Thanks! that's a very nice thing to say!

Yes, I booked the hotel before I got there. I stayed at the Sheraton, great room, with a shuttle and all. I flew in one day and came back the very next.. Don't worry about the questions, ask away!

Tatiane

Hi Tatiane,

Hi I have a question for you do they have a shuttle there that takes you to the interview location or is it like a general shuttle that goes to the airport and other locations? Thanks for your help.

Shane

it's been 8 very long, long days since my 3rd "please be patient" e-mail from Delta.

Congratulations again on getting this far in the Delta Airlines recruitment process! We wanted to reach out to you to thank you for being patient, while we are working on opening schedules for face to face interviews in Atlanta at the start of the new year. We should be in contact with you soon regarding setting up your interview in Atlanta. Thank you again for being so patient and we look forward to meeting you.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
ok, it says START of the New Year...hopefully that means prior to Jan. 15th. They must realize that we all are beginning to get impatient. I applied online 11/28 and was told about earning a FTF on 11/29....and have received 3 of these types of e-mails since then....still waiting on the phone call from 000-000-0000

Hi there!

Some of the hotels have their own shuttle that will take you to and from the airport. However some of them will take you and pick you up from the trainning center if requested. You should call the hotel you are thinking about booking to make sure they will do that. I know Sheraton did...

ILOVEDELTA:

If you had to choose between Omni and Delta.. Since you have the Omni offer and
probably will have an offer from Delta-
(Omni has great trips and I bet you'd move up seniority pretty quick.
Delta, the trips will be shorter though.)
AA may hire this spring. Do you have any input on how it is working for them?
I only know Cal and United FA's.

Omni offers a min. of 2 weeks in Europe in one shot. You don't know where the next flight will take you. You can be gone up to 43 days straight. The level of service (hot meals, etc) is better than commercial (lots to offer and it's all free). You don't deal with seat assignments, etc - all charter flying. Not much flexibility with your schedule, though. You will either fly long range 757 or widebody DC10.

Flying commercial (AA, DL, CO, UA, etc)....you pay your dues. If you commute you will be making 4-5 trips to base every month - very stressful. You can swap trips or drop them altogether = more days off. No food on the flights or you have to sell food to passengers and charge them for everything - drinks, headsets, etc. You will be on narrowbody planes for a while (DC9's etc.). Lots of legs over 3 days. Off the beaten path layover cities to start with. It took 3 years at AA to be able to have enough seniority to "hold" an international schedule. At AA you were either domestic or Intl - not both. And AA you did an entire month of reserve (on call) every other month for the 1st 3 yrs. then 1 on 3 off after that. I was still doing on call after 13 years for Intl out of JFK. And NYC covers EWR, LGA, and JFK. Lots of time in buses, cabs, and trains. I left at $45/hr in 2005. Hard to think of JFK on $17/hr. But 20 yrs from now...you will have a good schedule and be to transfer and commute (be higher up on the standby list). So the potential to improve is better than Omni. Omni will be the same (schedule wise) today as well as 20 years from now. I was only working 8-10 days per month after 13 years....full time. 80 hours. 10 days (20 flights) a month to SJU/AUA/STT, etc and back - no layovers.
There are pros and cons to both. I was not expecting to get hired with Omni....still doubtful about Delta. This is a job that you just don't leave and don't take for granted. It's impossible (almost) to get in the first place. So wear your wings with pride when you earn them.

Sorry to monopolize today's posts, but I just got a call from Delta HR (10:40 am pacific time). It wasn't a 000-000-0000 like before, it was actually a 312 area code (anybody know what state that is?) they were trying to confirm my last employment information and get a contact number for my employer. Apparently, they are having more trouble again with their computer system, and some info hase been deleted. The person was very nice and informative.
Here's the latest that was told to me:
1)Classes are categorized by language spoken (if you're French, you'll be with other French speakers)
2)Even if you live in Atlanta, you will be offered a room w/roommate with Delta picking up the costs and,
3)People who have been offered a training spot will be called, (which is strange because some folks said they received an e-mail.)

Well guys, that's all I know so far. But, they are contacting folks, so sit tight and answer the phone. I almost let it go to voicemail because I didn't recignize the number!!! Have a great day!

312 is chicago

Make friends with Jacob from Brooklyn - he will be your lifeline to getting in and around NYC...finding housing and roommates, etc. It's so scary at first...but what a great experience. At AA we had to arrive at training with $2,000 in traveler's checks (that they held on to) to help relocate. An hour after receiving our wings at the graduation ceremony we were shuttled to DFW and off to our flights to our base cities. That was it. We had 4-5 days to get settled (find a place to live) and then they called us with our first trip. I stayed in a hotel with 2 guys and my roommate from training (that I roomed with in DC) for 4 days until we signed a lease. $585/mo for a studio - back in 1992.

Most F/A's stay in Kew Gardens (NY)- which I recommend...lots of fellow f/a's to guide you in the right direction. It's between JFK and LGA. Some houses have 4 people per room - 5-6 rooms...can get your own bed for less than $300/mo. These are mostly for commuters. I hot bunked in a 9 bed, 1BR apt for only $125/mo. = "crash pad". Best of luck - I love NYC

Thanks ILOVEDELTA! Great Info.
You are correct. Wings are hard to get.
Once you have them- love them forever!
How I always remind myself how lucky I was to have my wings- I told myself everyday there was thousands of people who would take my job in a second and do it for free if they could.
You've been out of the game for two years! I've been out 14.
Still have it in my blood. And can't wait to get back in the game.
The people are amazing!

Now we wait for 312 to call! :)

I attended an open house that Omni held in ATL at a Hampton Inn in East Point. I drove since it was only 6 hours and I had no idea how long I would be there. It started at 8am and I was the first one finished by 1:30pm. The final 8 interviews started at 4pm - so it could have lasted until 5pm or so. And on the other hand the first cut of people was at 9am...that group was already heading back home. Some had flown in from Utah, IL, FL. I went the night before.

There were a few people that were going to attend the open house by Air Tran in Orlando last week. Hmmm...wonder how that went.

EOS, from what I've read, doesn't pay for anything. You have to fly to Rochester on your own dime. I applied with them, but only got an e-mail saying they received my application.

At AA...they flew you in at a time that allowed you to go and come back in one day. My previous DL interview (in 92) was a one day event - no overnight stay required. I think EOS and others may do this to see who is really serious about the job vs. just getting a free interview for practice purposes.

The really do need Spanish speakers in New York. Delta is expanding in Latin America and Caribbean and there is a need need for Spanish speakers. My best friend is an FA with Delta and from what she tells me there is a need. They probably have received tons of Spanish speaking applicants and therein lies the dilemma. So you really do have to make sure they see the best in you during the interview...friendly, all smiles, upbeat and quick thinking. Don't be nervous, that won't help you. I've been waiting to hear from Delta for months so when I was offered an interview and I was there, I couldn't help but be ecstatic.

Congrats on getting a job and thanks for the info I was wondering if they needed spanish speaking people as there are several of us who speak spanish that are waiting for a FTF. Do you mean the language interview? From what I understand, being hired as a language speaker you must know the language and pass the initial language assessment. There is little need for English only speakers. I was also told that there are two levels of language qualifications, 2 year and 10 year. So if you didn't do particularly great, you might get a two year qualification...and that assessment occurs after training.

I think you mean the initial telephone interview though...I couldn't tell you what the process is now, but when I did the phone interview I was told then and there that I passed and that I would be getting an email to schedule a face to face. The whole process took about three weeks. Now I'm waiting for training info for almost a month.

Hi, I was also hired on Nov 30th!
1) Which interview session were you in?
2)How did you know you passed clearance?

I know, I'm in the same boat as you, waiting on training date. I'm a French speaker. I was told the same thing about the language tests. Has PeopleSource called you?
