank you for your time

you may have seen them but there are other post on here where people got rejection emails and status changes like yours and then a short time later got called for interviews or a f2f. If they said it's ok then I wouldn't worry... if possible. Maybe the withdrawl was for one or the other 2 LOD's. Maybe they need one LOD more than the other. Just a thought... Good Luck... hopefully you will go on to the next step soon!!

As long a PS said everything is ok, I would trust everything is ok. You didn't get an email or anything saying that you withdrew right? I know I have had some problems with the web page showing my referral so I did call and they said it was showing on there end. Hopefully it's just a computer glitch. Good Luck to you and everyone else in the waiting game!!

DalCrew,

Do you know if there is a FA/Delta employee info site? I met (well my husband met him first) a very nice delta FA on a spirit airlines flight coming back from Fort Lauderdale a few months back and would really like to contact him. I have looked on fb and that didn't help at all.

Unfortunately there is no way for someone that is not an employee to do an internal search for an FA. If they are not on facebook I wouldn't know how you could reach him .

3. The "passport" issue is resolved, lol?
4. The job posting will be closed 10/1?
5. Current F2F calls are for Oct. 12, 13, 14, 15?
6. First Training Class will probably be in January?
7. First base assignments are almost sure to be NYC?
8. Cinnabon rocks!

A relocation might be difficult because I own a home here and my wife has a good job. How flexible are they on your base location?

If you are a nonLOD, you will more than likely be based in NYC. You can always commute there and have a crash pad, but don't under-estimate how difficult commuting can be. There is a small chance that you could be based somewhere other than NYC, but it is hard to say what will happen given the union situation. As far as I know, Delta does not have a Dallas base.

Hi IamReadytogoRightnow - I don't know what to tell you..I had gotten the congrats email to take the assessment, didn't take it at that moment, went back a few hours later and it wasn't there...next thing I know I got a reject email and profile changed to 'not competitive enough'.. I called to get it straightened out, felt it was a computer mess up of some kind..it never got rectified and now the link to view the app is gone...couldn't see it anyway.. so I don't know what to tell you. It seems everyone has had various experiences, some got rejects then got email to do assessment and continue...I wish it was different but hope your situation gets rectified somehow. I don't understand the why or how of these things. I will be grateful to be able to reapply in 6 months if that is what it comes down to. Bless you and hope you have a great day..

That's false. You won't be limited to just NRT Flights but Delta isn't going to hire you to fly to Japan only once a month, if they hired you as a LOD. (even if you are newly hired)
